I am soooo excited about this cruise that I'm having a hard time concentrating on other things. I live right outside of Philly. Just wondering :confused3 :yay:if there is anyone from the PA, NJ, NY, Baltimore etc area that might be interested in a Philly meet. :grouphug: It would be lots of fun.

Bev

Hi Bev....we're in the Pocono Mountains....we could do a Philly meet. We love to do mini DIS meets before cruising together.

This didn't work that way for us on the Dream last month...! :confused3

Maybe it's a Dream thing since they only do brunch on some sailings (?), but they told us before we went (phone) it's always for dinner ONLY. I would love for it to be brunch too, because we usually skip dinner there...not any interest after a couple hohum ones.

I'm definitely going to check on our ebta next month!!!

.

Nope, it's not just a Dream thing. I just had brunch with a group of various levels of DCL cruisers on the Wonder....first Alaskan. I didn't have to ask for anything. They automatically did it. Same as my experience on the Dream. It's definitely NOT for dinner only. Someone just didn't know. Ask to speak with the manager. He should honor it.

We did not look when on the DREAM last week but they used to have a laundry list and bag in the stateroom. You would include a list of items in the bag and figure the cost that way.

Re: map of cruise: on our WBPC in 2008 someone asked Captain Thord when the itinerary had been changed because the map of our route did not match the website, souvenirs or postcards.

Captain Thord said that the route was not changed but that map were designed by Marketing and they did not ask the Captains about the route.

Jan :earsgirl:

On the Dream MV they had the list and a great laundry bag. DCL still charges per item unfortunately. I bought two of the Dream laundry bags for 5.00 each cuz I loved them so much. The funny part is that I probably won't ever use them since we use the pop up hampers. They were too cute to pass up.:rotfl2:

Hi all I just wanted to share some photos I took today at California Adventure after work today. They had a sneak preview of the new little mermaid ride. Nice dark ride. Nothing special but much needed for that park.

Thanks for the photos Alan. It looks a cute little ride.

How is the whole construction coming along in California Adventure? We had a fabulous room at VGC after the PC cruise overlooking the park and the works. It seemed almost the whole park was being worked on.

Well the the main enterance is under constuction now as is the front of the park. The Paradise Pier section of the park will finnaly be complete on July 1, and then of course Cars Land is still about a year away. I belive June of next year. All in all this will finally be a great Disney Theme park. Just took them 11 years to get it right.

Yes, there is a big difference already. It won't be the black sheep any more.

There sure is a huge difference. The new Little Mermaid ride really does help out a lot. I think once everything is done next year I just maybe be able to say it is a great park.

Just popping in to say " Hello ". If anyone is interested and will be able to get to Myrtle Beach...........We have a mini-dis meet set. June 11th @ 6:00 PM at Joe's Crab Shack at Broardway. :)

Also wanted to share a full page story that was in our newspaper. Well here is the short version.:rotfl2:

The park service spent 56 million in renovation. They want to show 2 sides and include Japan's viewpoint. The museum will show clips from Japanese news reels. The exhibits also show Japan and the U.S creeping closer to war, with newspaper headlines about Japan's invasion of China and U.S. sanctions against Japan.

The enlarged museum allows for more of the U.S story to be told, as well. There are photos of bodies crowding the Honolulu morgue, coffins being buried at Kaneohe Beach and a burned corpse at Hickam Field.

A glass display case shelters a pharmacist mate's bloodied white uniform.

There is no change to the USS Arizona.

We are doing a 7 day WDW Vacation this October. Would it be worth it to even think about going to DL before the cruise? I have never bee to DL only WDW, so not sure how the 2 compare. I would hate to spend the time and money to go to a park (s) our first time in Cali, only to be dissappointed because I have been spoiled by WDW. I think we are flying in Friday morning, and just would like to know if the time would be better spent sight seeing other places.

Well I think DL is totally worth seeing. See here are the two reasons. First off the Size of DL park itself. We have way more rides than the MK at WDW. Second remember this is the only park Walt walked in. Nothing beats the original.

just back from the EBTA - now I can focus on this cruise. Been reading posts backwards:

We also have a collapsable hamper that goes with us to DVC resorts! I have not thought about taking it on cruises, usually I just throw in a mesh laundry bag.

To the American contingent - Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

I love using a pop up hamper on the cruise - I even gave them to our secret mickey's on the EBTA this year - as I found them at walgreens on sale one day for $2.50

We took a HAL cruise to Alaska last year and they have a great laundry deal. They leave a laundry bag in your room and you can stuff it as full as possible and it's only 20.00. I sure wish DCL would catch on to that.

Just off the EBTA cruise and disney did this 2 times on the cruise - $30 per bag - and boy did i stuff it!

Odd questions but I know you guys will know the answers...

Are you allowed to bring your own washing detergent on board, and how are the w/d's aboard the ship? I know at some of the resorts it takes 3 times longer to dry laundry than it does here at home. :goodvibes

we do - the laundry sheets, but before those I would scoop out one load of powder and put it into a snack size baggie and bring it with us.

Alrighty, folks!! The lanyard team is now officially full----I had hoped to get 25 members and we reached 25 members in less than 3 days (or maybe even 2?!?)....you guys are definitely motivated!!

I go on the EBTA where we did not have internet for almost the first week and see what I miss - I was looking forward to helping with this - oh well - thanks to everyone doing it.

try putting in your own e-mail, if that doesn't work, use:
vjvanderheiden@aol.com

password is aloha! all lower case

is there a way to get the graphic so we can do our own tshirts if we want to do it on an iron on transfer?

Krisann (back to catching up)

Krisann--WELCOME BACK. How was the crossing compared to last year? We are on WBTA.

Alan--Thanks for the pics. Shirley called and told me all about it. I am jealous as Ariel is my favorite princess. Anything they do in that park IS an improvement.

Hey Krisann,

I just sent you a PM....but just so everyone knows....while the lanyard team is technically "closed" right now.....I am still letting people PM me and sign up to be "back ups"------it's kind of like the first runner up in Miss America....if the winner cannot complete her duties, then you will get the crown! :lmao: Seriously, though, it's still a year away and there is always the cahnce that circumstances will change between now and when it's time for the lanyards to actually get ordered and paid for...so some member(s) of the lanyard team who WANT to help out, may end up in a situation where they can't. If that happens, then having a few "back up" folks would be super helpful. Also....I have always chosen to have about 25 or 26 total because that is a reasonable number of lanyard team members to list on the back of the ID badges but also that usually breaks down to be about $25 or $30/person contribution...if the lanyards end up being much more expensive for this trip, though, then I might want/need to add a few more folks to the team to help keep the individual costs down.

That is so true. I truly believe that DCA will be a gem when they are done.

Krissan, how did you know about this the two times they did it. Was it just a blurb in the Navigator or something???
