April 29, 2012 ~ Aloha! ~ Inagural Wonder to Hawaii-Part 3

Two days ago I booked our transportation from LAX to DoubleTree and from Port to hotel where we are staying after our cruise (at LAX). I called Super Shuttle and they got me pretty good price with their ExecuCar. They will pick us up with mini-van, it's not a shared ride. Price I got for a ride from LAX to DoubleTree for family of 4 is $55 and from Port to hotel at LAX $61.

I ended up booking with Super Shuttle from SNA to the Doubletree for $59 for the two of us. It didn't look like Prime Time went to the Doubletree in San Pedro. Then I booked from the Port to SNA with Prime time for $55. The killer is the rental car price for our week at DL -- almost $350! We have a rental car in Orlando for our upcoming two week trip for less than $300. That makes it well over twice as much at DL -- yuck. I guess I will try again closer to April and hope prices come down.

We have run into hotel cost quotes in Reno way above what even Disney hotels want...really hoping in a few months prices go down... Maybe we both will get lucky later.

The secret Mickey document does not work for me.

Somehow the links got broken when I reposted this. I have now fixed the links so you should be OK to sign up now.

Our GTY has been changed to room 7126. We have just (re) signed up for the FE with our room number, but we need to change our Secret Mickey and Roll Call information. Should we redo our Secret Mickey or can someone make the change for us?

JohnGar (John) and LauraGar (Laura) are now in 7126.

Please make a note of it.

I have amended the Secret Mickey info accordingly.

Can you please explain to me how your PIF date is Feb. 14? And how were you able to complete your online check-in WITHOUT being PIF? I didn't that was possible.

My travel agent booked this for me within the first hour of the cruise opening for booking and DCL advised the wrong PIF date. Initially they changed this to what the correct date should have been, but I think they got a lot of complaints and in the end decided to honour the original date for those that had originally been advised the incorrect date. I even got a letter from DCL last week confirming the February 14th date.

I was kind of surprised that it let me do the online check in. I suppose it only recognized that I am a gold Castaway Club Member and that yesterday was the earliest date that I could check in online and did not realise that I am not PIF. Everything on the activities page is all greyed out so that is behaving how it should be.

We also booked Palo dinner for May 9. Thought about booking it for the last night of the cruise, as our anniversary is the next day, but thought we probably would want to spent the dinner with table-mates and servers to say our good-byes.

Ours is the 14th too! Not very nice of DCL to kick us off on our anniversary, LOL! I've booked our Palo dinner on the 10th (my birthday) but hoping to pick up a 2nd reservation to celebrate our anniversary. Not sure when to do that as I feel like you do about spending the last dinner in the MDR with our table-mates and servers.

We are a 10B, and still a GTY.. Maybe they are holding us back for an upgrade! :cool1::worship:

We are also 9C and still gty. I just hope we get a good cabin.

You are 100% right, Angie (but I still hope we're not across from the laundry room ;) ).

We were across and 1 door down from the laundry room on the PC and I actually liked it. I do laundry on the longer cruises and I could just step out the door and see if a washer was available. :thumbsup2 I did not find it noisy, crowds in the hall or hot/humid as some have described. :confused3

Hi Deb,

On our cruise last May, Disney seated us at a table with another couple who were also celebrating their anniversary, also on May 14th, don't know if it was a coincidence or planning on Disney's part.

My birthday is also the 14th -- yes, we got married on my birthday -- it was sentimental to us as it was also the day we met in person the first time, at the Port Canaveral cruise terminal as we were boarding for the first Panama Canal cruise on May 14, 2005.

On my last Disney cruise, 3 out of our 4 couples at the table were celebrating their anniversary during the week (August). Kinda cute if you ask me!

My B-day is May 15th, I'm going to be celebrating it early on the cruise!

Our birthdays and anniversary are not near May, but my first Social Security check will be deposited into our checking account on May 9 :worship:so I will be celebrating that day!!! :dance3::woohoo:

We are not aboard for our birthdays, but celebrating anyway. This cruise is our birthday presents to each other so my daughter will celebrate 42nd two weeks late and I will celebrate my coming 65th (July 3rd) two months early :cool1: Disney just needed to make the cruise last longer....Saves a lot of present shopping for both of us :)
