I have an actual Eli... It it not short for anything, that is his given name.. Works great!.. No need to shorten!.. I also have a Lucas, but we do call him Luke..

We have a good friend whose name is Eli but a lot of us call him E. Seems like some people want nicknames and some do not.

Of course ! Thanks Jan for adding my info. on facebook.:)

thanks for permission to share the Mother's Day picture.

:guilty: sorry it took me so long and that I forgot to put you on the Hawaii date. :upsidedow

Interesting Paula, do they still serve the lobster tail ? Since my DH isn't coming :sad1:I might just consider this.

I can't say I noticed, we are vegetarian so it wouldn't have been something we would have looked for - I think the menu is much the same as the main dining rooms for the "special" nights.

Should've known I would get some Disney names her of all places...Walt, Roy aswell? What about Mickey? :rotfl:

We had a big list for our last dog - not knowing if it was going to be a girl or a boy - they were all Disney names and would have been suitable for a child or furbaby.

We already know our next furbaby will be Flynn.

If I may throw in my two cents here. Not having formal attire is no reason to skip the awesome menus usaly served those nights. I say look at the menu, if you like it show for dinner. No one says you have to dress up. Sorry am just such a huge fan of the dining rooms so I never miss. Personally if you were at my table and showed up casual on formal night I would not care at all.

I have to say we were rather underwhelmed by the food on the WBTA - very bland. If I'd ended up with it in a restaurant at home, I would have sent it back or not paid for it. I actually complained about it and had a letter a few weeks after arriving home. The dinner at Topsiders seemed much better quality and no so mass produced.

The Walmart/Sam's Club building is just a block mauka (toward the mountains) of Ala Moana Center, up Keeamouku Street. It's a double-deck building with the Sam's on top. Souvenirs in Walmart.

(BTW, I love Hawaii and love seeing pictures, talking about it ....)

:cool1: And we are COUNTING ::yes:: on you talking about it a lot for the next 12 months so that we fell somewhat knowledgeable :woohoo: about it all. :thumbsup2

Me too.........We will be going to that very Sam's Club in about a month from now:thumbsup2. Tony's brother's house is ours for two weeks; fly on over for some ohana time.:cool1:

Goofprincess - I hope you scout out some good places for us to see when we get there. That Dole Whip picture that Lynne sent was great. I missed getting one last time we were at WDW. I think Dole stills owns a lot of the pineapple groves there. Try some pineapple with a little salt on it. The salt changes the whole taste. When we were in Hawaii on our hneymoon we took the tour of the plantation there and the Dole guides told us about putting salt on it. It really is pretty good.
Anxious to see how the area changesd in 45 years.

Weighing in on the baby name - I like Orlando!

Thanks for all your prayers - b.i.l is out of the OR and in recovery. It's been a long day.
:grouphug: Sending good thoughts your way for your BIL and family!

What are the odds that a concierge room will open between now and sail time? One was open a few weeks ago and I really wanted to change my 5B to the concierge room. My TA was out of town so I told myself that if it is still there when she got back (a few days from that point) then it was meant to be. How foolish was I!! Of course it was gone the morning she got back to me. Now I am kicking myself. I know people would lost their deposit if they cancel so are my chances slim and none??
They don't have to cancel though, they could move their reservation to a different cruise, so tell your TA to keep looking, and I'm sending a bit of pixie dust your way to help. :tinker:

I received a reply to my email to DCL. The relevant parts are copied below:
Your thoughtfulness in sharing your observations with ways we can
improve our cruise experience is much appreciated. Please be assured
that your thoughts will be shared with management.

Input from our Guests is a valuable tool in determining ways we can make
their visits more convenient and enjoyable. This is very important to
us, as we are committed to offering a cruise experience that meets the
Disney standards of excellence and provides the type of magical vacation
our Guests have come to expect.

Although the length of time at a port of call is subject to change
without notice, the itinerary for the 15-Night Hawaiian Cruise is in
already in place.

As far as the opportunity to purchase special merchandise while sailing,
please remember, there will be 4 days at sea to get to the islands and
then 5 days to sail back to Ensenada. There should be plenty of time to
make those special purchases. In addition, the shops are not able to be
open while in port, so you should be able to enjoy the islands to the
full.

Happy Mothers Day tomorrow everyone!

Yeah! permission to talk about Hawaii. Active DISers understand how hard it is to find someone listen to you when you are excited about a vacation.

I wish it had been there when I lived up the street (1.5 miles) while travel nursing.

You have to show your membership card at the food court - even though you showed it to get into the store. And yet the Costco food courts are on the outside of their buildings and don't ask you for proof of membership.

(The Sam's Club food is outside, in the parking deck, at the one near Pearl).

I've gotten Dole Whip at the kiosk in the Ala Moana Center food court. Delish! Think I'll give that salt-on-pineapple a try.

Oh, I think you are going to be in for a big shock/surprise when you see modern Honolulu. It's changed so much since the days of the Brady Bunch movie and Hawaii 5-0 and just in the 10 years since I've been going.

The Dole Plantation (on the way to the North Shore of Oahu) They have a large maze onsite.

I like Flynn, it is my nephews middle name, already taken in my family :(

I remember you saying that you weren't impressed with the food, is it because there wasn't enough choice for vegetarians, or just the food quality in general?
We were very happy with the food, but we aren't vegetarians so probably had more choice. I didn't love the desserts, but that was probably a good thing.

Weighing in on the baby name - I like Orlando!

Thanks, I think Orlando is winning :thumbsup2

Your letter from DCL was typical Disney, makes you feel all warm and fuzzy, let's hope it's not just talk but some action aswell. ;)

That letter was the kinda response one usaly gets. I hope it will not stop others from writing in. The way I see it is, they need to address the stitutation or they will get bad reviews from this cruise. Please continue to write in my fellow cruisers.

Yes I agree Alan. I felt so special that they had passed my issues onto Management. I thought I had really got through to them!!!:lmao: They do seem to read them though as individual queries are usually answered in some basic way, as in the pin issue in that last copied reply.

Lets hope the combined vast number of emails/letters will make them think they will have to do something.

Hi all
Just a quick stop by to wish all our overseas friends a Happy Mothers Day! :grouphug: hope you all get spoilt by your families :thumbsup2

You most certainly do not need formal attire. For the Baltic last summer I brought two pairs of slacks and a few dress shirts which I added a tie to on formal night. A sportcoat just took up too much space in the bags. I didn't feel at all out of place.

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Happy Mother's day, Moms!

I had this photo out to share with someone else and thought you might like to see our family. It's about 4 years and -60 pounds ago

I look forward to hearing about the changes you see too. What islands did you go to?
You'll find most of the sugar cane and pineapple fields are gone. The Dole factory in honolulu is long closed. Most of our pineapples come from the Phillipines, very little sugar produced. No more field burning. While still beautiful, sadly, very different.

Amanda and I haven't been on the boards since Wednesday since we have a new Mouseketeer in the family. Our niece gave birth to a healthy 8lb, 14oz, 21 1/2" baby boy on Friday 5/6 at 655pm. He is so beautiful! His name is Brycen Levi but I shall call him Cubbie. (That was a nod to Dory btw). We are going to miss is first birthday due to the cruise but we will make it up to him when we get home. We are already trying to figure out when we can take him to WDW for his first visit. We are thinking Oct of 2012 for Halloween or March 2013 for ESPN the Weekend.

I will try to catch up with all the threads I missed tomorrow on my day off.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Dis Mom's!
