April 4, 2010 Disney Wonder 4-night

Hi All,
I should know this but an email I got from DCL yesterday confused me. Are jeans allowed in the dining room or not? I'm mostly thinking about my nearly teenage son here. Here's an exact quote from an email I received from DCL yesterday... "Nice dining attire (no jeans or shorts at dinner, please)". But I know I've read other places that jeans are okay. Of course, on the dress up night I wouldn't even consider them. What do you all think? :confused3

I think nice jeans with a polo shirt would be acceptable. As long as he's clean and doesn't look like he just rolled off the beach, no one is going to kick him out! And jeans on Pirate Night are definitely fine. We wore black shirts, jeans, and pirate bandanas as our "pirate attire" in January and it was perfect!

I can't wait to see everyone's FE creations! I hope mine don't fall short!

I just realized that my room number is wrong on the FE list...

We're in 7620. My room for next spring break is 5020...

Man, I need a vacation... Whamma, I'm PMing it to you too!

Ok I sent the note out with the correct stateroom number to everyone on the list...

I promise that I'm not normally this scatterbrained!!!

Lemola - you have a beautiful pirate family!! I like your take on the pirate outfit...

I bought a pirate top/bandana on Halloween clearance for Kennedy... I didn't think about adult pirate attire... I might borrow your idea, since it doesn't require sewing or finding a costume...

Hi Everyone,
I just PM'ed a new fish extender list to the participants. Make sure you look for it!

Don't forget...everyone is welcome to the "Meet and Greet" on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in the Promenade Lounge. :dance3:

11 days!!!

Do you guys wear aqua soxs to the beach? Do you need something on your feet when you swim in the ocean? My kids think I am a dork for even suggesting such a thing.

We always wear the water shoes to the beach and around the pool areas. It makes walking in the sand a little easier. If you have a pair of crocs around, you can wear then. They do hold up good in the water and they dry quick.

Is anyone in the FE exchange planning on trying for a stateroom upgrade? I'm just curious what would happen if one of the group ends up switching rooms? How will the others know where to deliver gifts? Anyone with FE experience know how this has worked in the past? (is that enough questions in a row for you? :) )

Holy cow! I just noticed my ticker in the previous post and we are in SINGLE DIGITS BABY!!!!!!!!
:banana::cool1::yay:

Just let us know at the Meet and Greet, 3:00, Promenade Lounge.

I'd wondered that too. Sharing the info at the Meet and Greet is a good idea--also possibly leave a note on everyone's door. I suspect there won't be many rooms available for upgrade. I think the ship is VERY full. I did a search on the DCL website using multiple combinations (i.e. 0, 1, & 2 children). Usually our sailing date didn't come up at all as an available option--or only inside staterooms were available. Of course, they might not have everything that's available on there--but it's probably a halfway decent indicator.

My DD was sick yesterday--so I was home all day unexpectedly and got a lot of packing done. I actually CAN fit all the FE stuff in and don't need to ship it ahead! Yea!! Of course, now I'll spend the next few days rethinking what I've packed and making a million changes.

We leave for WDW in 5 days!! 8 days until the Wonder!!!:yay:

I just realized too--that if someone had an upgrade and wasn't in the first room they were assigned--there wouldn't be a Fish Extender there to leave gifts anyway--so that should give the deliverers a clue to look for the upgraded person elsewhere...which gives the moved family time to leave a note for for the FE participants who don't make it to the Meet and Greet. (Clear as mud???:confused3)

Great ideas unkamike and whamma. Let everyone know at the Meet & Greet, AND deliver your gifts early with a note attached saying your new room # for those who didn't get to attend the Meet & Greet!

For the record, we are NOT planning on checking for an upgrade - so no problems for us. And I agree that upgrades might be hard to come by, because our sailing is so full. But the website only allows you to book cat 12-4. So we won't be able to tell if there is a lot of availability in cats 1-3. So some veranda folks might upgrade at port to cat 1-3 and open up some upgrade potential for those wanting a veranda. To quote whamma..."clear as mud?" :)

7 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just checked the weather, looks like it will be perfect, 75 and partly cloudy, the entire trip. Not to hot, not to cold.:sunny:

See y'all real soon!

Thanks for the weather report unkamike it does sound perfect!!! :cool1:

My daughter got the itch to watch the video from our last DCL cruise and it's in the DVD player right now. Coincidence??? She and my DS still don't know about the cruise. I almost can't believe that I've kept it secret this long. I'm thinking we'll tell them on Thursday--the day we get to WDW. Still deciding how....

Good Luck with your surprise Whamma! We sailed the Magic over Christmas and didn't tell our kids until the day before we left. I made a scavenger hunt to break the news. I put the first clue in the branches of our Christmas tree several days in advance. They just thought it was just a card. They had been begging to open a gift early, so the night before we left, I told them they could open the red envelope on the tree. They followed the clues all around the house until they got the last envelope which contained cruise "tickets" another DISer designed. They screamed and jumped up and down and were so excited. I had the best time with it!! I can't wait to hear how your surprise goes.

On our last cruise we had a lot of FE folks upgrade at the port. We just spread that info around at the Meet and everyone seemed to find everyone else ok. Like others have said, the ship is really full, so I doubt we'll have many, if any, upgrades.

I haven't started packing yet . . . I would have normally have been done by now, but I'm having trouble getting into the packing mood. Maybe tonight!

Take care everyone!
Leslie

my kids will not find out about the cruise until I drive up to the port and drop the bags off. I guess we have kept it from them this long , then they can wait a couple of more days. If you hear 2 kids screamming at the top of their lungs, they belong to me.:wizard:

DD told me today that DS told her there is a "surprise" for them when we get to WDW. Hmmm. He evidently told their daycare provider what he thinks it is and there is a bet riding on it (if he's right he gets to sit in the spot on the daycare providers couch that they fight for each morning. Oh to be 7 and almost 13 again!!).

Supposedly DD has no idea what the "surprise" is because DS won't tell her. Now I'm conflicted...do I wait or tell them now? I wrapped up the cruise documents that we received in the mail to give to DS as an early birthday gift--I thought maybe on Wednesday or Thursday this week. Now I'm just wondering if I should give it to him tonight! Decisions, decisions. He's on the computer too much not to notice things---esp. this thread in the "favorites" list!! Guess I only have myself to blame.

Hi Everyone,

DH just called to check out what movies will be playing during our sailing. In case anyone else is interested this is what he was told:

G-Force
Toy Story 1&2 in 3D
Christmas Carol in 3D
Old Dogs
Pricess & the Frog
When in Rome
Alice in Wonderland in 3D

1 week from today we will be on The Wonder!!!!

:3dglassesLast Disney cruise we put a pillowcase in a plastic bag along with some laundry markers and gave it to guest services. It was returned with all the signatures we had requested. :yay: This time we are bringing a canvas bag to be autographed. We again have a collection of colored laundry markers to send along with it. Our question is...do we have to put the canvas bag in some sort of bag to hold everything and to keep the bag from getting dirty as it makes it way around the ship?:surfweb:
