April 8, 2006 Western Magic Cruise

Hi everyone,
Rough week starting with the ordeal of the broken foot and the doctors visits after that. DD developed a terrible case of croup and that called for a couple of more visits to doctors. In the meantime things had gotten so rotten at school for my youngest that we ended up pulling him out of school. I now will be homeschool mom unti next year. Boy a lot can change in a matter of a few days. Unfortunately my thin mints had just arrived at my house before the stressful week and they really do relieve stress. :rotfl: (5 boxes later) :rotfl2:

Better count us out on the winetasting. I too am looking for a few extra items for wardrobes.

What type of attire do you all prefer to wear on semi-formal night?

Lori

Hi Everyone,

We had a very successful shopping trip to King of Prussia Mall. DD got her shoes (Strawbridges had a great sale).DS got his suit (First Communion & formal night) and his shoes. Now I have to find a few things.

DH, DD & I watched the Wonder pull out of PC and the Magic out of KW. We're so pumped.

Judy, sorry to hear your son was having such a hard time. Kids can be cruel. Croop! Oh no! I hope your daughter starts to feel better soon. Here's some extra pixie dust. :wizard: (my more button doesn't work to get the animated Pixie Dust) Back away from those cookie boxes and everything will be ok.

VA have a safe trip!

Polly congrats to your DD and we'll keep our fingers crossed.

Lak, Dh wears a blazer and khakis on semi-formal night. I usually wear a skirt or dress. DD wears a dress and DS dons a very dapper blazer and khakis. DS was chosen two years ago for Millionaire. He was seated to the right of an empty seat. He ended up winning $140. He was so cute. When we got back to room that evening he was disappointed that his cash had not arrived yet! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I guees he was expecting a wheelbarrel full of money. After the show, some people in the elevator recognized him and asked for his autograph.

Hi Um, How's the weather in MD? It was almost Mayish here yesterday!!!!! Yep, DD is in a ladies' size 7 1/2. It's hard to find a nice pair of shoes for an 11 yr old in that size. Most styles are too old for her. Now there are two of us in ladies' shoes. OUCH! It's going to get expensive.

My daughter wants to know if any of the kids going on this trip want to exchange emails or posts here before we leave? DD is 11 (will be 12 in June).

I haven't even begun to pack. Sounds like I had better get on the stick.

Hello everyone!

Judy - so sorry to hear about your DS! I can't imagine how you must feel to have to pull him out. Best of luck! I hope your DD is better soon too! Your family is not following the no more illness/injury rule!!!! Hope all is well soon!
Sorry you won't be joining us for the wine tasting. It sounds like we may not have enough interest anyway....

Pocono - I'm in VA even though my name has UM (I'm originally from there!).
Anyway, we were in the low 80s both days this weekend. Just beautiful! The kids were outside as much as possible! DH got some yard work done! Yes, I hear you about kids being in adult shoes! DS is wearing a men's size 11! And he is only 11! I hope we won't have to go to custom size shoes when he's finished growing!!!

lak - The pirate party in the same night at Pirate night (Wed I think). It starts at 9 or 9:30PM. There will be more detail in your navigator that you will get the night before for the following day's activities. Be sure to read it and maybe bring a highlighter to make sure you don't miss an activity that you might really want to do.

Have a great day!

Sounds like some like to dress up for it?

If we have a Palo's 6:30 reservation..and we send the kids to the kid's club...will we make it just in time for the Pirate's party after dinner? I would think so.

Hi lak - Yes, I think you should make it just fine. Yes, some folks dress up but not the majority. Most everyone does wear something pirate or tropical that evening though. We have pirate t-shirts that I made for our last cruise that we will wear. We also have a little bit of other pirate garb. I think Pocono's kids have the full outfits. Is that right, Pocono? At the regular dinner they give out pirate bandanas for everyone to wear. You might want to stop by your regular table and get those from your servers if you can.

Got to get packing soon! I have DD's b-day party this weekend. Her first sleepover. I guess I won't be getting any sleep Saturday. Maybe I'll come post on the DIS boards!

