This is the copy I had been working on until Linda asked about the original design and I adapted that one. I can't decide if I like the brighter flowers or the vintage flowers with that border better. Also can't decide if I like the softer lavender or the vivid blue Think I'll wait and see what they tell me tomorrow.

I have lived by LAX my whole life. I have never encountered bad traffic on a Sunday AM.

Please note that the "I have lived in LA my whole life" means you have NO idea how bad your Sunday morning traffic can be to people from other parts of the country. You are probably uniquely qualified to drive in some states with your eyes closed :rotfl: I seem to always either arrive or leave LA on a Sunday when we have driven to Disneyland...it is your multi freeway systems and having to switch between them that is so hard for those of us used to systems like mine in Seattle. Not so much traffic as traffic patterns:confused3

My Bob and I hated the design I posted earlier but I got valuable input from you. So here is what I think might work and what we think would look good. I'll call the two companies tomorrow and see what they have to say.

Thanks - but to give credit where due, I saw the mickey head leis on Millliepie's site, the sunset mickey head is also hers. I wrote to her and she gave permission to use her designs. The mickey and minnie in beach chairs came from Jordak. He also said we could use his designs. The picture of the Wonder, my Bob took when she was here in San Francisco. I just put them together with the use of Photoshop and a little time and patience but no real art.

Bob and I have been thinking about alternatives too. A lot of you, and Bob, have Hawaiian style shirts, with tropical prints which include Disney characters, made and sold by Disney. I haven't found any tropical Disney material nor these type of shirts sold in volume (you can find individual items on Ebay). If we could find the material or the shirts for sale, we could all wear the same shirt.

Bob also suggested maybe we just get shirts made with material similar to the dress Lilo wears, with text on it unique to our cruise. This would be simple to do and we would all have the same cruise shirt.

The design I am working on would be unique to our group and cruise but would not have the Disney characters exactly. I am working on a concept that has multicolored flower leis shaped sorta like Mickey balloons in different sizes, with images in the center of the balloon. The images include a map of Hawaii, a castle, a cruise ship with two stacks, etc. Along with the balloons would be six surfboards each with it's own color and image on the board; a red bow, a pink bow, a blue sailor hat, a green floppy hat, a pair of red shorts with yellow buttons and a green dog collar and bone. I have text indicating our cruise dates, ports, etc. in the images.

A six inch border would be at the bottom of the shirt. It is multi-color hibiscus, like the lei balloons, with cruise text in a strip between the flower borders. I like the idea of a border at the bottom of the shirts, because it breaks up the busy design on the shirt and it makes the shirt design more vertical rather then horizontal.

I'll keep working on it and see what Becky and her artist says. Unless the group is no longer interested in having me continue on this.

Val

Oh, Val, I am soooo excited by the idea of matching Hawaiian shirts for the group!

I love the idea.

I browsed for custom Hawaiian shirts and came across this company in California:

Corinna

Well done, you.

Corinna - I think this concept is a great idea. It is a similar to what my Bob was thinking when he mentioned just a logo on a "Lilo dress pattern". Thanks for finding them. They are only asking for an order of 50ish too. Great find.

Erik, thanks for the photo. This is the idea I have been playing with too. Using parts of images from Jordak, Milliepie and some of my own, I've been playing with ideas. Here are some from my workboard - definately still in the draft stage.

LOVE the Mickey sun.

Well, maybe we should have a "Honeymoon / Anniversary meet at Cove Cafe"...

Great idea. We'll be celebrating 39 years.

Don't ever devalue what you are doing. I certainly couldn't do it. It takes a good eye and imagination to put this kind of thing together. If I tried, it would probably look like a bowl of Fruity Pebbles :rotfl: .

Now this is true. Traffic is a way of life out here that is for sure. What I was tying to convey is that Sunday mornings the freeways are usually free flowing traffic at top speeds. So it should only take 20 min and only 2 freeways to get to the port.

Val, I love both versions, but have a slight preference for the brighter colours and the vivid blue.

We might be going to 12 hour shifts very soon. We currently do a mix of 8 and 12's with me doing 8's so this may have a factor in when we fly. I am thinking of Friday with 2 days at QM. Then 1 day at DL on the return..

He may not get a lot of help here :confused3

I, for one, am not a lover of airport hotels. That being said, I think we're going to fly into Vegas a few days prior, and then fly down the hill the morning of. Karmel shuttle from Airport to Port.

I asked here cause I though there is a lot of returning cruisers on this sailing who are traveling a lot and might know a lot more then I do :)

Not that this pertains at all to the hotel question, but, do you fly out of KCI? And what airline are you planning to use?:thumbsup2

This is wonderful!! Thanks again, Val & Bob for doing all of this.

ummmm.....don't want to start any trouble, I don't mean to offend anyone with what's been on my mind.

On some of the other longer Disney cruises I've done in the past the first post has been kept up to date with information and links for many things for the cruise. I know we all have busy lives and it's not an easy task to take on. I'm lucky if I have time once a week to try and catch up on reading this thread. In the past it was limited to 250 pages, when that was reached it got locked and a new thread was started with all the information and so on. I believe the DISboards has a limit on posts or something like that per thread.

I love them both.

Sad news.

Air Tran is cutting flights/locations eff 3/9/12

Now I have to find another airline and no doubt a higher cost.:sad2:

I just want the April/May schedule to come out! I'm about to book Delta just to get it done.

Some of you have been on longer Disney cruises - longer than a week - and we were wondering about their dinners. Do they repeat the same menus over again after a week or do they have new ones after day 7? So do they just do one pirates night and other specialty dinners?

Special/different menu for every night! :thumbsup2

Like Jackie said, they are all different (we did the 14-night WBTA last year w/no menu repeats). And for the longer cruises, they have special menus that are not seen on the other cruises. I have a feeling they will adapt to the itinerary as well, since they did that for the Med cruises. But, PLEASE, DCL, no Spam :rotfl:.
