Dollar has some good rates today FYI it's worth checking.

Just got a Full Size for 9 days 4/5-4/13 for $150, no coupon needed.

Have been stalking this and other months boards and think I found a decent deal for April 15-22, through Alamo, using Vegas Brazil and $25 off coupon. $218.54 for standard SUV.

The only other one I have found cheaper was EZCar Rental and I am hesitant to go ahead with them as I know nothing about the company (I am in Canada and can't remember ever hearing of them before now). Has anyone heard of them and have suggestions (grab it or RUN!) It was maybe $20 cheaper, but also didn't require a somewhat debatable promo code...

I got all excited this morning.....carrentalsavers.com was showing our 10-day rental with Avis for $152 including taxes for a full size car.

I got all the way to the final "confirm reservation" button, and it comes up with a message saying that the car and rate are no longer available .

Tried it on two different browsers with the same result. Dang it!

Just got a full size for $166 (April 24th to May 3rd inclusive).

Now holding a mini van with Alamo for $268, a premium with Dollar for $222, and the full size at $166. I think I'll go ahead and cancel the van .

I have been diligently watching rates (along with booking and cancelling) for months and I have found the best rates this week. We originally had a mid size booked for April 9-29 with an upgrade to standard for $482 using the VB code along with AU5059ODT upgrade coupon but I was a bit tentative because my reservation wouldn't allow me to remove the CDW coverage, even after multiple attempts on different devices. I tried the Costco code today in conjunction with coupon code AD3868JST and got a mini van for $546 with Enterprise and $556 with Alamo. Enterprise waives the additional driver fee for a spouse and the Costco code gives us another additional driver for free so I will be able to add one of my parents also. Alamo will only allow 1 additional driver but I love their prepay option (1 less thing to worry about). If you are a Costco member I would suggest trying that code again. I used the Costco website for the Enterprise reservation but used the Alamo for that reservation as I combines the rate with a $25 off coupon.

I was able to get the same full size with Dollar via RBC Travel Rewards, and only paid $192 Canadian . Booked it today, cancelled the $166 USD reservation with Dollar. Super pleased to get something so reasonable and in Canadian funds! Fingers crossed you get a similar price for your dates too .

I had some points accumulated as well (though not as impressive as your total....you go, girl! ) so it was nice to nudge the overall out-of-pocket cost down even a little more. I will call Dollar on Monday and have them add our Dollar Express number so we can go straight to the garage on arrival.

This is over $100 less than we had set aside in our budget for the rental....the $222 for the premium was going to be $320 after exchange, and the $268 for the van would have been $388-ish when converted to Canadian dollars. So, with the savings, we will splurge on a cabana at Aquatica for our waterpark day .

A big thanks to @Joan S. for the gentle nudge to give the rates another look today, and for all the aweome folks on this thread who have been so kind as to share codes and coupons over the last several months .

I see others have discovered the lower Dollar rates this week. I somehow didn't get any notifications for those posts. Anyhow, I was checking in to let folks know to check out Dollar also. I just checked and got the Lock Low and Go (Compact or larger, they pick depending on what's available), and it's only $111.13 for 8 days (April 18-25). That's a savings of over $50 based on what I had with Alamo using the Vegas deal and coupon code. Granted, it may be a slightly smaller car, but it's only 2 of us, and it won't include the extra driver (which Alamo includes), but that gives me the excuse to not drive I'm not cancelling Alamo yet. I'll see what DH wants to do.

Yes, if you are a EXPRESS member (which I recommend). You walk out the the garage and they have the car waiting for you. You do not have the option of picking a car, they pick it for you, but you do not have to wait in a line at all.

We rented a full sized car from Dollar in May 2015. We are Dollar Express members, so we were able to go straight to the garage. When we arrived, the board that lists renter names had ours listed with "See Agent" rather than the assigned space for our vehicle. We went to the little kiosk in the garage, and were told to pick whichever vehicle we wanted from the available cars within the class we reserved. So we definitely had the option of picking our own car (and are hoping for that again in April ).

I have no idea if its a new "thing" (perhaps in their efforts to compete with Alamo?) or if we just got lucky. I am optimistically hoping its a new policy. I like being able to pick our own vehicle .
