Hi Everyone,

It's been a long time since I have logged on.

I hope all had a great Thanksgiving. We spent yesterday shopping all day. My DD15 looked for cruise formal wear while we were out. Last year she got a formal for $25. We didn't find anything this year.

My kids are getting real excited. It won't be long till we pay in full and start making ressies. I'll have to go through closets and see who out grew all their summer clothes.

Welcome back! We had a good but busy Thanksgiving weekend! I've done pretty well on my shopping so far! Still need to work on things for the teachers, bus drivers, coach, etc!

Anybody's area experiencing any flu yet? Knock on wood we are OK here!
Can't get a flu shot for anything! Keeping our fingers crossed!

those are the gifts I have to work on too. They are always so challenging. Especially when someone has been coaching or teaching a long time. I always hate to get the same old thing for them.

I'm hoping as christmas gets closer I get some brilliant ideas LOL

We've been lucky with the flu in our house. My dd did get a stomach virus thanksgiving eve but it only lasted about 12 hours. So far so good, no one else in the house has gotten it. I didn't get a flu shot either. My ds did, but with his asthma he is considered high risk.

Just saw this on another thread about Grand Cayman, Stingray City:

"We are on the 1/28/06 Magic, and I just booked with Native Way. They have great reviews. They go to Stingray Sandbar, Barrier Reef Snorkel, and then Rum Point Beach for lunch and sunning. Cost is $60pp adult."

Maybe we should check them out. Anyone used them or Capt. Marvins?

Thanksgiving was very nice. I hope you all had nice holidays with your families.

Judy, We're in our second year of the a new school for both kids. I still miss the familarity of the old school. We knew everyone at the old school and everyone knew us. We went from parochial (sp?) to public school. The public school is so big. DD loves the school. DS can take it or leave on some days.

Hi guys. Thanksgiving came off without too many hitches. (other than my mother in law telling me I had gained alot of weight ---I have put on that winter 5-7 pounds.) I was such a good girl and said nothing back and felt so proud that I held my tongue. My husband was extremely upset at her so I guess that made up for both of us. Oh yeah----she also must have asked me 40 times why I did not stuff my turkey.

Anyway our house has had an epidemic of the cold-sinus thing going around and we can't seem to knock the cough.

I was reading one thread that was talking about the new boarding system saying that if you just conme around noon now you can walk right on. There were people who showed up at 10 am and got numbers 8 or so and then had to wait the 2 hours to board, compared with those that showed up at noon and walked right on. If this is the case----maybe we could meet for breakfast in Cape Canaveral area. Any takers??

OK so now that I have been told that I am fat---I think I need to start thinking about my precruise weight loss. I would not want to displace more than my allotted amount of water out of the Mickey Pool. PLus I need to have a spare spot for the chocolate souffle to attach itself

What about that poor air marshall in Miami? I feel so bad for him. It seems like the media atleast here is already pointing the finger at him saying--but the wife was screaming that he was ill.....He looked like a duck, acted like a duck, and truely could have been a duck, just because some woman who could have been an accomplice is screaming a diversion, should you let the guy blow up a plane or airport? The media is going on about this poor innocent man who was shot. What are your thoughts?

UM---- did you ever work out the airfare thing?

Who out there has snow and frigid temps? Be glad we aren't cruising this week 60's here, very rainy, and high winds.

Hello everyone!

Judy - we have the cold/sinus thing going on here too! My DS is home from school today and I was home yesterday! I don't have time to be sick!

We haven't gotten our airfare worked out yet! As a matter of fact, I've been reading that SW may open their fares through April today. I'm checking every once in a while today and hope for the best!

We had the new boarding in California. We got there fairly early but were not in a big rush. We did have to wait a while but it was fun talking to people in the terminal. We meet so many DISers and their families while we were waiting. I think we had boarding number 7. We were able to check the kids into the kids club while we waited in the terminal too - that was great! No line and got the wrist bands and got the pager in record time!

Mother-in-laws ... Ugh! I've seen your picture, no way you are fat! Sometimes I think they are just reaching for something to say.

I haven't heard too much about the air marshall thing since I haven't been feeling well - couldn't stay up for the news last night. From what I've heard it sounds like he was doing his job. I agree that he needed to ignore the wife. Could have been a dangerous situation! It's really too bad for all involved!

Yes, we have snow and it was 18 degrees this morning! More snow/ice/sleet on the way this evening into tomorrow morning! Yuck! I'm with you Judy, I wouldn't want to be cruising with those temps! Spring break is usually perfect cruise weather!

Hey, fellow DISers! Life has been so hectic now, I've not had time to post. Still excited, though! Most of the time, I feel so overwhelmed trying to plan everything. There's the things on board, the kid's clubs and meals and shows, then the shore trips! So many to choose from! And if something doesn't work out, then we've ruined almost a whole day! Then there's the whole how to get there, where to stay, how to get back, getting off work, getting out of school... As I'm sure you've noticed, I tend to get worked up about things! I can admit that! When we went to Disney, I had the whole thing planned and ready months in advance. For some reason it seemed that was easier! Well, now onto Christmas! And then, just a few short months til we set sail! Or set engine as it were!

Hi all, we just watched the Magic sailaway. It was so cool. You can see the new dumbotron from very far away. It looks huge. It was cool because we started on the cams from port and followed it down the coast. My kids were so sad we weren't on it.

My dh and DS6 are headed to the Magic game tonight and I am taking my mom DS9 and DD3 to the Rockette Christmas thing. I hope it is good.

I am almost done with my shopping but we have so many school things in the next week. Hectic. Lots of goodies to be made. My moms and my own birthdays are this week too. My DH office party also.

Hi everyone

Hope everyone is getting all those holiday preparations done. My shopping and wrapping are almost all done. A few more gift certificates to go.

I've been spending a lot of time looking for a black formal dress for my dd15's first winter formal. It was a little tough for her. It's a sadie hawkins dance so she had to work up the nerve to ask a boy. She decided to ask a real good friend. I hope they'll have a good time. Now I just have to work on getting her a black dress. It's also a black and white afair.

At least she'll have it to bring on the cruise for formal night.

Polly - have fun shopping for that dress! I'm hoping to get something new after the beginning of the year. My company's party is going to be a New Years party on Jan 7th!

Yes, we have lots of school things going on this week too! I also have to go to the brownie meeting and do all of the activities for a Try-It (badge). It will be about selling cookies which starts Jan 6th. I'm cookie mom again too so that will be a busy time right after the beginning of the year!

Hope everyone get some down time (a little?) during this hectic time!

being cookie mom has got to be like being popcorn mom with the boy scouts. Lots of work. Good luck. I've never had a brownie, but my dd7 desperately wants to be one, maybe next year. My ds13 is a boyscout, working on his eagle.

My DD is also 7 and loves brownies. My DS is 11 and is working on his first class (very close) in boy scouts. I'm sure he would love to talk to your DS about his scouting activities. We'll have to get our DDs together during the cruise!

My ds loves helping advancing scouts. He would love to talk to your ds. The dd's will have so much fun in the clubs. My big dd is the one I'm not sure of. I know she'll have a good time. I just don't want to have to worry about what she's doing and how many boys are around. LOL.

Hi Everybody,

I'm just checking in. The snow and ice storm caused the schools to be closed today and DH is working from home. The roads were pretty slippery this morning. I find myself daydreaming about sitting on deck 10 with a creamy drink in my hand.

We're having everyone here for Christmas and I'm still shopping. I started baking and will do some more today. How is everyone else's plans coming? Is anybody going away for the holidays?

Ditto to the scout comments. I'm a Junior Girl Scout leader for my dd's troop and cookie mom. What was I thinking? DS is a Wolf Scout.

That countdown clock is going pretty slow.

I am bummed! We had our big pot-luck, extended lunch at the office today. Well...of course they release the SW fares for April today while I'm at lunch!!!
I have been checking almost hourly every day for weeks! I got a $73 fare for the trip to MCO but had to pay $143 for the flight home! I still don't know if I'm going to loose the money I spent on my original plane tickets on Independence Air! Just venting!

HI Um,

Bob & I have been checking everyday. He got an email from an airfare watch service about the dates opening up. I was tutoring when the airfare opened up. I got $125 & $182 URGH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I checked the other airlines first and Southwest was still the cheapest by far. It just bugs me because I paid $99 to go to LAX in the spring. I wonder if they have fewer cheap seats than before?

We're arriving early on Friday and flying home on Saturday afternoon. I have to book a hotel at the Port now.

Good luck to everyone else trying to get cheap Southwest airfare.
