April 29, 2012 ~ Aloha! ~ Inagural Wonder to Hawaii-Part 3

Bob and I are off on our MR cruise and DLR vacation. Last Friday we got the ok and bottle of antibiotics from his doctor. He had a capsule endoscope, swallowing a camera, and they found abrasions on the walls of his stomach and multiple ulcers on his small intestines. Now they have to figure out what is causing them, most likely culprit is one of his many medications. He still has a stint in his common bile duct which has to be removed next month.

There is not much new to report on the shirt project. We have had a few cancellations but perhaps some of our new cruisers will be interested. Becky sent info to the October Hawaii cruise group, at their request, but I haven't seen anything posted about it. Once we get back I'll update everyone on that.

Also, will really concentrate on the group vow renewal - as long as there is still interest. Happy Goofy and I have been exchanging some ideas. I have been in contact with DCL special requests and I think we can do something really nice for about $40 a couple, a small tea like reception and special Hawaiian theme ceremony. It certainly won't be the same as a Disney Fairytale Wedding, complete with ship captain but it also won't be $1,500 a couple. I think it could be really nice.

Don't have to much for me to wade through when we get back.

Val, I hope they have found the source of Bob's problems and can now address them properly. (I recently had several -oscopies done and they found over 50 polyps in my stomach, probably caused by my meds, too.)

We are TOTALLY in for a group renewal. :thumbsup2 It would be lovely, I think. (And $40 is so much more manageable than $1500!!!)

Fingers crossed for you! (ps. retirement is terrific)

Oh I have zero plans for retirement anytime soon. I say this now and it may change, but even when I can retire I don't plan it. I acctuly enjoy working. I know strange but true.

Hope you have a great trip. Am glad they are making progress on Bob's health issues.
My daughter had major surgery Monday to remove a muscle in neck/chest area. Dr said it would be at least a 6 month recovery time -which is FIVE days before we sail deadline. I hope she will be in great shape to enjoy cruise......fingers crossed

Hi All! Just checking in...still lurking, as usual.:rolleyes1:

We're excited about the cruise - really looking forward to this April/May break.

We were able to book a 4 night on the Dream for 13 November - we're doing it differently this time by driving down and parking at the port - then spending a couple of days with Mike's parents in West Palm Beach afterwards then driving home. Should make for a nice break - it's the last one we'll get before this Hawaii cruise...plus it's our first Dream cruise and our first Platinum cruise too.:cool1:

Hope those of you under the weather get to feeling better - sending good vibes :goodvibes

Love reading everyone's updates...check back in again later on. :)

While I loved my job, I have to say that I REALLY, REALLY love not having to actually show up everyday. :thumbsup2:)

My DW, dennisgirl, suggested that I introduce myself to all. This will be our 6th cruise, and really looking forward to it. Really enjoy to longer cruises. We might be bringing our adult son, will need to check to see the added cost, DW says it would be the same as if he was attending classes at the community college.:scared1: Looking forward to see our friends from curises past.

I agree with you! I have so many hobbies that now I can't figure out how I ever had time to go to work! And it was really nice after Hurricane Irene that I could stay in bed and not worry about getting to work because of flooded roads.

I get off the Dream on the 13th (after a B2B), I'll try and leave it ship-shape for you.

HELLO SAILOR! pirate:

So do you think THIS time we'll be back on DCL together? Sure hope so, had so much fun playing with you kids on the EBTA. Pam was sad when I told her you had to cancel the Dream next month (heck, next week practically). This cruise will afford a lot of time for relaxing in Diversions!

For $40-$50, we're in! Celebrating 35 years (Off and on for 43)

Don't have to much for me to wade through when we get back.

You're kidding, of course!

Hi Dennis!!

Didn't realize it was you who sent me a yahoo message so I cancelled it. Spoke to your DW this morning. Email or message me again :goodvibes

Valbob, enjoy your vacation!!! REST REST REST. Hope all works out well for you. We would be totally into a group vow renewal. How awesome would that be? Once in a life time kind of thing. On the Wonder, cruising around Hawaii with a bunch of fellow Disney cruise nuts having vows renewed...priceless.

Boosgram, hope you are feeling better.

Happygoofy, hope you are feeling better to.

Hi everyone!

I'm very sad about this, but we had to cancel this cruise  One of my closest friends was just surprised by her son...he's engaged and the wedding is being planned for May 12th!! :cool1: I couldn't very well ask them to move the date just because I was cruising (I actually tried but my conscience got the best of me :lmao:), so I had to rebook us to the October date.

I will so miss everyone I was looking forward to meeting in April, but hopefully will bump into someone familiar on a DCL cruise in the future.

I guess I need to be removed from the lanyard list, the champagne girls, and the roll call. I'll still be lurking :surfweb: to keep up with you all and to see how the inaugural Hawaii adventurers fared! I want to see LOTS of trip reports with pix! :3dglasses

I've PM'd Val to cancel the shirt order...gosh, I'm going to miss having those a lot too! I'm still planning the two days at DL on the 14th and 15th, so if anyone else is staying at VGC, maybe we will still get a chance to meet up?

Take care all and happy sailing!
Mary and family

I am sorry that I won't get to meet you, but I am glad that you get to go in October.

Well our vacation bid at work is now open. Only one person per week is allowed to have a vacation for the weeks of this cruise. I am half way up the senority chain so we will see.

I keep my fingers crossed for you.

Welcome on board.

:cheer2:pixiedust: We were able to finally get a category 6A cabin instead of the 4E we originally had.... The 4E was all that was available when we originally booked and we did not want to miss this cruise. We are still on wait list for a wheelchair accessible, but those are a 6A usually. Anyway we now owe $3000 LESS for our cruise...come on excursions!!!
At least this was cheerful news for my daughter as she struggles recovering from surgery...good news always helps:cheer2:pixiedust:

Fortunately, the first several days of the cruise pretty much involve only what you want, so she can continue to recover onboard.

While I loved my job, I have to say that I REALLY, REALLY love not having to actually show up everyday. :thumbsup2:)

You got that right! And I don't miss the 1 1/2 hour commute (each way) at all! (This would be a perfect place for a raspberry smilie :rotfl:.)

Boosgram, hope you are feeling better.

Lissa

Thanks so much. At this point, all I need is a 15-night vacation! C'mon, April!

$3000 to play with is cool!! I hope she feels better soon. :flower3:

Hi everyone,
We've been booked for a while now, but were worried we wouldn't be able to hang onto this cruise. We finally decided that we couldn't pass up on hawaii on DCL. It's been our dream to sail there, how can we pass up on that! Anyway, has there been any info discovered about our cruise that I missed?

Welcome. Nothing official from DCL but looks like pirate night is the night we are at Hilo.
