Just got back from our trip to OKW with one night prior to at POP century on a basically last minute basis (booked 2 weeks in advance, moved up from June). We got to Disney on Earth Day which was fun, they were making edible landfills at POP Century, which was an activity my daughter and I participated in. It was fun, free, and educational and you could tell the engineer teaching about actual landfills was passionate about the subject which was cool. After that we went to the Magic Kingdom and I absolutely loved the Magic, Memories and You show!
On Saturday we took a taxi to OKW to check in. Despite the size of the resort the front desk was able to get us a room which was ready at 9AM close to the turtle shack pool and turtle pond bus stop. I really loved being close to the bus stop
It's also nice that it was easy to get around the resort on the bus. We went to the parks less this vacation. I literally only spent a morning in the Animal Kingdom, but I think knowing i'd be back before long, and that our last visit was last August enabled me to really relax and take it easy, and not go all commando touring.
On Wednesday we went to Welcome Home Wednesdays at the Atlantic Dance Hall which was very fun, I won a gift certificate for Sammy Duvalls at the Contemporary. I used the gift certificate to pay for a portion of a jet ski tour of bay lake and seven seas lagoon. I can honestly say that was the highlight of our vacation, I have never driven a jet ski and it was so cool to go out on both lakes with a guide and have basically a personal tour of bay lake and seven seas lagoon. I learned things that I never knew before, I thought it was pretty cool that they used to generate waves on seven seas lagoon and that you could actually surf in front of the polynesian. We also got to go near river country and discovery island which was pretty cool. The guide was super nice and then we got time to have some free riding in a huge area on the side of bay lake just for jet skiis. Now I want one! Actually my desire for a jet ski kept me from doing an add on at the member presentation at Bay Lake Tower we went to on Thursday.
They were offering a great deal for add on at SSR. I cannot believe that people buying now are paying 140 per point for Bay Lake Tower. To me that is pure insanity. Bay lake tower was nice but I can honestly say I prefer any of the other DVC resorts to BLT. They just seem more "Florida" to me, especially OKW. I wasn't sure of OKW when I reserved there but I was very happy, just wish the kitchenette was a little larger in the studio. The cabinets were too high really for storage and there was not much counter space, but that's ok, it sure wasn't a dealbraker.
All in all it was a great vacation, a great way to wash away all the memories of the job I hated for the last two years and a fresh start for my new job which I start this Monday. I am so excited to have evenings and weekends free again! I am refreshed and ready to go
