Honestly I agree with you guys - Karen is a lot of fun. Must be why this will be my 4th cruise with her and her family!

Geez - I go to bed and then wake up and get the 1st dd off to school and then I need 30 minutes to catch up here.

Karen - my dad is the exact same way. I had to tell the girls he's not being mean, he's being sarcastic. He's 76 and not in the best health. One year he had pneumonia and wasn't expected to live. He was in a coma (medically induced) for about 30 days. When I'd go and visit him, I'd yell at him - "Dad it is costing me an arm and a leg to drive to the Valley everyday - I have to pay a babysitter and pay for parking - GET BETTER". The nurses would look at me like I'm abusing him. However, we are so close that they didn't understand our sense of humor.

I love shows like Top Chef, Law and Order and Judge Judy.

Now I hate suspense, so before I watch a Top Chef episode, I go online and figure out (from the East Coast posters) what happened on the episode I'm about to watch.

I was at my middle dd's soccer game the other day and my oldest asked if I wish I could look up the results of the game on the internet so I could actually enjoy the game.

Heard an interesting fact about Judge Judy the other day. Did you know she makes more money a year than ALL of our US Supreme Court Justices COMBINED???? Wow.

My dad does stuff like this....he'll give a check to Mike (for something he owes him for) and he'll say "here's the check to keep Karen. If you don't keep her and she comes back home, I'll stop paying you." He told my MIL (about 14 years ago) "well, Mike married up." (btw, to THIS day she finds that offensive and holds it against my dad. uh..get over it, he was JOKING!) He's just a hoot. Of course, after 50 yrs of marriage, my mom is getting tired of the constant joking. When we laugh at my dad she grumbles and says "stop encouraging him!"

Hi,

I am so glad that we are not able to go on one of the Repo cruises. I would be caught up in all the excitement of waiting for IC to call.

Luckily school starts mid-August here. I've thought about going with my mom, but the house couldn't run for 2 weeks without me around here (truthfully I couldn't leave the kids that long - I can barely leave them for a night).

One day I do want to cruise through the Panama Canal.

I do that with all the reality TV shows I watch! I can't stand the suspense!! And sometimes I don't even watch the season finale if the person I can't stand wins! I also read spoilers for the entire season on message boards. Sometimes I know who is in the final 2 of Survivor or wins Amazing Race pretty early on

did you see how many posts the repo cruise meet threads have already? And people haven't even BOOKED that cruise yet!! Would love to do the east bound repo but since I work in a school office, right before the school year starts is the busiest time of the year and there is just NO WAY I can take it off! The office is always back a week or two before school starts! Besides, we always start before Labor Day, so I bet school starts around the 27th or 28th of August in 2008 and I don't like to take the kids out the first few days of a new school year even IF I could take it off!

Would love to do a panama canal cruise one day though...

Hi,

Here's a question for a computer techie out there.

Everytime I check my email I have so many emails from Disboards notifying me of new posts to this thread. If I don't check my email all day, I'll have 30 notifications to delete. Today I followed the link to be removed from this thread notification.


My question is -when I continue to post does that automatically rescribe me? I'll continue to post, but if I go away for the weekend it is going to take me a hour to delete all the notifications.

Jen, You can subscribe to a thread but without e-mail notification. That's what I do. That way you can get to it from your user CP but your e-mail box won't be full with e-mails.

Edited to add - go back and subscribe and then you'll be taken to a page with a pull down box. Your options are instand notification by e-mail, daily notification, weekly notification or no e-mail notification. Just pick the no e-mail notification and you will still be subscribed but won't fill your e-mail up.

As for the repo cruise, while I would love to do it Mark just can't afford 2 weeks straight off of work. A number of the ladies from our past cruises are doing a "mom's only" trip out of the repo but I can't see being away from Mark for two weeks doing something (like cruising) that he loves to do as well. So you are stuck with us on this one.

I can guarantee that many who are talking about it won't book once they see the prices and that a good number will also cancel before the actual trip. They are just getting caught up in the hype. Karen remember the early days of the 10 day Christmas thread. We lost a lot of people from that early on.
