Hey, we were thinking of a spring trip at the 7 month window for HHI or two days at AKV and Three at VB. Any idea on availability, or suggestion?

Thanks, James

I'm a veteran of 5 Christmas to NY trips and I won't go to WDW at Easter :confused3

I'd recommend HHI and Vero Beach

HHI is "iffy" in early April.

The ocean will be fairly cold and weather can be very nice or fairly cool. Just depends.

I have gone in late March when it was BEAUTIFUL and in early April when I nearly froze LOL!

I agree with the idea that Easter is worse for WDW travel than Christmas. No way you will see much of Disney in that short of time during that VERY busy time!

Not to Hi-Jack here but a quick question- We are planning April 12- 16 - I ahve been to Florida in April before and it seemed to be very nice weather- is it just the luck of the draw? so to speak- Or are you all talking about the crowds of people during that time frame? We are hoping it will be wonderful since it will be our very first trip and actually just thought of going in April since our kids will have that time out of school- We will also be going in July- 5-10th is that time any better?

That is Holy Week or Easter week, so yes, it is THE MOST CROWDED time at WDW! I would NEVER choose to do that time for a first trip. You will not see or do much unless you are really prepared with pre-planned schedules etc. If you have never been there before, you wont really even know what you want to be sure to do and see. I have known people who went during that time for their first trip and felt like they definitely didn't get their money's worth, because it was so crowded. Do yourself a favor and take the kids during a less crowded time. Maybe right after school is out in early June?

Wish that was an option for us. We don't get out until the end of June and it's Spring Break for us or no Disney. Luckily, it's not our first trip and our kids are older so I think we'll be okay.

For the original OP. Your dates are before Easter week so I think you'll be okay and the weather is supposed to be fabulous that time of year. You might look into using TourGuide Mike or similar program to maximize your time at the parks.

If there is a saving grace on the April 13-17 week in 2009, it's that while it will be packed...it could be worse. School vacation week in MA always falls during the Patriots Day Holiday which is 4/19, so MA schools will be on vacation the week of 4/20-24.

DH's CT school is out the 13 - 17. We're NOT going to WDW then. I used to love those April weeks that were not the two weeks around Easter. Even though much of New England is there, it's better than Christmas or some July weeks. I always found the crowds quite manageable.

We'll be going during Easter this coming spring.

We were just there a couple of weeks ago and our entire trip was spent along with TS Fay so we didn't get to enjoy as much as we usually do. We try to go 2-3 times a year so we're aware of the crowd levels and usually hit the parks first thing AM, then have lunch and down time at the resort, then back for dinner and evening activities. Usually works for us.

Have our ressies made at our home resort, but want to see about switching when the 7 month window opens up. Hope I can do a little moving around.

We went during Easter week in 2007. Using TourGuideMike.com, we easily saw everything we wanted to see. That being said, we had been there many times before and were fine with not seeing EVERYTHING. It is definitely manageable with a lot of planning. I would spend the money for his subscription and do you research. You will enjoy your vacation.

Up Date: I made reservations for Hilton Head yesterday at 9 am for a 2 bedroom on April 5th – 9th. We are so exited about the trip; hope it is warm this spring! This will be our first trip to HH. Vacations are easy with DVC. 41 days until SSR!! :yay: :yay:

We went July 7th-13th, 2007 and again the week after Easter in 2008. Easter trip was actually much more enjoyable b/c the weather was beautiful. July was just HOT and SWEATY and still pretty crowded. We are EARLY BIRDS though and followed Tourguidemike plans. We were at Magic Kingdom for 7:00am openings and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We just booked at 7 months for BWV for the week before Easter this year and I'm not nervous ... just hoping MK will open at 7:00am when we are there!:thumbsup2
