I much prefer brunch to dinner at Palo. They are both good, but we like brunch better. For one thing we aren't big pool people or laying out in the sun. So going to Palo for brunch is a nice break in the day. Plus brunch is a little less formal and you tend not to get fussed over as much.

Woo Hoo - a UTOP!

I'm all for Palo Brunch together! With 3 sea days we'll have time for brunch, LRC, and lots of relaxing.

Anyone else play Left, Right, Center? Karen taught it to me on the 10 day and we had a great game of it on the May '06 cruise by the Mickey Pool.

Wow - I saw Kiki's post and thought I was on the wrong thread! :lmao:

Sorry... I just had to reinforce what an impact kitty litter had on our whole gang... not just Mike!!!!!!

Same here. I had to do a double take. Scrolled back up to check which thread this was!! :)

We wish you could join us too, kikiKaren. :) My kids are already asking if they can do the magic tricks. ;) They're going to be 45 some day going table to table doing magic tricks. ;) :lmao:

Yes. That kitty litter caused him such pain for days. (emotional pain!!!)

There are just some things we'll never ever live down. :)

Good morning all!! No work for me today...whoohooo!! I have to get caught up on housework while noone is home! I hate cleaning when the kids and DH are home, I can never get anything done!

we aren't big pool people on vacation either. We have a pool here at home, so it's not as exciting as it is to other people probably! If I wanna lay out by the pool or swim, I can do it at home!

We'd like to do Palo too, however, I think we're only going to do brunch. I am a bit worried though since we are first time cruisers, and can only book 75 days out. I worry that we won't get a ressie! :sad2: I know I can try to get one after we board, but the thought of standing in line for the first hour or so until the ressie desk opens is not very appealing!

Good morning,

On my last cruise I didn't know that I could book 105 days out. I found out on the 77th day and then it took me a day to realize that I couldn't use Firefox and I had to use IE. Anyway on the 76th day there were still brunches available.

I think it probably all depends on how many disboard members or Castaway Club members are going on the cruise to get online ressies.

Nope. Don't need to do that. I've never stood in line for that long to get Palo ressies (brunch or dinner)

You just need to make sure you are at the port EARLY. They now give out numbers and group one boards first (concierge and handicapped) Group 2 boards second (as a big group) etc etc. You'll want to be in one of the early groups. Then you make a BEE-LINE for Rockin Bar D (or is it Wave Bands? can't keep my ships straight) and you go DIRECTLY there. Do not stop to buy a beer mug, do not stop to look at ice sculptures. Go directly there. The lines shouldn't be long if you got to the port early, got an early number, and go directly there.

That being said....don't know who is planning what transportation to get to the port, but.....DCL transport on their busses is slow. And annoying. I like to have more control over WHEN I get somewhere. Seemed like the one time we took it we stood in line forever. Finally got on a bus and then sat in the bus for what seemed like forever. Then drove to get there and it seemed like we were the slowest vehicle on the road.

We will either drive ourselves there or have a car take us there. That way we have more control of the time. Besides, there will be a big group of DISers congregated in the terminal and the party will start for us before boarding!!! :lmao: What? You didn't see the BIG group of people all in grey shirts with the big DIS BOARD MEET sign??? (sorry, inside joke, eh, Mary!?)

Karen is right about Palo - with 3 sea days you should be able to get what you want even at the 75 day mark and if not then just get to the port early.

We'll pack the DIS meet sign! It has been on about 5 cruises now (not all with us). As for shirts - well that is us to the group.

Karen how was staying at the Hyatt the night before? We are thinking of doing that. We could share a ride over if you want.

I kinda feel like the 5th wheel here being about the only guy. but sitting by the pool catching a few rays with a corona and watching all the pirate wenchespirate: sounds good to me. we could try for a Dis meet brunch. I think you can book the brunch and excursions when you are paid in full about 90 days out. getting your house cleaned Kay or dis boarding:rolleyes1

 you sound like a Monopoly game? Will I collect $200 when I get there? :rotfl: I thought Rockin Bar D doesn't open till later? I have heard of people standing in line waiting for it to open  We plan on getting there early. We'll be spending the night in Port Canaveral, and renting a car!

yeah, yeah, I know DISing is more important! But I had to get the house cleaned a bit. The kids are home tomorrow and then the whole weekend, not to mention Alan will be here Sat. and Sun. and I know I will get nothing done then! :laundy:

You can only book 90 days out when you are a Castaway Club member. Since we have never cruised, we can't book until 75 days out. Not too worried about excursions, but I *really* want to do brunch at Palo!

That answers why we can book 90 days out. guess we will watch the thermostat drop this evening . We want to do the Palo brunch too on our for sure list.

We liked it. No problems. A bit more $ than staying near the port if I remember correctly. Can't exactly remember why we did it last time b/c we didn't get in that late....but it worked out great.

We got a limo to the port last time and it was WONDERFUL....although they drive fast so $ per minute is higher! :lmao: I kept wanting him to slow down so I could enjoy the experience and at the same time I kept wanting him to speed up so we could get there faster. :)

We could share the ride over if you want....but it'd HAVE to be a limo for the room. :) That would be a blast! :)

Or you can do like some fellow cruisers threatened to do (I won't mention names, but it was Mr. Scuba) ....they threatened to pitch a tent at the terminal and spend the night there!!! :) They liked being FIRST in line for their cruises.....

but alas....now there isn't a "line." :lmao:

now there's a thought!! I take tons and tons of pictures, and I would LOVE some pictures of an empty (or almost) terminal! I hate it when I have strangers in my pictures!!!! So, you think I'd get arrested if I pitched my tent? I don't wanna take a chance and miss the ship because I'm in jail! :scared1: That would NOT be a good thing!