Have a great evening!

Yup! Both have full pirate attire, but I don't think Kate's shirt will fit this year. I have to have them try them on.

Happy Birthday to Ashlyn! :wizard:

Pocono

How cute! Where did you get the pirate's costumes? hmmmm....not sure if my DH would deal with that. Had to force him to buy a new suit for formal night. ha!

Any word on Cozumel?

Good morning everyone!

Thanks Pocono - I'll pass on the b-day wishes.

No word on Cozumel that I know of. If any one hears anything, please post here!

Have a great day!

Packed yet?

Hi Lori,

I ordered the costumes from halloweendepot.com last year. I think I paid $20 for each costume. The kids wore them in May in Calif and then for Halloween. DD isn't too interested in dressing up this time. I want a picture of them with Capt. Mickey. We missed the picture by 2 or 3 kids.

Not packed yet, but the piles of stuff is getting bigger in the spare bedroom.

Hi Everyone

I too have smalls piles of clothes everywhere, only dd7 is packed. The other two kids keep taking the clothes back that I have tried to pack. :rotfl2:

Our weekend was successful. Two 1st place trophy's in cheer and one in dance. They did great this weekend. And SU won the big East Tournie. DIdn't win the big cash prize or any for that matter but the win by SU was great. DS got a GMac shirt at the silent auction. He wore it to school monday and wants to bring it along on vacation. What a long day Sunday was for me though. The competition was in Albany which is about a 2 1/2 hour drive one way. At least the weather was good, only a little fog.

Snow is back today. Can't wait to be in Florida in just over 3 weeks. :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc

I wish we would know about Cozumel, one way or another. It would be nice to be able to plan excursions.

Hope everyone is making packing progress.

Lori

Polly/Lori,

WOW! Congrats on the trophies and first place :cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2: :cool1:

We were in Dick's Sporting Goods this weekend. I couldn't believe that they were selling GMac's shirt on the first 4 way stand you see upon entering the store. They had tons of SU shirts and basketballs. GO SU! My nephew was probably at that game. He loves SU and basketball!

We're suppose to get snow on Friday. URGH! It was in the 70's yesterday. I'm hoping that the kids don't have another snow day.

They seem to have a lot of SU and GMac stuff here today. It's great. I am not looking forward to a late night on thursday though. Tip off is at 9:40 I think. I hope they win. Go SU!!! :thumbsup2

Seems like just yesterday my team (Illinois) was in the championship! What a fun season. This year will be a challenge.

Who else is obsessed with this trip? Our 1st cruise...kids just think we're going to cocoa beach to play in the ocean. We're not telling them about the cruise. Can't wait to see their faces when we walk up to the ship!

Lori, you may have to take a little siesta so you can watch the Orangemen. :cheer2: Go SU!

Lak,

Your kids will love you for the surprise. We've surprised our kids on 2 different trips. The look on their face is priceless! When we go to Philly now we have to tell the kids we're not going on a trip somewhere. :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Hey all, I was just on DCL's site and they still say Cozumel. We may be good. WOW!!!!!!To be the first cruise back would be awesome (Disney ). Guess I better get to looking up all those beach parks again. Costa Maya sounds like a no brainer if you want to go to the beach.

Boy, I thought we were set for the cruise however when DS tried on his pants he has grown way too much. Can't tell about the shoes until the cast comes off so we will have lots of last minute running around.

You know the reason I do not pack early is because my kids do run off with things and then I end up not knowing if I have things or not. Plus I guess it is harder for us to pack the warm weather clothes when we are wearing them everyday---as opposed to you guys that have cold weather. I'll be stressing the night before.

Lori, that is the coolest thing that they do not know. They are going to be so majorly geeked up. My kids ask everyday when we are going again.

Hello everyone!

lak - That is awesome that your kids don't know!

polly - Another congrats to your talented bunch!

judy - I'm sure you are right! We do have that one (and only one this time of year) advantage to living in the cold north! Maybe we will be the first ones back to Coz. I hope they are really ready for us if we do!

Have a great day!
