Jan - I did not see my name on the Facebook/Hawaiian list. Please add it- thanks

How are you guys getting from the port to the airport after the cruise? We would like to stay in CA for two more days after the cruise and seems we will need to rent a car at the LAX (we are flying in and out from there). As I read rental places are off site and DCL transportation will not take me there. I can take their bus and then shuttle to the rental company of my choice...but thats a hassle....

I tried Super Shuttle, to see what price they will give me (I didn't call them, got rate online). I get nice price from LAX to the hotel in San Pedro, but from port to LAX is too much for my budget. Maybe I need to call and see what they tell me....

I am guessing that a DCL excursion might be a luau and the timing will be adjusted for our all-aboard!!!

:)

That is what I am hoping for! Both DH and DMiL really want to do a luau, so this would be perfect for us!

Lexa, pricing for super shuttle should be the same both ways. I used them this past January after the WBPC, and was really happy with the service and cost. You may want to call them, there may be a kink in the website or something. Good luck!

Is there any more information on the group hotel, or when we can book? Did I miss that? Also, is there a shuttle from the hotel to port? How is everyone getting from their hotel to the port itself?

I hope everyone is having a great Labor Day (or Monday, if not celebrating)!

here is a mockup of the shirt from the shirt company and one closeup. On page one, 3rd posting, is the info on the shirt, including who has sent me an order form.

love it!
after the fairweathers visit and we decide how much fabric to use to make a shirt for ann's bunny, we will be ordering our shirts. I also want to order some extra fabric for myself.

I was catching up with the facebook page for our cruise and one of the gals Jan Easterly has been asking everyone to put their real name and Dis name down and has been keeping a list. Thought it could be useful for some and the FE gifts they are working on. So here it is as of today--

OH, MY I'D BETTER JOIN!:cutie:

I spoke with a representative of the Pacific Whale Foundation. She confirmed what Bob and I remembered: It is about an hour drive from our port, Kahului, to their boats in Lahaina. It is a lovely drive with a number of nice snorkeling sites along the way. The other issue is that, while they guarantee you will see whales, it is not a money-back guarantee. They give you another whale watching trip, which is fine if you are staying in Maui but not so good if you are there only one day.

If you are interested in a whale watching tour, they did a lovely one. Something they did that others we have been on have not is they had a hydrophone to pick up and identify the humpback's songs. We could hear the songs of the whales we were watching -- very neat.

Regarding the sail by of the volcano: Those of us who will sail on the Wonder before our Hawaii trip, such as Corinna and Graham, maybe we could ask the captain if it is in the plans. I know the exact course they take is at the discretion of the officers of the ship. Might a little eager encouragement help?

Also
The Contact Us at the bottom of the DCL website pages is a good way to share suggestions!! Granted, the first few times you get back a "canned" reply but after sending several different suggestions in a row, I have gotten replies with a little more personalization. I think that having the same ideas come from different people and not the same wording shows them what we are interested in not just what tour operators hawk to them.

Done - Happy Labor Day from Foggy and Cold San Francisco.

Thanks re the shirt on page 1 Val.

I hope you all are having a Happy Labor Day. I spelled it as per your way as it is your day!!:thumbsup2

I would call the cruise line first and ask them what options are available at port and if they know rates...may save you a few calls and hours...

For the record, I disassociate myself entirely from the attire of rabbits.

Chuck and I will be sharing a few beers :drinking1:drinking1

I did promise that today I would post when one can book SWA for this cruise. Well Oct 3rd is the date. On that day you will be able to take care of all your needs till June 1,2012.

I just wanted to say I love the shirt design. I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Thanks for the info, Alan. We're looking forward to doing that.

Thanks Alan for the info....we were considering waiting to book our return flight after the MV of the Fantasy, but decided to book today to fly home on April 9...the last day of today's booking window that opened...prices were a little higher than we normally pay, but realized it was Easter weekend.

First thanks for the business. Second, yes Easter it is harder to come across discounts. Third. Your welcome for the info. I guess happy booking.

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Southwest....I have been a fan of Southwest since they had the show on A&E...I think it was called Airline or something....I always hope that someday I will run into one of the people we saw on the show....For me, you can't beat the prices on Southwest and the service is top notch....we are lucky that we live close to Buffalo NY and can get a non-stop flight to Orlando (wish they offered non-stop flights to LAX but sadly have to connect through Chicago or Altanta)....prices are still way better than Toronto. A flight on Air Canada to Orlando for the same dates and times in March/April would have been $1,400 and it is only $700 from Buffalo, including early bird checkin. Wish we could still get those $59 one-way flights we used to get in 2006 & 2007.

Those are kinda the thing of the past unless oil comes down. As for one of the people from tge show, I am taking one of them and her new Husband to WDW for Food and Wine in just 24 days for a week using my DVC points. It is going to be a really fun trip.
