April 21, 2007 -- Western Magic -- anyone?

I used to watch Survivor....then it sort of bored me for some reason. I used to watch the Apprentice also, until Trump fired Carolyn. :sad2: Haven't watched it this season at all.

I LOVE The Amazing Race. Big Brother also amuses me, though DH thinks it's stupid. It's the type of show I can have on while I'm doing other stuff, and still know what's going on. Same with Idol most nights - I'm listening while surfing on the 'net.

That's what I did last night, Amanda! I listened to Idol while I was finishing up my painting. Dh could never do that though, as he's not good at multi-tasking when the TV is on. He either needs to sit down and watch, or do what he needs to do. He could never understand how I can sit and scrapbook at the table, and still know what's happening on the TV.:rotfl:

Whew! That was a long hour away from the thread. Back to stalking now.

OMG - that happens at our house too!!! We're working with Emily to pick up her toys before she moves to something else. She has started getting an allowance for doing chores around the house (a whole dollar $), but it's exciting for her, and it helps when she complains about cleaning.

We've considered an allowance, too. It kind of worked once or twice, but then even that gets old. They realize that they have to work for it!

I too stalk the DIS while at work as it is slow for me at the moment. I just don't post. :sad2:

Oooh, I like Alton Brown also. Val probably does too, she just isn't here to say so. :rotfl2:

DH doesn't buy everything, but oh boy, does he love to look! For his birthday in Feb. he wanted a new tool, the one he had totally broke. I kept saying "Just go get it" We walked around the store for 10 minutes while he thought about it. He finally went through with it though, and is sooo happy. He's definitely not an impulse buyer, but he sure does smile when he gets the new stuff home.

OK, let's get one more thing straight. You can't lurk anymore. :rotfl: You NEED to post and join us thread stalkers. If you don't like chocolate or want a more "man themed" door sign, I'll be glad to create one. But you need to chatter so Val, Amy & I don't seem like we're overwhelming this thread. Even if you post to say "Hi" and "guess what I had for lunch today", we'd still like to read it. :)

 I have to admit, I don't know who Alton Brown is. I did a quick search and found he is on Food Network. I'm feeling so "out of the loop" on this one. I'll have to start watching that channel...as I'm stalking.

And speaking of stalking, I hope we haven't totally turned off some lurkers/infrequent posters since we have gotten soooo OT. Maybe we should occasionally mention the cruise from time to time, too! :lmao:

thanks! our cabinets are maple,

definately my DH is in on the must-have-new-tool-for-each-new-job conspiracy :rotfl: but he treats me to so much, i just stand back and let him go at it :scared:

do we have any Survivor fans on board?

Maple! They look good!

I have to admit, I'm treated pretty well, too. ;)

Sorry...no Survivor for me. My Thursdays are too full already. We have East and West coast channels on our satellite so the shows on at 7 are on again at 10 on the other channel. Before The O.C. went off, we had the Tivo running from 7 PM until 1 AM every Thursday, and we still had to watch some shows in a different room!

That's funny Amy! I multi-task all the time. Example right now, I'm going through some reports at work, have music playing, and thread stalking every so often too. All the while thinking of where I need to go during lunch, what's for supper tonight, etc. I can't imagine having to focus on just one thing at a time, and thinking in one direction constantly. :rotfl:

Idol and Survivor I watch while doing other things, except during challenges and final vote on Survivor and any performer I like or the judges critiques on Idol. I love trashing Paula for being too nice and think Simon is usually right, just too brash.

For months I was telling my wife we needed to get a DVR (Tivo) for our DirecTV so that we wouldn't miss any of the shows we tape and because our VCRs were getting really old. She protested for a while, then I found a deal where we got it for free and we got it. Now, we tape everything we watch and start them 10 - 20 minutes late so we can fast forward through the commercials. I have heard many times in the past 18 months that this is the greatest invention ever. So, we usually start all of these shows late and zip through the stuff we don't like - snakes on Exile Island, commercials, singers we don't like ...

Anybody got any thoughts on what movies we might be seeing on our cruise?

:lmao: Well shoot. I was waiting for you to say "Oh yes, Alton Brown, he's so awesome, that's yet ANOTHER thing!" :rotfl:

I've been in this warm tiny office waaaay too long today.......headed out to lunch in a bit. It's 75 degrees today. :scared1: Usually not that warm during March!

As soon as we got home last night, DD ran for her swingset. We stayed outside for about 2 hours, and it was fabulous! I kept thinking it won't be too long before I'll be in the sun on a ship & relaxing, with no need to hurry inside & get supper cooked. Can't wait to have someone else cook & clean up! :cheer2:

His show is called Good Eats and he mixes comedy, history and science into his shows. So, for a computer geek like me, he is the perfect host. I also like him because he focusses in on things people make/eat everday.

My MIL debates every year on deciding if I get a Bed, Bath and Beyond (for cooking stuff) or Besy Buy gift card for my b'day. Not too many guys I know were thrilled to get 3 cookbooks, a new 5 quart skillet and BB&B gift cards for Christmas.

Ok, I'm back from my laundry to stalk some more!!! :lmao: And, please, all of you lurkers and occasional posters, don't feel intimidated, we're all here for ya. And, if you have any cruise questions, ask away!!!

As for movies, I'm hoping to see Wild Hogs since it's a Buena Vista movie and I'm sure that Meet the Robinsons will be onboard, as well.

:lmao: I did the same thing with our Directv. I wanted the DVR, but refused to pay for it to be installed. Found a nice little code on the internet that made it free though, so I was happy! I agree, it is the BEST thing. Especially at night, if we want to watch something and it's DD's bedtime. Just record, and be done!

It does mess up DD though. We were watching "real" TV this weekend and the commercials came on, she said "Get past those commercials Mom!" but I couldn't, since it was actually "live." Kinda makes me want to record everything & never watch "real" TV again. Commercials are annoying except during the Superbowl. :cool2:

We think Simon is usually right, too. DH tends to trash Paula but not because she's too nice. He always thinks she's wasted. Has anyone seen the videos on YouTube?!?!?! I think I've only noticed it once or twice so far this season, but even if she's obviously not, he still says she is!

TIVO IS THE BEST INVENTION EVER IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!! We've had it for about two years now and don't know how we ever lived without it! We usually wait until the boys are in bed to start watching something, but like I said before, I'm way behind on Oprah. I have DIS to thank for "dat." :lmao: (get it? Instead of "this" and "that." ;)) Anyway, we very rarely watch a show on the same night it was recorded, except Idol because I have to vote. Last year, we got so far behind on some shows, like House, that we watched the entire season in a few sittings. I tell you what, that's the way to go. Waiting until you get about 3 or 4 episodes in a row and then watch them all at once! It's heaven!

I'm hoping Cars will be on during the cruise because I've already told the boys it will be (I saw on old Navigators). Not like they haven't seen it or anything...it's only one of their favorites. Hudson can say some parts of it word for word.

Wild Hogs would be good! I want to see that one. :thumbsup2 We've stayed away from the theaters since Christmas, since we never knew what we may get to see on the ship.

 I'm wishing I would have been able to say that about Alton Brown, but I can't. :sad1: Not yet anyway.

Amanda, you must be having the weather that we had yesterday (high 70's). It was beautiful. Usually we are out playing on our playground, but since MIL took the boys, our neighbors were wondering why we weren't out. That's usually when they come over to play. I told DH it will probably snow one more time. It usually does in late March or early April. Even sometimes in late April. But as long as I don't end up missing my flight to Orlando becuase of it, I don't care! :woohoo:

So where in Virginia are you from, Amanda? I have an uncle that lives in Haymarket (I believe...they used to be in Vienna). DH took a business trip last year to see a customer in Harrisonburg, I think. At the time, he talked about making it an annual trip, but so far, he hasn't said anything about going again.

Preston and I saw Wild Hogs -- i didn't even think it would be on the ship, i guess i didn't think about that one; i saw those guys on O and just had to see it that weekend! it is hilarous :rotfl: and yet still a good story

Paige and Preston are anxiously awaiting Meet the Robinsons -- me, no thank you. for some reason i'm having trouble with this one. of course i was unsure of Finding Nemo and Cars...how could there possibly be a good storyline with speaking vehicles? well proven wrong, and i should know b/c i love Pixar. Preston keeps doing his impression of "Master...i have a big head and little arms" and driving me

hey did i tell you Taylor had a dog show last weekend our mini-wirehaired doxie won Best of Breed? she's off to Louisville tomorrow for another big show. long story, she gave me wrong dates (spring break) and i allowed her to go Thursday, then when she realized they were all registered so she's missing a day of school. after i gave the 'you are missing a whole week for a vacation so no more dog show days' lecture. darn! i hate that

i admit -- i just had time warner come and put in a 2nd DVR box in the master bedroom. pause, FF, record...............must...have... MORE!

i do watch Apprentice too -- Paige and I watch that and Survivor. i'm ready for a shake-up on Survivor too. i like Yauman for now

oh cruise talking......ummm.........hey i think i won the prize for most outrageous pre-cruise preparation. wanna guess? hint: involves only me

ok i left myself WIDE open for that one!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

hint #2: it is acceptable to show off in public

:rolleyes1 :cool2: :thumbsup2
