APRIL 25,2012 5 night THE MAGIC KEY WEST CRUISE

Ok, just got to thinking!! With all these Key West suggestions, I will need the DisBoard for our visit (or risk losing papers)...... Key West is still in FL, which means my phone will work there!! Woohoo!!!:dance3:

I think there are several places, but here is one I found on the internet we want to walk to. http://www.keylimeshop.com/

I am not sure if it is the one my BIL went to, but I hope they have samples...

They also have key lime pie on a stick... I think you can get it plain, or dipped in chocolate.

I want to bring some fudge back to some folks.

Hey if several of us want to get together and go, we could get a pie and split it... I get 1/2 and 4 other people can have a slice. :lmao:
I can help eat it, but I think your math is off!!

Or buy the pie and put it in your fridge to take back home ...... NO! Wait, to munch on the rest of the trip!

Seriously, does anyone know what the rules are concerning bringing food back onboard from a port? I had wondered about bringing a pie back on board, but wasn't sure if we could bring one. If we could, would it have to be an entire pie that had not been opened, or could we bring a boxed pie back onboard that was 1/2 eaten?

Anybody know? :confused3 I sure would hate to see them seize it and throw it in the trash.:headache::sick:

One week from today we will be getting on the boat!! I still have so much to do at home and am getting nothing done. I still gave to fill in th dogs paperwork for boarding, order meds for while we are away (stupid ins co), get assignments from the kids teachers (since we are doing a b2b). They are going to miss 9 days of school. Gotta go but more ink for my printer and labels and make labels for our FE gifts, food shop for the next few days, get dog food, drs appts, scouts... Ugh not enough hours in a day

I know there is a list of things you can't bring on board. I will have to check the DCL page again. I thinks it's fruits and meats but I will double check

Ok for sure it's no raw meats, fruits or vegetables. Others say they have had issues with food others say they had no problems. I would call DCL just to be safe.

Right from the border patrol website:

You may bring bakery items and certain cheeses into the United States. The APHIS Web site features a Travelers Tips section and Game and Hunting Trophies section that offers extensive information about bringing food and other products into the U.S. Many prepared foods are admissible. However, bush meat made from African wildlife and almost anything containing meat products, such as bouillon, soup mixes, etc., is not admissible. As a general rule, condiments, vinegars, oils, packaged spices, honey, coffee and tea are admissible. Because rice can often harbor insects, it is best to avoid bringing it into the United States. Some imported foods are also subject to requirements of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Thanks Jessica... sounds like I will be ok with fudge or maybe a pie... especially considering it will be from Key West. Don't plan on bringing any raw meat onboard.... I prefer mine cooked. :thumbsup2

My stomach is in knots, but for different reasons.... those of you that pray, I ask you say one for my Dad. He is 89 and really having some trouble the last few days with his breathing. I am praying his health will settle down. I don't want to have to cancel this cruise out, but I would hate for something to happen while we are gone. We are just going to keep praying and hopefully, we will get to see you all.

Thoughts and prayers for your dad and your family! It's not fun when your parents are sick, I lost my mom very early and my dad 6 years ago.

ANYWHOO!!! :dance3: I cannot wait!!!! I still have to make my FE but my gifts are done. I actually found some dresses I like (an amazing feat). Where all are you guys going at Key West? I know we will be going to Margaritaville! :cool1::yay:

Ya'll, I'm sitting in an Excel training class wondering how I can use this to design a spreadsheet for something about our cruise.....

I am just about to check out and be completely in vacation mode. :rolleyes1pirate::coffee::idea:

Love chocolate dipped key lime pie! YUM

I still need to make my FE too.

Is there a chocolate buffet? That would be awesome!

Does anyone bring gifts for your room stewart? Think it would be a great idea but have no idea what to bring.

Got some new cloths for the trip, can't wait!!!pirate:

I finally finished my fish extender! Now, I have to finish all the clothes for the girls... I used A for my 6 y.o. & a for my 4 y.o. We sometimes call them Big A and little a (like from Dr. Seuss' ABC book).

Cool FE! I love the pockets.:cool1: My son made us a new one out of duct tape. :yay:

Just checking in as the "in laws" of mcmommy77. We're really looking forward to the cruise and to the FE experience. We've been to Disneyland in the deep dark past, Disneyworld many times, but this is our first Disney cruise. Actually, it's only our second cruise of any kind. The first one was to Bermuda and the Bermuda Triangle lived up to its reputation - on our last full day at sea we were broadsided by an 85 foot rogue wave and came close to living the Poseidon Adventure. Better luck this time, I hope. Thought I'd warn everyone; it's not too late to back out.!

I certainly hope you don't want a repeat performance. I haven't seen the movie, but I think I know the general plot. I'm not looking to be cast in a sequel.
