April 29, 2012 ~ Aloha! ~ Wonder to Hawaii- who is with me?

I don't know if I'm just paranoid because I travel alone with my kids or what, but I have to admit that I'm a bit nervous putting names and stateroom on the public spreadsheet. Not that it matters right now, since we're still GTY, but I do want to participate, I'm just worried about this being exposed to anyone that wants to look. Any advice, opinions, admonitions, and reassurance is appreciated.

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: These 2 pics and your captions cracked me up! And totally make me NOT feel as guilty about not taking my own son on this cruise because this is TOTALLY the reaction I'd get from him! :rotfl2: I was struggling with the guilt today, so THANK YOU for posting these and making me laugh! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
My pleasure! I'm sure my soon to be 16 year old son is mortified that I even posted this, but it always makes me chuckle. What a difference 5 years makes and I'm sure I won't get this look again if we hike. :rotfl:

closed on Sundays...:sad2:
:sad2: Oh no - Sunday again... last time we were there Sunday and could only take pictures of the outside and grounds.

I hope there is a subject to change on this!.. I have been told that it would be awesome to have an overnight stay, so that we can enjoy a Luau.. I would be ok with on less day at sea~:cheer2:
IMO I wouldn't be sad if they took time from Ensenada. If they do change this I hope they stay in Maui longer, The Old Lahaina Luau was an incredible experience, and I'd love to do that again if possible. Although I think we're on the other side of the island, so this may not be possible anyway. I kept wondeing if they were doing a luau at Aulani? Does anyone know?

I have to agree... I heard that legally they have to stop in a foreign port, which is why they picked Ensenada, because it was the closest foreign port. I am not sure how long it takes to get to the other side of the island, but, if they stayed over night in the island, then we would surely have enough time to travel from one side to the next? I am not familier with the islands, so I am just shooting from the hip here!.. Hopefully, DCL will get feed back from the cruisers on this ship to make an adjustment to the current itenerary. A year is quite a long time to "tweek" the schedule!.. Maybe we need to start a "Hawaiian Cruisers Crusade" to hang on the islands longer!.. :grouphug:

We're in. Marilyn and John, wrinklies and proud Old Geezers!! Well only 'in' as far as we have a reservation. Still have to convince John, find some serious money, and stay well!!! How could we NOT cruise with so many old friends.

:banana::banana: Marilyn! How wonderful! We'd love to cruise with you and John again! X

Finger crossed please for me that I will find a roomie for this cruise (thanks to Monica) and you will see me aboard!!

.....and ditto to you Noel, table matey, crossing everything you can get to cruise with us again!

I'm all for "tweeking" - more time in the islands would be awesome. On our 2007 cruise we stopped in Ensenada but it was for less than an hour and it was right around midnight. It wasn't an embarktion port, which is why I was suprised that it was an embarktion port on this cruise taking up over 8 hours.

:tink:Please, please, please DCL add at least 5 hours to one of the ports so we can do some night time activities. :tink: sprinkling pixie dust hoping.

I wonder who one, or a group of cruisers would contact to suggest this? I think an overnight would be great.. Not just a few hours!.. With so many days at sea, there should be some room to "tweek". Or yes, even less time in Ensenada. I have read alot of people not even planning on leaving the ship there, so it would be nice to only dock there for a short time!~

I would love to go to a luau, i will sign that petition to extend one days port hours:goodvibes

does anybody know are the wave phones on the wonder now? that would be nice.

i have a ressie with dreams for a dummy date, but the ta couldnt get me a better rate when booking opened than i could for a new ressie that morning. However, i know that when rooms open up tonight i could get a better room with 10% off than the rate i have, it's frustrating, but i suppose their is nothing i can do because when rooms open up dcl phones arent open at 12 midnight even if i did have control of the ressie right and i cant transfer it online am i correct? thanks for any suggestions.

Just use the contact us link in the DCL home page on the bottom. The ship does need to stop in Ensanada as it needs to visit a forgin port before the cruise is over. Count me in on one who will not be getting off in Ensanada. When contacting them also please ask them to use a RSP process for any special pins they may have for this cruise, or for that matter any merchandise they may have for this cruise. I hope enough of you will do this this as I did so the problems we had on the PC cruise will not be repeated here.

I can understand being careful with your kids names and Sr numbers. We tend to be all a bit blasé about posting info on the DIS as we feel safe. I have been posting info about my GK's for over 6 years without any incidents. We do not give last names so I think that helps. When I make spread sheets that are public, I usually do not include SR numbers for the families with kids. If I do, I try to send them in email or PM's

Just my thoughts.....

I'm going to Hawaii! Tons of familiar faces! This will be my first time in Hawaii! Can't wait! :cool1::cool1:

Just spoke to DCL for ground transfers from their resort at DL to the port and then back to the resort. She quoted $30 which I think was the same price we paid for the transfers on the PC cruise. She could not book the transfers yet because they were not loaded into the system. As far as Paradise Pier Hotel they will not be booking next April until around August.

Lynne's comment about the vow renewel on the beach sounded lovely, but I don't know how they arranged that. We will help in any way we could . On the 08 PC there was a priest and minister on board. I would be great if they were on board this time and could do the ceremony.

Crossing fingers and everything else we can cross!! Hope it works out that you can join us.

I don't think a ship can just say we are going to stay longer than scheduled. Port time costs $$, which is the reason the ship will not wait for you if you are late. We can ask, of course, but I doubt Disney will cough up more $$ in port fees just so we can go to a luau.

Agreed. I know this maybe weird, but a luau holds no interest for me.

I scored a cabin last night about 1 am but am having a problem with DCL using my OBC that I had booked on the PC they can't do it until more catg 9 cabins open up. We did a r/t Hawaii on RCI. Rent a car in ports will save you tons of $. From port to volcano is about 30 min and costs about $10 to get in per car load.

I thought I saw you post you were not interested in this cruise? What changed your mind?

Last time I was in Hawaii, I visited the Polynesian Center and went to their luau which was quite tasty.

What I should have said is I have no interest in the one at the Polynesian center because I have read they do not serve drinks with caffenie. Well I need my Iced Tea. Second because I am spending a lot on this trip and paid for my meals. I really don't want to pay twice for my meals.

Welcome!! So glad you are joining us!

It's not only a luau, but just more time to enjoy the islands, especially the big island that takes longer to explore and enjoy. We shall see, it is over a year from now, so the "itinerary can change with out notice" clause can come into affect.:cool1::worship:
