April 29, 2012 ~ Aloha! ~ Wonder to Hawaii- who is with me?

No problem checking out the hotels. :) I'm hoping to get a reasonable rate and clean place t:thumbsup2o stay to party with other DISer's staying there before the cruise. I'd rather be spending the money on DL or LA city tours and not a hotel. This is a group venture -people checking out tours; vow renewals; sharing information. We all just want to have fun :dance3:

Bev

Really I think that's all we need.:)

Aloha all!!!

We will be joining you on this cruise as well. Travel party consists of myself, Jordan, Sally (DW), Kailey (DD) and Avery(DD). This will be our 4th cruise and first time back on the Wonder since our honeymoon. We were scheduled for the WBTA last year but had twin girls instead. It will be their first cruise and we are so excited to bring them along as well. We haven't been to Hawai'i since 2005 so it will be exciting to go back.

Can't wait to have a pineapple Dole Whip and fresh fruit at the Dole Plantation on Oahu. Nothing better than fresh fruit in paradise.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Jordan

Welcome Aboard ! That pineapple dole whip sounds good about now.:)

Hello, we will be joining you on this cruise as well. Traveling party consists of me (Heidi) and my DH (Chris). This will be my 11th sailing on DCL and my 4th cruise on the Wonder. We will also be sailing with my parents (my mom is JiminyC_fan), and some good friends (the Dudettes). Looking forward to this cruise because I have always wanted to go to Hawaii! Can't wait to meet some new friends.

Welcomw Aboard ! This cruise is going to be a blast !

Hello all I was reading that The Disney Wonder will be in drydock from September 7-19, 2011 in Canada . Exact plans for this drydock have not been announced. What do you guy think they will be doing new paint new carpet fix things that broke and little updates or do you think they will do any major add on's maybe add magic porthole or even aquaduck (just dreaming)?

And now so will I (be singing that song all day)!

Welcome to all the newcomers to the thread!

Just in case you forget any words.:rotfl2:

I was born in the wagon of a travelling show
My momma used to dance for the money they'd throw
Poppa would do whatever he could
Preach a little gospel
Sell a couple bottles of doctor good

Gypsies tramps and thieves
We'd hear it from the people of the town
They'd call us
Gypsies tramps and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
And lay their money down

Picked up a boy just south of Mobile
Gave him a ride filled him with a hot meal
I was sixteen he was twenty one
Rode with us to Memphis
And poppa woulda shot him if he knew what he'd done

Gypsies tramps and thieves
We'd hear it from the people of the town
They'd call us
Gypsies tramps and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
And lay their money down

Never had schooling but he taught me well
With his smooth southern style
Three months later I'm a gal in trouble
And I haven't seen him for a while
Uh huh I haven't seen him for a while uh huh
She was born in the wagon of a travelling show
Her momma had to dance for the money they'd throw
Grandpa'd do whatever he could
Preach a little gospel
Sell a couple bottles of doctor good

Gypsies tramps and thieves
We'd hear it from the people of the town
They'd call us
Gypsies tramps and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
And lay their money down

Welcome to all the people that joined this thread since the last time I checked in.

I have to say, this is the most welcoming, friendly group!! :grouphug: I see there are a lot of you that know each other, but you all make everyone feel so welcome. Thank you all so much. I do check in everyday, but am a little shy at first. It takes me a while to open up, but I think you guys will have me chatting in no time! Also, thanks for all the research and organizing that many of you are doing. You guys are so amazing, and I can't wait to meet you all!

Judy (and Jim)

No need to be shy with this group! We have sailed with many of them on one cruise or another and they really are a very accepting group!! :grouphug:

I too ordered 2 books on Hawaii One from Frommers and the one from Ann Vipod. I am still trying to get another cabin to open up so I cam get my discount and OBC.

another question for the cruisers that have done these long ones::

I am so used to planning out day by day based on shorter cruise itinerarys that pretty much never change...however, do we get to find out at all before we board what days will be formal, pirate, who the entertainers will be etc????

I have never gotten official notified until the docs sent a few weeks before the cruise. However, we have always been very fortunate to have people on the thread who have a way to find out much earlier. Those who have a concierge can contact them and find out about the schedule. Based on the TA and PC cruises I would anticipate 2 formal nights, and 1 semi-formal. One of the formal nights will be the Captain Gala. Because DCL has never done a Hawaii cruise, anything could be instore. We might also get some info from people who have a contact with a crew member. I am sure we will get advance info here on the board.

"Hawaii by Cruise Ship" by Anne Vipond!!

Porch swing, sweet tea & new book...woohoo!:cloud9:

Now don't laugh at me but I bought that book the day we booked. I would say I was a bit too excited, :rotfl2:. Actually we sailed to Alaska last year and her book was extremely helpful.

Welcome, and congratulations on the twins!! My daughter has twin girls and they are the best!!!!

We have twin girls as well. They are now 30. Now, one has a set of boy/girl twins and the other has twin step daughters. PoohFriend, below, is one of my twins.

We bought that one along with some Island books, maps, and Disneyland titles last night. The cruise book is extremely helpful and it's hard to put down! :)

We have found the "ULTIMATE ------- GUIDEBOOK by Andrew Doughty
Oahu
Maui
Kaui
Hawaii
The best guideline books for visiting the islands. Even though we have been more then a dozen times, we still buy updated versions to refer to. Check them out at the bookstore or pickup a used one at a second hand store if not to old.

:rolleyes1 Thanks Tina. Now I can't get that song out of my mind. Maybe we should find a band to play it for the 1st DISboard meet on the ship. Okay, everyone, :dance3:on the count of three :rockband: let's sing.:

I hope it's little more than just new carpet and such

ditto what Val said, I would think a Hawaiian theme night too!

Not laughing at all!!

Very informative reading

Alan - Will send an Email about the pins to DCL. The PC was a nightmare.
Awesome. Yes it was kinda a nightmare, but we just had fun with it. Still I really don't want to do that again. If I have to miss a Lakers playoff game next year because I am waiting again for pins I just may blow a fuse. I just hope all the hoopla over the Fantasy will be done so we will not get overlooked again.

Now there's an idea...... I may have to incorporate the title into a new logo.....
:rolleyes1 :rotfl2:
