I saw the LE amounts too. I think this is terrible. The pins state only the year, 2012, meaning they could be used on both cruises. Why would they limit them to 1,000? No matter how they do it, there are going to be disappointed people. I wonder if they want all the complaints and talk - gets people interested - "I have to be able to say I got one". This cruise was expensive enough that they could have hired one person just to manage the special products, so if they state there was no way they could "manage" a detailed distribution they are either not being truthful or are just stupid. They could have hired me, or a million other people, who could have managed it.

Don't know how true this is anymore but we were told on the Wonder PC and the Alaska I augural, that stateside and finally the West Coast handles pins and that any complaints needed to be addressed to them. :scratching. What I don't get is they hit on a passable somewhat fair system and then they change it for the next cruise that mostly the same people are going on. It doesn't makes sense to me Disney. I know you read our boards so why to pick up on this conversation? The pins are cute but it makes me  that you always have to stir the pot and don't bother to fix the problem.

This is why we stopped collecting pins a few years ago.....

If they limit the LE 1000 to one a cabin initially then everything should be fine as there is just under 1000 cabins. then they could put the leftovers on sale on a first come first serve basis. They should do the same for the two LE 2500 as well. The question is will they be smart enough to do it? I seriously doubt it. Also, and trust me on this, the Oct cruise will have its own unique set. They may look similar but will be different in some way.

Let me know what you think of the earrings after you wear them. I love them but I was wonding if the backs were to long ? :confused3 These are the only kind of earrings that I have so I may need to get used to them or I was thinking with your handy tools might be easier to snip a little bit off ? :confused3

I have been wearing earrings with fish hook wires like this for years and I find them very comfortable. It would not be a problem to snip off a bit at the end. However, this could potentially leave a sharp edge. So the better solution would be to find ear wires that you are more comfortable with and just swap them out.

Hey guys...had Christian as our cruise director on quite a few of our cruises....felt he was OK but a little long winded and not as personable as others we have had. My DW and I have had long conversations with Brent and ofcourse he is our favorite. What actually happened on the other cruises that people really don' t like him? Hard to believe he would not like Dis people...in my mind they are like the heart of Disney.....l
Thanks all....
Tom & Marilou

Well, I don't think he is the only one. I always have the feeling that some of the crew feels a bit threatened by the DIS. On the WBTA in 2010 I got quite friendly with some of the cruise staff and a number of them admitted that they do not really like that the DIS members are organizing so many different activities and that this often means that they are not supporting stuff that the cruise staff puts on.

I don't know if you did Desperate Shipmates on that cruise, but about a month before the cruise, a new person by the name of Rudy Finkus joined our cruise meet thread. He posted maybe half a dozen times ahead of the cruise. I remember that I nearly fell of my chair when during the first installment of Desperate Shipmates, Rudy Finkus was introduced as one of the characters. He was portrait as a fanatical Disney fan and member of the DIS boards. I remember he even had one of our lanyards. I am sure that there was an element of DCL paying tribute to the DIS, but I am equally sure that there was a big element of poking fun at us, too.

Here is a Micky for you

I love the Mickey.

OK, then, what is the seller on Esty making? :confused3

.

I can't say on here because somebody who should not know about this may just see it. I will send you a PM.

I may have found some of the pins we will be offerred, although one is missing

They are amazing. I am hoping that the remaining pin will feature Stitch. After all, Lilo and Stitch was set on Kauai.

Ok. Here I go again being in the minority. Christian is by far my absolute favorite CD. I like Brent the least because he lied right to my face and I will not tolerate that and boy did DCL hear about it. As for Trent, if it the same guy from down under, I really like him too. I remember one night on the 08 WBPC cruise he stayed out talking with my friends and I till 3:30-4:00 in the morning and was great, and hilarious. As for water. Just so you know the tap from the ship is probably the purest water out there since it just whent through the desalanzation process. I will never buy bottled water on the ship. This is just me.

Well, fortunately people are all different. It is great that people like different things and different people. Otherwise this world would be a very boring place to live.

Val you have seen almost all the pins. There is six port pins all LE 1000. There are two logo pins that are LE 2500. I did not post this info cause the distribution prosses has not been released yet. I like to post all the info at one time.

Thanks for sharing the information. I think they are the same numbers than on the Panama Canal cruise, just that we only had one logo pin. Let's just hope that they organize the distribution better or I won't be getting them this time round as much as I love them.

Corrina- I don't know if you need this infro or not but I am able to do more FE groups. I was in 2,7, and 9 and because some people were in more than one group I was able to do groups 4 and 6. I also did a little something for all the kids no matter what group they were in.

Still waiting for a room for mermailloving

Thanks. I will update my lists shortly.

vista is having another sale - no upload charge and half price for tee-shirts

Corinna posted on Facebook an interesting conversation with DCL. I hope she posts it here. Val

I will shortly. I just have to take care of some chess related business first. By the way, I am not the only person that got a call today.

