hi all
since dec i've lost 5 lbs and have kept it off.

not awe inspiring :rotfl: but i'll take it
i'm now 15 lbs lighter than i was at this time last year

my goal is to loose another 28 lbs eventually and keep it off!!!

i'm not very good a sticking at anything for a long time - so i've decided to make a conserted effort in april to loose 8 lbs---- than step back and see if i can maintain that weight for a while- before i try to loose any more- does this approach make sense to anyone????

my goals this month are as follows
1) walk a minimum of 30 minutes everyday
2) drink 8 glasses of water a day
3) journal what i eat everyday - to keep track
4) conscious effort to pick better food choices
5) weight and bp everyday

i think i can keep this up for a month

i also brought myself a pair of pants one size down a size 10 - i'm hoping to fit into by may1 :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

i know a size in a number - but mentally i'd like to be a size 6-8 when i'm all done loosing these last 28 lbs-

i'm 5'9" and my goal is 140- does that sound like a size 8 ???? :confused3
its been over 10 years since i've seen that weight that i'm clueless as to what my goal should be

does it sound unrealistic for a 40 year old mom of 3????

Size 8 at 140 and 5'9" is what my 16 year old daughter is. She is very lean and so if you are working out and toning then I think it is possible.

I think it sounds pretty reasonable! :) I have a friend who is 5'9 and she's 140....and she is a size 6 at that weight. Alot depends on your muscle tone...you could weigh 150 and wear an 8 if you had good muscles under there...so don't let the number be your guide let the "dream" pants be your guide...go buy something you'd like to wear and when you fit into them comfortably that'll be a good stopping place! :)

A couple of ideas...if you're just starting out walking daily....then start out at 30 minutes a day and work your way up to 45 minutes or more 6 days a week...I really believe you need one day of rest for your body to recoup. Also, your muscles may be really sore if you push it too hard the first week...but like you said 30 minutes minimum is a good pace. I've found that the weight steadily comes off when I'm walking at a brisk pace for 4-6 hours a week...if I ever drop below that 4 hour mark I start to plateau a bit.

If you maintain that exercise plan and just decide to stop focusing on the eating after the end of April...you'll still lose! :) If you maintain that level of activity (try and add new things in..canoeing/swimming/tennis/gardening to use other muscles) and eat regularly you will still lose about 3-5 pounds a month! So, while you may need a break from being a disciplined eater...don't stop being a disciplined exerciser...your body will work better for you if you can keep that up.

YOU CAN DO THIS!!! Keeping those pounds off this year has been proof that YOU CAN!!! :)

We're here for you!!!
