Hello everyone! Just wanted to let everyone know that I am currently on our 2 week ride to Hawaii and she is just as beautiful as ever! Of course I have the kids with me and I can't help but think what a different type of vacation it will be for me having 2 weeks without the kids! How can you not have fun on DCL, kids or no kids??

For those of you wanting to use the internet, I am surprised how good the connection has been so far. We are so lucky to be traveling in the Roy Suite this trip and having free internet has been nice! If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. Ds9 has reports to work on this week so while he does that, I can sit out on the balcony and report back to all of you!

This is just a testing the waters at this point to see how much interest there is and I cannot promise that I can make this work. If the interest is there, I will try to make this happen.

Some people suggested that we could have a mascot meet on the cruise. How many people would be interested in this? As the sea days going to Hawaii now look pretty busy, we could have this on the way back.

Corinna

That's a good idea. When we were on the 2008 WBPC cruise one morning we had a PJ breakfast in Lumieres with optional mascots followed by photos outside in the atrium one of which was just the mascots and their owners.

Wow, looking at the weather forcast in LA for the next 10 days! All I can think is that I hope it WARMS up by the time we get there!

The average is usually in the mid-70's which I think is great traveling weather and for those from the northwest that is definitely shorts weather! But the west coast is really experiencing a lot of flack from La Nina this Spring and it is messed up all along the coast so who knows. Those of you from Florida will probably be chilly. My family from there comes here in August when we are in the 80's and 90's with lows in the 65-75 range and the freeze to death. Difference in humidity seems to make it colder to them...we are burning up:lmao:

YUP, you are. LOTS of nights for Palo, don't worry about it!

On both the PC and the TA we got a sheet the first day with all the nights listed including the theme, dress and show.

Another sheet with the movie schedule.

Some of the "menus" from regular theme dinners I don't care for - but was surprised to find I enjoyed them all - were they changed? Couldn't say.

Imo, you cannot predict the order of play based on past experience. This is the first time with this itinerary. Even though the PC and the TA were both 14-15 days, they were vastly different.

Thanks for the insight, Linda. Since this is just our second cruise did not realize there would be a sheet with all the themes, etc., for 15 days ... get excited everytime I say or write 15 Days.

Ron

I wonder if they still have some, will try to head out mid-week.
Are you doing the Luau with the DCL or on your own. What happen to the group for the Luau in the spreadsheet, I was also on that one, is that still taking place?????? :confused3

Hi Cindy (and anyone else still interested!)

The Alternate Luau in Maui is still available in terms of discounted tickets to the dinner/show. However, I have no more room on the motorcoaches as I had to reserve those by April 5th.

If you are already renting a car or would like to just arrange your own transportation and join us, you may by sending me a PM here on the DISBoards.

It is the Drums of the Pacific show at the Hyatt Maui. Adults are $85; kids 6-12 are $50 and kids 5 and under are $30.

There are 72 of us DISers participating - wahoo!!

We have a single confirmation # on tickets that I will deliver to all the participants' staterooms along with directions and details during our trip over to the islands.

Can't wait to see you all in LESS THAN 3 WEEKS!!! :cool1:

Stephanie

I would love to do the DL meet, but I think I will be over waiting for WOC at those times.

Hello Folks:

So with the info that guests cannot exchange $$ with guests on DCL cruises, I am a bit of a loss as to how to effectively arrange/manage the poker tourney.

My thought at this point is that we should probably just play this by ear once we get onboard and if we want to proceed, to perhaps handle the $$ in port and play on our way back. I just don't want to do anything that would break the DCL rules or jeopardize all the other cool things we are planning.

I'm not too interested in doing the PayPal thing to collect money in advance as I got my hand slapped by PayPal about receiving so much $$ as "gifts" to avoid the fees for the alternate luau.

I can still bring a set of chips and cards since we are driving to the port and would love to solicit a couple of other folks to do the same if they can just in case we can work this out once onboard.

Thanks
Stephanie

Thanks for the tip about the Aloha postcard stamps! They are great!!:goodvibes

Picked ours up today!! :goodvibes

Sweet!! Enjoy your time with your family and we will appreciate the reports.