I have made a few updates on the FE list so people participating in FE please check to make sure you have everyone and the correct cabin #

Thanks. I will update my assorted lists within the next couple of hours and will post here once done.

Corinna if you are talking about last years PC cruise then no the numbers are not the same. The port pins were LE 500 and the one logo was LE 1000. It you are talking about the two from 08 then yes the numbers are the same. Also from what I have seen on pin pics, the last pin features Dasiy.

I always bend in the ends of fish hook earrings so that they do not poke behind my ear, the longer they are, the better they will stay in your ear.

If you cut them off, use a regular nail file to smooth the ends!

We will be doing the same, unpacking, washing, repacking. Guess I might see you in the laundry room on the cruise?!
Lynn - I am trying my best to NOT have to do laundry onboard. We have a 15 day trip for the Fantasy, and I have a 15 day for Hawaii - I will see what I need to wash and try to fix the amounts accordingly.

Stateside tries to fix these things according to Kim (the pin organizer for ALL the pin events) however, DCL "re-fixes" it after she makes changes. Not sure why, and she is completely in the dark as to the why as well. We had a nice long conversation about this stuff last Sept.

usually the colors are different is all. This way they do not have another jig setup to pay for.

No laundry. Laundry is a chore. Chores are not done on vacation. Of course I am not flying for this trip so I do not need to worry about bag weight problems for flying. Maybe Kim should tell her boss she needs to go on the ship so that their is not another famous DCL pin line again. I just can't believe they have not figured this out yet.

I find the talk about the Captain's and CD's extremely interesting. I have never thought that who ever is staffed in that position when I am cruising makes or breaks my vacation. My DD even talks about them. I don't have favorites and quite honestly could never tell you which one was on which cruise. I really must be in the miniority but I find that we have such limited interaction with them that it doesn't matter to me.

There was someone that was interested in laundry prices. The price list is posted elsewhere. I don't think I can post the link since they are deemed a competitor by this site, but if you google "disney cruise laundry cost" it came up as the second item. At the bottom of the page, the price list is pictured. If you read the fine print, it says that pressing is 50% of the dry clean cost. For an evening dress that would be $4.00 for pressing only.

Here is what I posted on Facebook earlier on:

Well, the Mouse is definitely watching. I had a number of missed calls on my cell phone today from a number in Florida. I Googled it and it came up as DCL. The phone just rang again and it was a very nice guy from DCL. Apparently it had come to their attention that I am organizing the jewellery making workshops. So they wanted to find out a bit more about this. I gave him some information. He then advised me that no money can change hands while I am on board. I advised him that this has all already been taken care of. He also asked where I am planning to do this. I explained that this would be done in groups of 6 and that we would just sit around a table at the Outlook Cafe. He had been under the impression that this was lot bigger than this. I assured him that this is really low key and he thought this was a fantastic idea. Still, you do wonder what else they are aware of.

I have since heard that Seaulater had a very similar call as well.

Thanks Lynn, that is helpful. I will try that.

Thanks Corinna, I think I will try just bending the back a little bit. I also just need to get used to this style of earrings.

I am with you in the long run. Here is the issue. the CD is in charge of your enjoyment. If there is a issue, and I will pull from one I have had, say kids in the adult only areas then the CD should be addresed. I did this with Brent and he told me to my face the problem would be solved, but in fact he did just the opposite. Not only did the problem really not improve much, but I personaly saw him stop a crew member from asking a family to leave Diversions after 9 PM when it is reserved for 18 and up. So I sent a scathing complaint letter to DCL with a personal complaint about him. He is a nice guy and all, but after that incident I have almost zero respect for him. Did it ruin ny vacation? No, but it did leave a sour taste in my mouth since he refused to act on DCL policy to ensure that if adults do not want to be around kids they won't be in certain areas of the ship. Now the Captian on the other hand I could care less. All I care about from him/her is that they keep me safe. If they do that then I am fine with the job they are doing.

That would have been me! I am usually a proficient googler, but I kept getting things that were from 2008, and Im sure prices have changed!

I need to have two dresses dry cleaned and one pressed, so that's very helpful. Costs are the same here, so it makes more sense to have it done onboard!

This doesn't make or break my vacation. I make my vacation for what it is. I do think though some CM'S do make it more or less pleasant. ;) Some of my experience.........If I need to ask a question I don't want to feel like I am bothering you. This happened with Christian. He made me feel very un-comfortable.

When I think of the thousands of people who cruise DCL and I have only done a few here and there that when I cruise DCL there was a CM who remembered me because he wanted to. He made me laugh, told great stories and was very pleasant to be around. :)

I took a mother daughter cruise and would stop by guest services everyday. From day one Brent the CM would ask if we needed anything, asked us about our day because he was interested and always had a smiling face. He even sent an arcade card to our cabin for my DD. ( He didn't have to and no we don't expect special treatment. ) It's those types of people that make that cruise just a little bit special.

Oh and don't get me started on officer Bob..........I will cry. That guy is awesome !!!
