I'm fast becoming your home-town news source. :cool2:

PORT CANAVERAL -- - Canaveral Port Authority commissioners on Wednesday said they are optimistic about the coming year at the port, on the day an industry trade group predicted that cruise passenger traffic will increase to a record 12.8 million in 2008.

Cruise Lines International Association said its 24 member cruise lines project carrying 10.5 million passengers originating from North America and 2.3 million from international markets in 2008.

The 12.8 million total compares with an estimated 12.6 million worldwide passengers in 2007 and 12.01 million in 2006. The estimated 1.6 percent growth in passenger counts in 2008, however, would be less than the 4.9 percent in 2007.

Port Canaveral is the second-busiest cruise port, behind Miami, for passenger counts.

Canaveral Port Authority Commissioner Chairman Joe Matheny said local port officials have been negotiating with cruise lines that use Port Canaveral, hoping to finalize deals this year that eventually will bring the new, larger cruise ships to Brevard County's seaport.

Matheny said the captain of the Disney Wonder, which sails on three- and four-day cruises from Canaveral, recently told him the Wonder has been sailing at close to its full passenger capacity.

"Our ships are going out very full," Port Canaveral Commissioner Ralph Kennedy said.

Kennedy said port officials have been taking the steps necessary to attract larger cruise ships, such as preparing to enlarge the port's western turning basin.

The Cruise Lines International Association said in a statement that its projections are based on early reports from travel agents of strong bookings for cruises during this year's "wave season" -- January through March. That's traditionally the busiest booking period of the year for cruises.

St. John Truck Bay Beach & Snorkel Tour

We aren't planning anything for St. Martin and on CC we'll maybe do the floats or bikes but really don't need to reserve those ahead of time.

Got all three things we wanted booked! Off to bed I go!

So did everyone get what they wanted?

We're doing 11:30 on the 27th. We've done brunch a number of times. How much time you spend is really up to you, but yes you can be there for 2 hours. You start with a glass of champagne. Then your server will take you on a tour of the buffet area and will explain what entrees you can order. They have some that are more breakfast oriented (pancakes, omlets, etc.) and some more lunch oriented (filet, fish, etc.). You then go and load up your plate at the buffet. Everything from sticky buns, stollen bread, shrimp, crab lets, etc. etc. etc. Then your server will take your entree order. When done with that you head over to the dessert part of the buffet.

So as you see you can easily spent 2 hours to just sit back and enjoy it. BTW can't remember if you have kids or not but if they are in the clubs that morning let the club know you will be at Palo. They'll make an extra effort not to page you. For example if your child is just bored they will try and entertain them more. Of course if they really need you they will page you but they want you to enjoy the experience.

thanks for the palo info. while i had no idea how it worked, and thank you for telling me, i have seen pictures of the buffet. i am in shock that after the buffet there is a entree order. no wonder they book you in for 2 hours. and you say it starts with champagne? i think that for me after the sea food part of it i'll be full but i'll do my best to try everything. i can not let the restaurant down now can i.
thanks mary, now i know what to expect and what i have been missing. can't wait.:flower3:
