Hey all----

Just wanted to post a little update about lanyards. Jason and I are going to take the lead on lanyards as we promised before our Alaska trip....but it's going to take us a couple weeks to get our system up and running. Once we have it figured out we will post directions here (and then probably regularly every other week or so after that until the trip).

Erik

Thanks, guys! I would like to contribute to the lanyard cause. Also, just wanted to say that I really enjoyed following your trip on your blog. I was supposed to be on both of those cruises but had to cancel and now wish that I could have gone. Looking forward to meeting you next year!

we have been researching helicopter tours for kauai...so many companys still sorting through reviews and prices..not cheap, but everyone says so worth it....anybody have a company they want to recomend?

We just returned home from or 7 night Eastern Caribbean where we booked this cruise for next year. I didn't read anything in this thread yet, but i will in coming days.

We are family of 4, me The Mom LOL, DH, DS (7) and DD (6).

We would like to participate in all kind of things, just give me few days so I can catch up with all in this thread. I can do that in between doing laundry from our last cruise!

Welcome Aboard!

Nice to see someone from at least my part of the country joining...lol. I am in Merriam, Ks, about 3 hrs or so from Lebanon, Mo.. So we are practically neighbors.. We used to camp and canoe down the Niangua River down that way!.. :cool2:

Hello and welcome. I am hoping you can answer a question for me. If you were able to go to the CC reception, when was it? We are taking an Eastern this Oct. and we are trying to plan our brunch at Palo, but we don't want to miss the reception. Thanks.

Hi there neighbor :) I feel so lost here...seems a lot of people know each other for ages :) We just finished our first cruise and I still feel like a newbie.

I didn't go to CC reception, but I can go through navigators i brought home with me and check.

We have gone to Alaska twice on RCI both were great but have no desire to go back. We did have a whale breach right in front of the whale boat. The Red dog was fun too. We have some other vacations planned between now and April. Hilton Head in August, 7 night Carnival cruise in Oct 3 hours away from home! For my Birthday in Dec a 9 day vacation to Disney with a 4 night Dream cruise on my Birthday. For Hawaii the only shore excursion we will do is Molikini in Maui the rest ok our own with rental cars. Hawaii the black sand beach, we did the Volcano and Akka falls last time on our own. We are not sure what to do for Kuai?
My plan for Kauai is ziplining! :cool1: Something I've always wanted to do and hopefully will finally have a chance. :yay:

Good Morning Cruisers!

We are also back from Alaska, but unlike Holly - I do not plan to go back and read all those back pages! I am just starting from here, and if there was anything important since page 91 - them I am sure it will be repeated sometime in the next year!

Alaska was awesome! Really enjoyed the cruise and, of course, the people!

Have a great day folks!

 I mostly skimmed. (Yeah, I cheated.) ;)

I don't think you'll find it in your navigators, unless it was different from ours on the Alaska. It was by invitation only because it was for gold and platinum members only. That's why I missed it because doing the back to back, the 2nd week is when I turned gold, but there was a glitch in the system (I suspect because there were 500 B2Bers) so I wasn't recognized as gold until guest services called reservations in FL to confirm (they had to do this for many others too), so I didn't get my invite and missed it. :sad2:

I'll look....I'm far away to be gold or platinum member...we just finished our 1st cruise and this one will be our 2nd.

You've got almost a year to make friends with all of us. :goodvibes

We zipped in Puerto Vallarta and it was incredible. We might consider it again in Hawaii. Do you have a link?

We zipped with Skyline Eco Adventures at Ka'anapali on Maui - this is what my niece would recommend as the #1 activity for that island.

http://www.zipline.com/

Just checked their website - now they also have a location on the Big Island (Hawaii), very near our port of Hilo. It is at Akaka Falls, which in itself is a nice visit. This zip line adventure consists of 6 zipline crossings and the tour lasts from 2-2.5 hours.

Currently priced at $135 if booked online

Tours start each hour from 8am - 3pm

Restrictions:
- weight between 80 and 260 # (too light and you get stuck - too heavy and they have problems making sure you stop)
- age 10 or older - under 18 needs legal guardian to sign the release and waiver of liability (required for everyone)
- no smoking on tour
- able to walk 1/2 mile over uneven terrain

Here are some pictures (non-ziplining) of Akaka Falls:

Ziplining in Ka'anapali, Maui with Skyline Eco Adventures. This is in the West Maui Mountains, near Lahaina, about 27 miles (45 minutes) from our port at Kahului.

These are from a March trip, during the dry season. The island seen across the water is Molokai (home of Father Damien's colony for those afflicted with Hansen's Disease - Leprosy).

Hi there neighbor :) I feel so lost here...seems a lot of people know each other for ages :) We just finished our first cruise and I still feel like a newbie.

I think this cruise, with being such a special one as there aren't any more YET, filled with repeat cruisers, and many of us have cruised together before. But, we all love to meet 'new to us' cruisers and by the time this cruise comes along we should all know each other pretty well!!!!!:dance3: Please slap us all if we get a bit too cliquey though!!! We really don't want to appear that way.

It is going to be a fabulous cruise!:yay:

Don't worry. Yes, there are quite a few people who know each other. This is kind of the nature of the beast. The special cruises do a attract the same kind of crowd. There are people on this cruise that I have done two or three cruises with. Don't let this bother you though. We are a really friendly and inclusive bunch and I for one am looking forward to meeting new people.

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

It's another dreary day here in upstate NY - last week we were stuck in a sunny pattern, this week all rain. AMAZING how much longer THIS week feels!

I was jonesing for a quick trip to the world until I checked southwest - 1300$ RT for two.:scared1: What's up with THAT?

Lexa, we were on the PC with quite a few of the Hawaii cruisers - and lots of them had cruised together before - but everybody we met were friendly.

You'll fit right in - especially if you post and people get to know you! If, on the other hand, you tend to be a lurker and stay in stealth, that's kinda the mode you'll be in on the ship, too, because no one will know to look for you.

HAPPY DAY, all!

New cruisers you will make a lot of new friends. Wear your lanyard and Disboarders will come up and talk to you. We made a lot of new friends on our cruises. It was just my husband and I but everywhere we went on the ship we would find some Disboarders. It made the cruises a lot more enjoyable.

I know exactly how you feel! It can be a bit intimidating. Even though I've done 2 other DCL cruises, they were nothing like this, just the number of activities being discussed is mind boggling, and everyone seems to know what it all means: Like the "sponsor the landyard" thing - seriously what is this. :confused3 But I figure that by the time we cruise I will undersand everything I need to as long as I stay engaged and involved. I've been posting just a bit, and everyone has been really wonderful, so dive in the water is fine. ;) Lately, I haven't been posting much, mostly lurking, but that is because I'm trying to get ready for our Alaska cruise next week (ssshhh don't tell, it's not DCL :rolleyes1). But, once we're back, I'll be diving back in! Since I'm pretty sure I won't be able to get the kids out of the kids clubs, it will be nice to see people I know rather than wandering the ship alone.

BTW - I have thorougly enjoyed all the pictures and blogs, thanks to everyone for sharing. Even the Alaska ones! I know, I know - I'm not even doing Skagway, but I needed to read all about it anyway! :rotfl:
