April 5, 2012 5 Night Bahamian Cruise (Dreamfinders)

Hi Guys,

Our family is traveling from northern Utah. I'd love to do a pre-cruise meet but I haven't seen anyone from our area.

QUESTION 2 Experienced Cruisers: So back in the day, when I made my reservation the lowest stateroom category available was 8A. I am currently assigned GTY, which I hear is not bad because it may result in an upgrade.

So I look today, and for our cruise they are offering staterooms in category 11B (which I would have taken), and staterooms that also have a (6A &06B)verandah, cheaper than what I paid for the least expensive room available a month ago.

Is this normal? Clearly, for the money I'm paying, I want the best room I can get and now that looks like that money should include a bigger room and a veranda.

Or do I trust the GTY status on my 08A to put me into a room that exceeds my expectations? I can't imagine why this room costs more than the 06A or 06B, but maybe those of you with some experience can explain it to me.

:confused3

For anyone who ill be going to WDW prior to cruise...anyone interested in their kids attending/setting up a group for the Youth Education Series? We could also take advantage of discount ticket pricing. They haven't posted the schedule yet for April, but if enough people were interested for the same class then maybe we could have one created. Maybe the Ocean themed one.

Just a thought.

Melinda,
So cool that our trips match up- ( kidani, cruise, Jambo) are you DVC too?
We may be interested in the youth education.... Can you tell me more about it?
We always try to do a unique experience for Andrew DS9, or unique experience as family, so that every trip has a "magic" something in it.
Not that a double dip at CC isn't special, but youth Ed. Sounds interesting too.

You can pm Me if you like.

Hi Tammi

I live in Takoma Park...the other side of DC. I definately think trying to get a meet ahead of time with people in the area would be very nice...especially considering once on board there are 4,000 people to wade through.

I'm just glad, since I am trying to keep this trip a secret, to have people to communicate about the cruise with.

I was looking at the port adventures...I never realized that we would have the opportunity to see Atlantis! Wow...Everytime I try to price that vacation, I return to Disney instead. I feel like I'm getting a 2-fer.

Is the "fish extender" still on?? I thought the door decorating/fish extenders were adorable when I saw it on the Wonder. Eli will really love the idea that we can do it this time. Searching our magnets now.

Yes the FE are still on. :goodvibes Sorry that I have been AWOL --we were on the Aug. 23rd Disney Alaskan cruise (AWESOME cruise) and were gone for almost 3 weeks. We just got back this last Thurs really late and now I am finally going through all the posts that I missed. I will add you to the FE list. Glad that you will joining us on FE and on the cruise.:thumbsup2

Our family (my husband and I, Brandon (15) and an older son and his wife)will be on this cruise. This is our first Disney cruise; I've been doing a lot of research and have learned about decorating the door and the fish extenders. I'd love to get any suggestions to help make this a great vacation. Thanks pirate:

YES is Youth Education Series Classes that they now also offer to individuals. Based on what I have read, they have age appropriate class from animation, leadership, marine biology that take place early in the morning for an hour or so. The nice thing is that it offers substantial ticket discounts to everyone in the traveling party even when only one child attends. if you google youth program disney, its one of the first hits. I am computer challenged on the message board or I would put in the link.

They haven't come out with the schedule for April, but they do have some schedules out if you look to get an idea how they are offered. I will post more, when the April schedule comes out.

I do have a question......it may be a "mid-life moment"....didn't this cruise have the nassau day as sunday originally? I now see the nassau day as friday. When did they change this? I booked comfort suites ressies for sunday (back in May, 2011) and now I have to change them (not so easy, since we are a group of 14 people) and the price is much higher. Ugh. So did the itinerary change or did I just make the mistake from the get go????

NEVER MIND.....I called DCL and the day at Nassau IS on Easter Sunday, not Good Friday. I really think I am losing my mind......

WHEW!!! You had me panicked for a bit. Just by coincidence, my sister and her family are arriving in Nassau (Atlantis) on Friday for their family vacation. As a surprise to the kids (hers and mine) we are not telling them that we are planning to "bump" into each other on the beach and spend the day together.

So glad the itinerary remains the same!

So sorry for the near-coronary! But I have emailed itinerary's from DCL from 10/29/10 and 4/28/11 that both say the Nassau day is Friday. I'm wondering how I knew it was Sunday. I just happened to be looking at something on mousesavers and it made me check my ressies and the itineraries and that's when I flipped out. Should've called DCL before freaking out and freaking everyone else out. So sorry!

I will definately be calling DCL. I orignally booked this cruise (our 1st on DCL) because of the itinerary (The two CC days were not together - CC, Nassau, CC) but when I got my paperwork it had Nassau (on Friday: Nassau, CC, CC). I called the travel agent, who called DCL, they said the itinerary was change (Nassau on Friday). It may have changed back :confused3. I just want to be sure. No matter what I'm sure will have a great time.
