April 22, 2013 5-night out of Miami

It looks like we can make a 'secret group' on Facebook...assuming everyone has (or can create) a Facebook account? I am willing to create the group but then have to figure out a way to send invites (???). Anyone have experience with this?

I have a google doc (borrowed from a previous FE leader) that I was going to post information on tomorrow. I had heard that FB was a no-go for some so this didn't require any "membership". I'd be happy to send it to you if you'd like to be the organizer. Just PM me your email.

I'd be happy to co-chair, if you'd like help. Whatever works to make this fun :-)

Only 68 more days - but who's counting????

This is our first Disney cruise. We have two kids, 10 year old boy and 7 year old daughter. We ant to do the FE also but I am a little unsure of the rules. Can someone help me. How many items do we need? Is there some where to sign up. Any tips for first time people. I see I am behind on booking excursions. I will have to look into that ASAP.

I was just about to direct you to this thread from your other post - I see you found us! Welcome!!

In the post above is a link to the form to register for the FE. We just started sign-up today so you haven't missed anything. There really aren't any rules - the only one is if you sign up, please pass something out.

There are lots of fun homemade ideas on the boards and you can also purchase things for gifts. There are also Fish Extender ideas on the boards - you can make one or purchase one (they are on Etsy and Ebay, I think.) I have also found pictures and ideas to make them on Pinterest.

We also have a 10 (almost 11!) year old boy - maybe they will meet up!

Feel free to PM me with questions - if I can help out, I'd be happy to! We are first time DCL cruisers but have learned a lot from these boards!

Hello, I am new to the forum, and a new Disney Cruiser. We are taking our first Cruise with a 7 year old daughter, and a 10 year old son. We want to take part in the FE but need some guidance on the rules. Can some one help us. Are there any specifics we should know. How many items do we bring? Is there any suggestions or off boundry items? Also any general tips are grateful. I am getting a little nervous.

Hi, I think a lot of us are new to this so don't worry! The whole idea is to have some fun and meet people! I've learned a ton by looking through the threads. I've seen everything from unique homemade gifts to things bought at the dollar store. Target also has some nice things for a few dollars or less. Search Fish Extenders and you'll see some pictures too.

This is going to be our first Disney cruise also. We have 10 and 8 year old daughters and they are super excited about the cruise, the kids clubs and meeting kids their age!

I am! I am!

:hourglass

Can't wait for this cruise! We've sailed on the Wonder before, and also the Dream (as well as Carnival, Norwegian and Royal Carribean Oasis). LOVE LOVE LOVE the Wonder. Love Disney.

Traveling with me will be my husband, son (11) and daughter (9). The kids are very friendly and LOVE the kid's clubs. Hoping to meet a few friends for them, via this board, in advance -- because let's face it -- making new friends on vacation is 1/2 the fun!

What excursions are everyone doing? I've been to both Grand Cayman and Cozumel before -- so we haven't decided on any.... YET. :rolleyes1

When doing the FE, do we plan to give out something to everyone or are we assigned certain cabins?

Thanks!

Signed up for the FE gift exchange last night! Very excited to start planning for it! I wondering if everyone has planned their excursions. We booked the family fun at tiki beach for Grand Cayman and the Xcaret Eco park or Cozumel. Any thoughts or reviews for those two?

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Signed up for a Dolphin encounter in GC but may change to Dolphin Cove (non-Disney ) because has really good ratings and is less expensive. May do the explore rays in Cozumel but also thinking of the ruins as an option. Anyone know if those have a lot of walking?

I think different groups do it different ways. If we have a lot of people sign up it has been suggested we divide it by cabin location (forward, mid, aft). Otherwise, yes, you give a gift to each cabin (or each person- that would be up to the giver).

After 24 hours we have 5 families w/ 20 total people signed up! :thumbsup2

I thought after the final date to sign up when we know how many families are involved we'd put it out to the group to see what people wanted to do. What do you all think about that?

Jenn, Thank you so much. THis is a last minute trip for us and I am feeling alittle over whelmed. But it is a great problem to have. LOL. I am so glad to hear that you have an 10-11 year old son. My son is a little nervouse. Maybe we can arrange to meet up. He is my shy child. My daughter is very outgoing. I have no worries she will make friends. I pray my son will find a friend.

Ok. I am catching on. Yeah me. I figured out how to use this site, signed up for the FE. (Although I am not sure of our cabin number) I have one excursion booked, pirate costumes are started, FE ideas are developing. Thank you everyone for your help. :cheer2:

Yay! Ours is kind of last minute too. We just booked January 29th. Jake would love to make a friend his age!

Glad you joined the FE!
