APRIL 2011 - Code Watch!!! Join the PARTY!!

Thanks Renee for starting this thread! :flower3:

I'm joining in with the Easter crowd...our Spring vacation falls the week after Easter this year so I will be fighting the crowds with some of you! Glad we have a thread to chat about discounts. I have AKL booked right now, but if there are no discounts offered, I may have to split with the Dolphin or just do Dolphin altogether. Right now it's a waiting game...hopefully WDW figures things out before my 45 day mark!

Happy planning everyone, and crossing my fingers for us all! :grouphug:

Thanks and WELCOME! Pixie dust to all of us for some great discounts.... :tink:

We've always gone over our April break, but not necessarily over Easter weekend. I have never paid rack rate, there is always some sort of discount but never seen free dining. We're booked for April 2011 with AAA but keeping an eye out for something better.

Welcome! and thanks for sharing about discounts in the past.. hope we all get something wonderful!!! :)

Hey there...I have an opinion on all of these discounts...personally we're going in May but we were initially looking at the week following Easter.

Anyways, I'm of the opinion that there are no discounts for March, April and May because of the number of bookings already in the system. As we all know, many of us on these boards book room only reservations well in advance because we know if discounts come out we can apply our current reservations to them. That being said I'm betting that there are a lot of people already holding reservations during these times.

The one thing that sticks out like a sore thumb to me is the fact that they're offering free dining over the Memorial day weekend as well as over a Star Wars Weekend but no other time from the beginning of March to mid-August. Something is strange there...why just the one week in the middle of all of that? Could it be possible that the current reservations for that week are much lower than all of the other weeks surrounding it? I'm not buying that at all. My guess is that there will be something else coming for March, April and May but I'm betting that it's not until October at the very earliest.

Keep wishing for the pixie dust everyone!

Bookings are always high during that time.

We've gone over Easter (2004) and spring break(2005) twice. Both trips I booked at rack rate, then switiced over to a discounted rate about a month or so before the trip.

We couldn't pass up the FD for the end of Jan/beginning of Feb, so we've moved our dates! Hope some great discounts come along for all of you!!

I am new to all of this. I don't even know what a discount code is but I know that I want one!!! April 1 - 6th. Can't wait! It will be my two kids first time. As a single mother I need as many discounts as possible. A great thread!

WELCOME! Discount codes are often released to the public (via internet, newspaper, etc.) that allow guests to get discounted packages, room nights, etc. for trips to Disney. I typically find most of my information right here on the DIS but you can always go to the Disneyworld home page on the web and check special offers and see if they apply to your dates. Fingers crossed for some good disocunts... :wizard:

Hi, My name is Mandi and Im new to all this!! Ive never been to WDW before. I have 4 children, 2-8yr old girls (not twins LOL), a 5yr old Boy and a soon to be 1 yr old boy!! We are planning on going April 2nd -8th during our Spring Break!! Any advice would be great. We cant decide on a Hotel or Resort. We are thinking staying 7nights and only going to Magic Kingdom. I got sevral quotes for a hotel about 15mins away and cant decide whats better. I called resorts today.... no package is affordable right now. I got a quote for a 7night stay at a comfort suits for $537 with taxes.... plus add the 386 for our 5 tickets.... total would be around $923. Do you think Id find a better deal? Wed like a resort but not sure we can swing the prices they gave us. With 4 kids there are only 2 resorts they said we can stay at!

Hi Mandi!! I think with your family size you'd probably be better off staying off-site. It's definitely cheaper no matter your family size, there are drawbacks (and pluses) of course, but again with a family of 6 - you'll have SO many more options. Our favorite onsite resort is the Polynesian. It's gorgeous and can accomodate your family size -but expensive, and it sounds like you're trying to keep costs down. Have you looked at pricing for the All Star Family Suite or a Cabin at Fort Wilderness? I think offsite is definitely the cheapest, though. Plus if you have a kitchen, you can cook meals to save as well.

Can I ask why you're thinking of doing just Magic Kingdom. Are you planning to do that all 6/7 days? Or do you have other plans? I think that, as wonderful as the MK is, 6-7 days in a row of it would be a bit much. My kids, personally, LOVE Epcot, almost as much as the MK. DHS and AK are OK, but we wouldn't miss Epcot. We're also big waterpark fans as well.

We have looked into All Stars and its still a little pricey!! We were just going to do MK 1 day. We want to go to Sea World and the beach, down town Disney and enjoy the rest relaxing! We thought about a 2 day pass but kids said Sea World instead. We dont have anything in stone as im just looking around still. Id like to make plans ASAP but wish they had more deals out right now!!

Thanks for the respond!!

Ah, I see - lots of other fun things planned!! Definitely keep watching for discounts. I think those Family Suites are pricey!! Maybe book something offsite with a no-cancel policy (no deposit, just the CC guarantee) and then if Disney offers a great discount, book it!

I'm really hoping for a great April discount, the rack rate prices now are CRAZY!!!

Welcome!! I can only speak for myself that staying on property might be a bit more expensinve, but when you factor in the free Magical Express, and free boat, bus and monorail transportation around the parks - those perks make a big difference in my opinion. Whatever you choose, your trip will surely be very magical!!! :)

ok, I'm hopping over here. I was on the May 2011 code watch but now the band trip has been changed to April. So I'm watching with all of you!:thumbsup2

ahhh we're back to April...I think haha I really wish some more discounts would come out!

onehotmamma--I'm assuming they priced you for the all star family suite when given the on-site price. It's cheaper to get 2 rooms vs a suite (and I don't think you can use the discounts on the suite anyways) so maybe look into that? I think the perks of staying on property are worth it!

We've looked into to everything and staying on site just isnt going to work for us. Although we did find this place and Im wondering if anyone has stayed at the Windsor Palms resort before? They are giving us a AWESOME deal and since theres so much free stuff to do there...... we think it would be worth it!! For 7nights they are charging us with tax and cleaning $620. Its 3BR 3full Bath!! What do you all think? They have pool, movie theater, game room, playground, etc there all for free!!

the marching bands are there from March to May -- and April is prime college spring break time. Could those be the reasons? Plus , lots of schools out Easter week.
