April 2021 W.I.S.H. Thread - Spring into Spring!

WOOHOO! I feel well enough to return to school today!
WOOHOO! It's MUTE BUTTON Wednesday!
WOOHOO! I only have 3 days left until April vacation, and only one of those days involves in-person learners!
WOOHOO! We retain our remote Wednesdays even though all remote learners will be welcomed back after vacation! (I actually want everyone in the classroom now that I'm fully vaccinated and will be immune as of April 16th. It's so hard to teach to both groups of students simultaneously.)

Woohoo for sleeping well last night, after a couple restless nights.
Woohoo for Spring! There was actually some warmth in the sunshine yesterday and lots of lovely things are blooming.

Woohoo for getting the first vaccine, now I'm going to see if I can move up my second before things open up to everyone next week.

Woohoo-we had a wonderful family get together for Easter here at the beach. Weather was great-lots of walks and spent a lot of time outside.

Woohoo-have gotten back on track with meals.

Woohoo-spending a few days here by myself! Enjoying the quiet and getting a few projects done.

Today I’mthankful for spring weather, more hours of daylight and spring sports! Last night I went to my daughter’s high school lacrosse game and watched my son’s away high school baseball game on my phone. In PA, only home spectators are allowed at sports. So many away games are streamed or have an app that keeps track of plays and stats. So there usually a way to see how the game is going. And there was still enough daylight afterwards for me to go for a walk. And I multitasked during my walk by checking Seesaw activities posted by my students. The weather was just perfect!

Today I might sign up for the Classic Lion King Virtual 5K. I really want to do them all, but for coat purposes, I might just do the one. I have a few more hours to decide...

Woohoo a day late. DS's birthday was yesterday. We is such an easy going kid. We went clothes shopping and then watched survivor. We did have ice cream cake and chicken poprikash for dinner. That is his favorite. Though I wish it wasn't 80 out yesterday. It made the 2 hours making a bit rough. I might have lost 10 pounds just making it.

I am thankful for the week off. I really needed it. Now I just need to get back on a schedule. I haven't been working out and I haven't been eat great either. I am hoping to go for a bike ride tonight and we will go to the zoo tomorrow and then maybe a bike ride after.

Also thankful for Spring! Sunshine and more hours of sunlight are so good for one's soul.

I was getting inspired with so many of you saying you were going to do the Lion King Virtual 5ks that I thought about signing up, but it looks like they are all sold out... how does a virtual race sell out? Surely they could make more metals? What do y'all think about setting up our own virtual 5k?

Thankful my grandson is able to play baseball this spring-he’s so excited.

Thankful for these quiet days alone but equally thankful my husband returns Saturday.

Thankful to celebrate our 41st anniversary this weekend!

Here is our gift to each other-

I really wanted The Classic, but that sold out quickly (I think it was less than 30 minutes). I was able to get The Broadway 5K. But I honestly hesitated and thought about just going ahead and doing the challenge of all 3. But I wasn’t sure my husband would have been happy about the surprise cost ;)

WooHoo/Thankfuls:
DS got his first vaccine yesterday!!
I also came home to a lovely hyacinth on my steps.
And it’s starting to look like spring here 😃
I was excited this morning to make appointments for my twins to get their first vaccine shots next week! They work for the local grocery store and were therefore moved into our phase 1A for vaccinations. My son goes on Monday and my daughter next Thursday! I feel a great amount of relief knowing my whole family will be vaccinated!

It’s Free-For-All Friday!
What’s on your mind?

I’m just happy it’s Friday. I always say these short weeks seem longer! The kids at school have been really off this week...not listening, making messes on purpose, being more physical at recess.

Our friends’ daughter needs prayers. She had a hemispherectomy as a baby and recently had a revision surgery (she’s almost ten now). But she’s having shunt issues and is back in the hospital for the third time since the revision surgery.

Our neighbor also needs prayers. He was just in a work accident yesterday resulting in 2 fractures in his spine, but he was actually very lucky it wasn’t worse.

MickeyMom: Sorry to hear about your friends and neighbor. Hope all goes well for both.

Today, the remainder of the district receives their 2nd shot, so those of us who already had it done last week only have to report for a half-day working in our classrooms and no teaching. I assigned online assignments for my students, so I won't have any face-time with any of them until everyone returns on April 19th.

Everyone took an exam last week that I wasn't able to take because I had a leadership team meeting while everyone else was doing it, so today is the day. This exam is given to graduating seniors after taking a semester-long class preparing them to ace the test. Many of these young teachers-to-be fail the test in spite of their recent studies and preparation class. I have been out of school for 30 years. I have taught 20 years of PreK and almost 2 of Kindergarten. I student-taught Kindergarten and 1st. How I can be expected to pass a test that covers up to 5th grade, I cannot imagine. So, I will do my best, but I am not looking forward to spending 3 hours taking a test that I will no doubt fail. When I am done with that disaster, I have to set up my room with new tables, plexiglass, etc... That is what I should really be devoting my day to. So, when everyone else has left for the day, I will be staying late reconfiguring my room, moving furniture, organizing each child's belongings. and taping down plexiglass with the hopes that they don't break it. At least I won't have students.

I truly look forward to that moment when Spring Break begins!

No big plans for the weekend, other than needing to mow the lawn for the first time of the season. I love mowing but don't love mowing this lawn because the front yard isn't flat... most of the grass is dead so it really shouldn't take that long. I might clean up on the front porch as well, as it will be porch sitting weather soon. Maybe I'll do the country drive and stop at the nursery to pick up a couple things.
