APRIL 2011 - Code Watch!!! Join the PARTY!!

We live in NJ and our spring break is the week before Easter. We are planning on going to Disney starting the Thurs, the 14th, before our break. I hate being on the road during Easter, so we plan on leaving on Friday so we're home by Sat.

I'm in Georgia and our district is April 4-8

My MIL is TX and hers is March 14-18 then they get April 22nd for Good Friday then go back the Tuesday after Easter

Welcome!!! We are waiting right along with you.....

Great airfare!
We fly out of Newark too.. Can I ask what dates you were pricing? We are flexible with our travel dates!!

Thanks for sharing!! :)

I'm sorry, I was looking at all different dates...that great rate was for Nov '10 and early Jan. The rates were much much higher in April sorry.

Ok, getting nervous here. I keep reading about everyone's worries over crowd levels the week before Easter (wk of 4/17/11). I was thinking it wouldn't be all that crowded that week, believing that most schools in the country would be closed the following week. I also googled to see when the Florida State Assessments are, and it looks like they are scheduled during that week. Schools in my area of NY are closed, but that is because they observe the Jewish holidays. What are the school vacations in your area for April?

Our area in Michigan has gone with a set "spring" vacation week for the whole county. The first week in April. Last year it didn't work because it was Easter week, but with Easter being late this year, we are hoping for good luck with a discount and lower crowd levels.

We will see.

That probably did it that way so when you call to add more to your pkg (tix, food, etc) they don't have to cancel your reservation and reissue it since it's booked as a pkg instead of room only. That was my understanding from reading it around here the last couple of days.

We are planning for 4/3-4/9 for parent's 50th anniversary and the rates I was quoted were pretty high for moderate resort--crowd predictors I found rated this as the 14th best week to go, but if disney considers this peak time, we may have to rethink our dates. Any thoughts?

I think every year Disney does peak rates from President's Day till Easter. Because Easter is SO late this year, it's a loooooong stretch of peak rates, over 2 months I think. I know it's going to kill me to see our total package price when we book in a few weeks -we've always gone during regular season. We're going the week after you next year. BUT, I think, and maybe I'm wrong here, but if Disney is going to do ANY discounts during the spring peak period I've gotta think they'll be for your week and my week, and probably early March. Those sound like the least likely weeks for Spring Breaks and are "rated" as having the lowest crowds of the peak period.

yeah we'll be there the 2-7 and the rates were high as well..i'd hope being3 weeks before Easter that there will be some discounts available

Welcome! I'm not an expert on crowds, but I can say that if you get to the parks at rope drop and use fastpasses, it really isn't that bad. And the best part is you are on vacation!!!

Welcome! I believe we are going to try for the 1st week of April as well. I'm pretty flexible on my dates, so I'm waiting for any discounts, etc. to be released before I book.

I booked our trip from April 20th to May 1st :cloud9: as soon as I read that the rates were released :yay: We are staying at the French Quarter  again And tonight, since I just read that the ticket prices are going up on Thursday, I ordered our 10 day park hoppers from Undercover Tourist and saved over $81 :woohoo: Plus by using my Disney Visa, we will earn more money for our redemption card :dance3: Thanks, DISboards :thanks:

I'll be at the Treehouse Villas in Oct 2010, I'm going to wait until then to book for April 2011, hoping I can get a bounceback room only code for April 2011.

when everyone is talking about booking a basic plan, what does that include? i have already booked myroom only reservation, is there anything else i should be doing especially with the ticket increase?

I have basic package reservations for April 9-15! Can't wait !!!

Hello! I believe that you should reserve your tickets before the increase, so that you don't pay the new price. I'm not sure what a basic package is verses a room only. I would call and speak to a reservationist and ask them your quesitons. They should be able to help!

We are staying at our timeshare from April 23-April 30. I was thinking of Booking Disney April 20th-April 23 but now I am wondering if its better to book afterwards: April 30th to May3rd. I am thinking the crowds will be a little smaller.

When I booked the basic package, I only had to pay the $200 deposit as opposed to paying a one night deposit for room only. Then I can call back and add the tickets and dining once package prices are released. This way they don't have to cancel the room reservation and re-book as package.

Hope some discounts come out in the future since we will be there 2 weeks before Easter :)