We have a really hard time with 7 day cruises now after doing 3 (now FOUR) longer cruises. :sad2: The Alaska we did last year was just get on, get off the ship it seemed. We did not even consider a cruise on the Dream because...well, because the Dream cruises are just to short!!! :snooty::cool2: :lmao:We will eventually check out the Fantasy. :)

Socababy, I for one, would LOVE a live trip report! Who are your servers? How did you luck into the Roy? Reserved or upgraded? Were the kids surprised? How did that go?

Couldn't they just play for chips and forget the real money:confused3

My two are IN.

I know the dates for formal and semiformal nights have been posted on this thread somewhere before but it would be nice to know ahead of booking Palo reservations what events are not to be missed in the main dining rooms.

With what little is known, would love to here from those who have done the TA & PC cruises about how they have planned in the past.

Ron

Remember, you have other choices for dinner that do not involve reservations. Most nights you can just trek upstairs to the "buffet" and have a sit down meal - no reservations and no jacket - required. Plus there is pizza and Plutos on deck 9 AND room service.

Wow, looking at the weather forcast in LA for the next 10 days! All I can think is that I hope it WARMS up by the time we get there!

Even if it does warm up, a jacket is suggested for after dark - it gets pretty darn cold in southern California at night. (SO cold that frugal me parted with the ducats to buy an expensive Disney coat!)

DIsneyland Pre-Cruise Meet

OK I'll take the bull by the horns here

Currently planned for for 7:30 - 8:30 pm Saturday April 28 by the fireplace in the Grand Californian Lobby -

To attend: please pm your cell phone number nlt Saturday 4/28 at 6 am with DL Meet in the subject line and I will then give you mine - I don't want to just post it on the public forum. If the timing doesn't work for those who sign up, we will come to a new agreement.

If you plan to show up without pm-ing first - we may not be there.
:cutie:

We are doing the Fantasmic Dessert that night at 8:00 PM. We would love to meet up. I am going to PM you my cell number anyway and that way if you change the place and are still meeting when we get back from the Dessert, we can meet up with you.

Dale

It's interesting you would mention the bread, we were talking about that with our tablemates on the Fantasy cruise! Alex

How funny! It's certainly one of our favorite memories from all of our cruises! We would have starved if it wasn't for you! :rotfl2: To think you rescued us from a couple of tables away. :thumbsup2

Linda the meet sounds good to us.

Val= John is up for a Hawaiian shirt contest and some type of tasting. Is there a beer tasting available? I know they have the wine

Corrina- the pj breakfast with the mascots sounds great

LindaBabe thank you for taking this on. We would love to join the meet.

socababy How wonderful to be in the Roy Suite. If it's not too much of an imposition on your vacation, we would appreciate your assistance. We're in a 00T-Cat 3 on the Hawaii cruise and have a few Suite related questions:
Is internet only free for the Cat 1 suites or for all the suites?
Can we still order room service from Palo and/or the other dinning rooms?
Does the suite fridge still get stocked daily with soda and water?
What are the prices for laundry and dry cleaning?
Thank you so much and enjoy your cruise.

Well....just found out today that I can have the day off on April 28th...we had a 4:40 PM NY time getting us into LAX at 8:10....we can fly standby on JetBlue for the 9:50 AM flight that would get us into LAX at 1:00 in the afternoon and possibly a quick trip over to Disneyland......would add a significant amount of money to this vacation but maybe we will do it....
Maybe check and see if a studio is available at the Grand Californian.
Well see....
Tom:cool1: & Marilou:cheer2:

By the way...hope we can play some poker!

Glad to see you did come over. I have enjoyed looking at your work on the magnet forum...was amazed that neither you nor Milliepie have posted anything for this cruise. Also being from Seattle I lover your Seattle Mariners Mickey heads! Catherine and I were season ticket holders for almost 20 years. Catherine is my daughter and traveling with me so hopefully we will see you at a Dis function.

Oh, DO IT! It'll be worth it for the peace of mind of being on the ground in California by mid afternoon. Can't get Grand Californian? Maybe Candy Cane Inn will have some rooms - it's only a short walk or shuttle away.
