April 23, 2009 Wonder...who else is going?

Hey guys :hippie:
My daughter and I went and bought fabric and supplies to 'attempt' to make a fish extender. I'm glad i've got Ebay as a back up to just buy one if ours turns out bad ;)
We've been picking up little things here and there to include in our 'goody bags' for the exchange. I'm still trying to think of what to include for the adults. I've gotten some great ideas on the fish extender threads here on the Dis.
Only 58 days until our trip officially starts! Only 60 days till we cruise :beach:

Good Luck Momto2inKC on the making of the Fish Extender. You'll have to let us know how it turns out. I bought one on ebay light blue with Mickey's on it. Not too original but cute and will do just fine. We are so excited and havebeen shopping for FE gifts also. Can't wait!!!!!!

We still have plenty of time if anyone else wants to join. Leave your name and ages/gender of your children/adults who want to participate.

I've been picking up a few items, but I have an idea of what I want to buy in Disney. My husband and I along with another adult couple are going to be in Disney for 4 nights before the cruise. We love hitting the two Disney outlet stores for gift items.

I have my American flag fish extender from my previous cruise. I've got to find some material to make one for my sister-in-laws room.

I was floored by the items that we received during our last exchange. We were a small group of 6 rooms but the group was so thoughtful and creative. My husband told me I needed to get on the ball because they went over and above.

The exchange was one of the highlights of my kids cruise and I'm so excited to have someone else interested in participating with me on this cruise!

I sew a little when the need arises so I was able to sew backing onto the length to make it sturdy and then stitched the pockets onto the front. I used a dow rod at the top to keep it from slumping in the middle. I know some threads have suggested using hot glue or the no stitch.

This is my first time to organize a fish extender exchange and I believe I've made it to sound like it's a kids exchange. It is not meant to exclude adults. On my last cruise 2 of the 6 rooms did not have kids. If you want to exchange join in. Send me your information (for example who wants to exchange, adults, children, etc) and I'll add you to the list.

ok I'm in - only my kids though- we still do not know if DH is going. My room is still GTY status. Here is my info- DD 11 & DD 6. It has sure been a loooong week at work- I wish it was April already! I read they were going to change the menus in March- anybody have info?:goodvibes

We've added a new recruit to our group!:woohoo:

Welcome lumpysluck to the Fish Extender exchange.

Okay here we go with the start of the list:

dfsc room 2 - dd (4) ds (11)
jibby - ds (8)
momto2inkc - dd (10) ds (12)
lumpysluck - dd (11) dd (6)

Anyone else interested in joining?

Read post #70 for more information.

I am planning on doing the same. Few gifts for the kids and then one gift for the adults in each room so no one is left out. I am working on the kids gifts already and have a few ideas for adults gifts but nothing final yet. This sure adds to the excitement of the cruise. My ds and I are having fun!!!!:woohoo:

Where is everyone staying the night before- I am torn between driving to Orlando and staying than driving the rest the way or getting all the way to the port- I am pretty sure this will be a girls only cruise- does anyone know if you can cancel a passenger when you arrive at port or should I do this ahead of time? Also is there any "free" bottled water on the ship (I need some to go along with my adult sweet tea I am taking) :rotfl:

We're flying in Tuesday night and staying at Pop Century that night. Then we're spending Wed at Magic Kingdom and staying the night at Animal kingdom Villas.

I went to Kohls today to look around and found the cutest skirt! It is black and quite long. But get this, it has circles on it and they look like Mickey heads in some spots LOL I just *had to get it! I guess i'll wear it the last night to dinner since it's optional dress up night. I'll take a pic to show you guys.
Oh, and I got the biggest part of our fish extender done. I do not recommend anyone make one of these without a sewing machine LOL It was terrible! My fingers hurt so badly :scared1: But the sewing is done, now I just need to decorate the pockets with our names and put something on the top in that blank area.

We are staying at Wilderness Lodge without the kids a few nights before the cruise. Our children and the rest of our group are flying in Wednesday and I have rooms at all Star Music I was able to book with an annual passholder rate.:cool1:

The ship does not have free bottled water. You can order a package from room service when you arrive. I've seen the price on other threads. I believe you get a discount if you order the water package versus paying for each bottle individually.:confused3

I'm glad everyone is excited about the fish extender exchange. It is fun to plan/shop for the exchange and then receive the interesting-thoughtful items from everyone.:wizard:

Wow- April can't get here fast enough. Well I am need of a Fish Extender- they are expensive on Ebay- I am in planning mode- We are driving to Jacksonville Wed. and dtaying at the Baymeadows Embassy Suites and then driving the rest of the way after their yummy breakfast. My daughters still have no idea- i kinda mentioned we may go on vacation sometime to Amelia Island- (HA HA little do they know)I am not telling them until we are at the port- they are terrible with directions - the GPS will get us there.

We have early dining- the last cruise we were on we had late- I prefer the late b/c we never eat at home till late- but hopefully this way we will have all evening to play on the ship.

Do we have a meet yet? With all these DD 10-12 I would love to get my DD to meet you all. I can't believe there are only us on this board- mabey the ship will not be that crowded.
:yay:

You might find something at a Dollar store that will work for the fish extender. I remeber reading posts about some being able to find hangers for the bathroom/shoes with several pockets that worked for them. I've read other posts were they used hot glue or that tube of no stich glue available in the sewing department.

Good luck... Felicia

This is my first cruise on a Disney ship looking for a fish extender group or find out more info on the hole fish extender deal
can anyone help!!!!

Hey everyone, hows the planning going? I'm getting really excited because they should be assigning cabin numbers for those of us who booked GTY here pretty soon!!!:goodvibes

We've once again made changes to our pre-cruise plans. Since Disney released the new room only codes, we are now arriving Monday, the 20th and staying 2 nights at Caribbean Beach Resort, then we'll stay 1 night at Animal Kingdom Villas, then on to the cruise Thursday. I cannot wait! We still only plan on hitting the parks Wed. We're going to just hang out around CBR's pool and take it all in :cloud9:

I *really need to work on my fish extender and gifts. I still just need to finish up the pockets on it and paint the dowel rod. And my gifts I haven't worked on except one little part  I've got to get my behind in gear!!!
