April 2011 or Christmas 2010?

Hey

We're looking at an adult only trip for two and a half weeks for either Christmas 2010 or April/May 2011. In the past we've always gone the very end of April to beginning of May. In fact we were there last year for my birthday (which is end of april). We were looking at doing the same for next year but because we're in the UK and the exchange rate has dropped (and cause we're all broke :lmao: ) we've been discussing postponing it a little. We thought about postponing it til the following year as we know the weather is lovely then and it's not too crowded and it gives us longer to save up. But that just seems too far away. So, here's the question....

If it was you, would you go for the normal time slot because you know you like it, you'll have time to save and you can do water parks etc, even though it means making it 2011. OR would you go in Nov/early Dec 2010 because it's closer, you still have time to save up and it's reportedly magical then even though it will effect what you can do weather wise and might be more crowded?

Thanks

Seo

I would go for April. The crowds are lower then and the weather is a little more predictable. I've heard that on christmas day MK can reach capacity. If you can work with your days at the parks and avoid these days it may be ok. Howerver I would still wait and go in April.

Thanks. We wouldn't be going over the holidays. It'd prob be november (early to mid) or early dec.

I'm going in April 2011.
It seemed like a long time last year, but it is only 2 years away.
Easter is really late in April 2011 and we plan on being there that weekend and the week after Easter. We are hoping everyone goes home after Easter like they did 4 years ago.
Spring breaks are over, the school year is ending, so people really don't pull their kids out of school when they are going to be finishing in a few weeks.

My vote is April 2011.

Thanks OhMari - Could you give me the easter dates for US hols for 2011 please?

Easter in 2011 is April 24, which is pretty late. It wil make the last week of April/early May MUCH more crowded than when Easter is earlier in April, or in March.

Ooohh wow, yes that will. That's my birthday and we're normally there from about 22-24th onwards. Humm, that might change things. Thank you.

Go for the first week in December. Is it possible to shorten the visits and go both in Dec and April (or May)?

We live a bit over a half hour from the back gate but we still do the first week of Dec every year at BCV's. If you have never been there during the Christmas season, try it this year. I think you'll like it!

For me, the first two weeks in December are the most magical weeks of the year. The crowds are very light and the christmas decorations are up. Plus, there are extra shows and events happening during this time.

I would pick December. The Christmas decorations are BEAUTIFUL!

We are planning to go April 2011, probably two weeks before Easter. It's my DH's 40th birthday on the 16th and DD will be 3 in May so it's the perfect time.

It's good to see others planning for the same time. It seems sooo far away.

If you have never been, definitely go during Christmas time. It is something that everyone should do at least once. Plus, I tell everyone that the first wto weeks in Dec are the best time to visit Disney, because you get the benefit of all of the Christmas pagentry without the Christmas chaotic crowds. I am sure that things will be scaled back due to the economy, but Christmas time down there is something that all should experience.

I have gone twice in my life (both during either the first or second week in Dec) and have absolutely loved it every time.

Thanks everyone. Just one question - my friend is a wuss when it comes to cold (she wore a light sweater in the evening when we were there last april (80+ degrees). I'm assuming Nov will be too cold to go to the waterparks, etc?

We just got a Christmas trip last year and planning again for this year, so better go during Christmas, it's really wonderful. :thumbsup2

Must admit I love the idea of Christmas time at the park (or pre-Christmas) but one of the party wants water parks too.
