April 5, 2009 Disney Wonder 4-night

We got our Documents today!

Although there is some uncertainty...

My father in law had a heart attack and is not doing well. We may have to cancel our cruise.

Keep him in your prayers. We hope to be cruising with ya'll.

My DH, DD (4) princess:and DS (12) :cool2: will be on the Wonder. We're first-time Disney cruisers and are really looking forward to a fabulous week! :cheer2:

So far my FIL is doing better, so our plans are on for the cruise. We really need a vacation!!

I am sure you will have a wonderful time! This is our 2nd cruise. I really enjoyed the excitement and "unknown" from our 1st cruise. We were not disappointed!!

I just looked at the weather. Looks like rain on Sunday and cool temps of 71 for a high. Hope it changes between then an now since I don't feel like freezing in a swimsuit after a long cold winter.

:cool1::cool1:ONE MORE WEEK!!:cool1::cool1:

The forcast isn't looking so good though:worried:

I'll be pleading with the good Lord to change the weather:worship:.

So if the weather's going to be cooler, will swimming onboard the ship be out of the question?

My DD wants to wear her princess costumes to dinner. Would that be OK?

Should motion sickness be a problem this time of year? We're mid ship, deck 7.

And if so, should i use those trans-derm things for my DD(4)?

Thanks in advance for any advice/help!

I think the water on the boat will be fine. People have been in it in Jan. The Mickey pool is very shallow, so it will warm up easily. I am not sure about the water in the ocean... I hope it is warm enough to get in! Of course kids can handle anything if they can get wet!

It is absolutely fine for your DD to wear her costume to dinner. Just remember that dinner takes a long time (1 1/2 hrs) so make sure its comfy. There are always characters in the lobby before dinner times, so check for the characters day/time and have her pic made before dinner (when her costume is clean;)).

I wouldn't think there should be problems with motion sickness much. Even though the weather may be stormy some, the storms are quick and the boat is so heavy. You are in the best part of the ship for motion sickness. That is where we stayed last time and we never felt any motion at all. I have inner-ear disease, so that says alot. We also are staying mid-ship, on deck 6.

I don't think that children can have the patch, but check with your peditrician to be sure. I used one last time and it left me feeling little "loopy" at first, but it got better. This time I am just going to take dramamine. My husband and daughter took it last time and they were fine. (They both get car sick very easily.)

I hope this helps some. Let me know if you have any other ??? or if I can help.

I bet your kids are beside themselves (you too!!) with excitement.:cool1: There's nothing better than seeing the excitment on your child's face when they experience it all for the first time. I hope ya'll have a "wonder"ful time.

OH- One more piece of advice... During the sail away party have your DH put your DD on his shoulders some, she will probably be up on the "Dumbo-tron" screen some when they pan out over the crowd. It also makes a cute picture, so have your camera ready!!!

Let's hope the weather will be good for ya'll! Our spring storms in the south are usually hit or miss anyway, so they may blow right on by.:goodvibes

We have the late dinner seating (but are wait-listed for main), so we were planning on getting the kids something before the shows and then if dinner becomes too boring, we were going to take the kids to the clubs so we could actually finish a complete thought. :thumbsup2

Speaking of motion sickness, do you take the dramamine before you start feeling sick as a preventive or wait until you need it? I've been on two other cruises before and once was during hurricane season. The last time (years and years ago), I used the patch and was fine. If I felt loopy, the Bahama Mamas probably masked it ;) so I didn't notice/remember.

Thanks for the tip on the dumbotron. My DD will love it! Will it be obvious where to find that? Is that the same as Goofy's Pool?

And one more dress question. Will my DD be the only kid not in a pirate: costume? I couldn't find anything in her size.

Thanks!!!! :flower3:

Take the dramamine BEFORE you get on the boat if there is any chance you may get sick. It is such a mild dose, that you shouldn't have any side effects. I believe it is now in 12 hour strength, so we will take one when we get up on Sunday morning and at bedtime that night. My family never did take anymore after that, they didn't need it. I, on the other hand, was still "buzzin" :cloud9:from my patch on the second night, so I felt fine. The effects wore off though and I was fine. I decided last time that I would put the patch on 2 days before the cruise this time if I decide to use it. It last for several days.

You can't miss the screen above the goofy pool area where they hold the party. (They cover the pool and that whole area is a big open space with a stage.) I will try to post a picture.

There were just as many kids in costumes as not. Just stick a bandana around her head and make an eye patch out of a piece of black cardboard and a rubberband and "poof" instant pirate..lolpirate:

Sorry, I can't figure out how to make the picture bigger:confused:
