Announcement from Passporter -

The Disney Cruise Line has joined several other major lines by announcing updated smoking regulations for its ships. Starting Saturday, April 19 on the Wonder, and Sunday, April 20 on the Magic, the new policy extends the no-smoking policy to every indoor area, including the clubs in the adult entertainment districts on Deck 3 forward (Diversions, Cadillac Lounge, Beat Street, etc.). Smoking is still allowed on guests' private verandahs. The outdoor smoking areas have been moved from port to starboard. Those are the deck 4 promenade, and outdoor areas on decks 9 and 10. The comfy smoking area immediately outside the entrance to the Cove Cafe on Deck 9 forward has been moved to the opposite side of the deck, as it was on the port side. As always, smoking is not allowed anywhere near the Mickey Pool.

Kay, thanx for providing us the updated information. Nobody in our family smokes - well, actually that's not 100% true. DW will join her girlfriends for a smoke or 2 on girl's nite out. Other than that, cigs aren't allowed and we don't allow smoking in the house.

We are down to 4 days before we leave for WDW.
Getting ready for the two foot shuffle....:dancer:

Our van is back and its packed, I love it when everything is so organized when you first pack it. I've cleaned most of the house...all thats left is to vacuum.
This has been the SLOWEST day ever.

Laura and Chris, drive carefully and we will all be right behind you. If I remember you leaving in the morning. Might run into you at WDW. Have fun and see you at the meet.

Lee and Deb

We're on deck 6 too :thumbsup2 !

Just taking a break from packing...my in-laws are driving down to Florida (leaving Saturday) so we are sending our luggage with them, we have a really tight connection in Montreal so if we don't have to wait for our baggage, the quicker we get through customs! I know I am packing way too much..as always but can't decide what to get rid of :confused3 .

Well I best get back too it!

Please allow me to give friendly advice to all those visiting WDW prior to the cruise. I really just want to maximize everyone's vacation.

EPCOT stands for Every Parent Comes Out Tired.

This really applies to all the parks.

Take your time, keep up your energy, and listen to your kids. They will tell you when they are tired (and it usually isn't polite  ). I've literally had to carry my kids to the car. :scared: Remember that there is nothing wrong with just picking a shady spot and hanging out for a while; or choose an indoor show that will allow you to sit in the A/C for a while.

I've seen the look of exhaustion on people's faces after a day at the parks. That look is burned into my memory. I've also seen the stress - especially after waiting in line in the hot sun for hours. Remember my recent post about the lady who is facing many years in jail for starting a fight with someone who she thought was breaking in line.

The best time to go to the parks, if you can manage, is when the park opens. If possible, get there as close to opening as possible. It is cool outside in the morning and the lines are short. Then, by the time it starts getting busy it is time for lunch. That's a good time to relax in the A/C. After lunch you won't mind standing in line because your stomach will be full. Anyhow, that game plan works well for us. If you can't get to the parks early, just set your expectations accordingly - that is, you won't be jumping on anything quick.

I hope this doesn't come across as preachy. But, we've had annual passes to Disney, Sea World, Busch Gardens, and now Universal Studios. I feel obligated to pass along my experience.

First....Thanks to ZEROG for correcting my age! I don't want to be 40 before I have to! :thumbsup2
Second..... BON VOYAGE for all who are on their way to FLORIDA!!! See you in a week!! Be safe and have FUN!!! :cool1:  :yay:
and last but not least.... OH MY GOD WE'RE LEAVING IN 1 WEEK!!:rotfl::yay::woohoo:

Hey Tinkertoo..... a little piece of advice.... there's not that much room for luggage! Supposedly, there's room under the bed, but ours didn't fit. I guess we had some monster suitcases! :confused3 We had suitcases everywhere! 2 in the closet, and 2 at the end of the bed!
We have 3 full days at sea, which don't require much clothes. Hopefully we'll have nice weather, and you'll be in bathing suits for the "at sea" days. You'll only need evening wear!

Sounds like us! We are also on deck 6 (cabin 6052), and are driving down (actually more "across") to Florida. AND, as in-laws, we are taking our son's family's (cdriecke) luggage in our minivan, too. Be prepared for a crazy bunch of "Louisiana Cajuns"!! Aaaayyyy-eeeeeee!!

:drive:

Hi Neighbor,

What is your cabin #? We are in 6054......

Good morning everyone. Time for a Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Tip Of The Day

Making a list of who to send a postcard to from Castaway Cay? Don't forget yourself!

A postcard from Castaway Cay is a great addition to your scrapbook and will bring back the memory of the cruise after you get home. Have each member of your party sign their name - the kids will love it!

You'll find a few free postcards in your desk drawer in your room and a wider selection up in the gift shop.

You'll need cash to mail them (one of the few things on the cruise you'll need actual cash for) so don't forget to take some with you on the island.

The post office is right where you get off the ship and there are often characters there posing for photos as well.

One thing to remember - patience. The postcards come on island time - which means it could be a month or more before you get them! But it is worth the wait!

Safe travels to everyone who is starting their journey already. We still have a week to go until we fly out and meet up with Karen and family.

This weekend will be packing!

Earthquake rattles Illinois

A magnitude 5.4 earthquake, centered 127 miles east of St. Louis, Missouri, shook southern Illinois at 4:36 a.m. (5:36 a.m. ET) Friday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. People as far north as southern Michigan and as far west as Des Moines, Iowa, reported feeling the quake.

Any crazy cruisers feel this?

Hello from the Warren Family! We are narrowing down on the packing and really appreciate all the great ideas from the board. We are looking forward to meeting everyone at the DIS meet. My DH saw the posting some one did on the parade in St. Maarten (which I took as a good reason to stay on board by the pool). DH decided that this would be a very exciting event to attend. He did some research and even found some kind of local "fair food" event. If anyone is interested in going, I am sure he can tell you all about it at the DIS meet.

Safe travels to everyone heading out!
