canadian here as well:thumbsup2 . i picked up ginger tablets at our local costco. i believe they have them at most pharmacies. i could not find bonnin here in canada and did not want to take the chance of having nothing. i had also seen some threads that said it made you drowsie and i don't want that either.
i watched an eposode of myth busters a few months back on sea sickness remedies and ginger tablets was the one voted to work best without you getting drowsy. you may want to try this.

We're another Canadian family!!:thumbsup2 We bought some GRAVOL chewables for the kids and some adult GRAVOL for us as well! Last year when we cruised the Disney Magic Western we brought the Gravol for everyone and the only one who ended up taking 1 pill the whole week was my DD. By the way...the Gravol worked for her in 20 minutes, with NO drowsiness!
I heard about the ginger pills, but not sure if they're good for the kids!?!:confused3

Oh my goodness we leave for disney tomorrow morning...I am so excited. I slept horribly last night. Just tossed and turned in excitement. I knew it would eventually really hit me and it has. My stomach is a little upset and I can't even think where to start today. Love those vacation jitters. It turns out its a good thing I have no car today I have a million things to get done around here, now it forces me to not be doing them at midnight tonight after shopping all day.Our resort has a computer in the room so I can still post. I just have to figure out what my password is...its saved in my laptop, I never type it in. Hope everyone has an amazing day 9.

I wish I were leaving tomorrow....unfortunately, I have a very busy work day tomorrow....VIP's coming in town for a meeting. Would much rather be on the road. I'm so jealous!!! Have a safe trip and we'll see you in 9 days!

Does anyone happen to know what night Pirate Night is on for the Eastern Cruise? I think it is on Tuesday night, but I'm not 100% sure.

Also, are there any "Crazy Cruisers" who are on deck 6? Just wondering if we have any neighbors....seems most of these "Crazy Cruisers" are on deck 2.

Have a great day everyone and we'll see you in 9 DAYS!!!!!!

PDFG and all our friends who need it.

Good Morning everybody.

Does anyone know if kids can take ginger pills??

9DAYS!!:cool1:

:cheer2:  :cheer2:

I took Ginger tablets on the last cruise (among all the other precautions) and I intend to take them again. Be sure to eat something with these as they tend to leave a bad taste in the back of your throat. :tilt:

zerog, this will be my first experience with the ginger. can you just swallow them or must they be chewed?

We saw that one too. It was making me dizzy to just WATCH them spinning in that chair!

LOL - I seem to be the only one in the family who experiences motion sickness. Mind you, I can ride a roller coaster but I can't ride anything that spins or those inside simulators.

So I bought the ginger pills that you swallow for myself. Nobody else in the family will be taking these. Maybe someone else has a suggestion for getting some ginger for kids (e.g., ginger ale, ginger cookies, etc.)

From another website:

Motion Sickness

Several studies suggest that ginger may be more effective than placebo in reducing symptoms associated with motion sickness. In one trial of 80 novice sailors (prone to motion sickness), those who took powdered ginger experienced a significant reduction in vomiting and cold sweating compared to those who took placebo. Similar results were found in a study with healthy volunteers. While these results are promising, other studies suggest that ginger is not as effective as medications in reducing symptoms associated with motion sickness. In a small study of volunteers who were given ginger (fresh root and powder form), scopolamine (a medication commonly prescribed for motion sickness), or placebo - those receiving the medication experienced significantly fewer symptoms compared to those who received ginger.

Conventional prescription and non-prescription medicines that decrease nausea may also cause unwanted side effects, such as dry mouth and drowsiness. Given the safety of ginger, many people find it a welcome alternative to these medications to relieve their motion sickness.

What time is boarding? And, when we board will our rooms be ready or do we have to wait a bit?

The port opens at 10:30. Upon entry to the terminal building you will be given a group number. Boarding will happen somewhere around noon, as soon as the port authority has cleared the ship to do so. At this time they will start calling group numbers, it really moves along smoothly. Staterooms will be available starting at I believe 1pm(might be 2-I'm not entirely sure), all access to the stateroom areas is roped off until then.

Split the difference. The staterooms open at 1:30 according to the Welcome Aboard sheet.

Also I believe the port opens at 10 am not 10:30.

I believe we are on deck 7 mid ship. Everyone that is driving to Florida in the next couple of days drive safe. weather looks great

Our van is back and its packed, I love it when everything is so organized when you first pack it. I've cleaned most of the house...all thats left is to vacuum.
This has been the SLOWEST day ever.

I hope that everyone travels safely. I can't wait to meet everyone!
