April 2011 Check-In

Just booked our very first trip to DL yesterday!

We'll be there (eek) Easter weekend 4/23 - 4/26. Crossing my fingers that isitpacked is wrong. I had no problems finding vacancies at numerous hotels for that time period, but couldn't find much for the last week of March through early April (our Spring Break). Hmmmm....

Any tips/pointers/recommendations would be great. I'm lost and overwhelmed! We have 3 girls 12, 9 1/2, & 7 & a semi-disabled mom.

Can we post our email addy's on here??

I think that weekend the crowds are predicted because of the holiday and the local visitors who don't need hotels. Touringplans has the crowds at 9s and 10s and I have found them very accurate at least for WDW this is the first time using them for DLR. With DLR it seems they have much more local traffic to the parks than WDW. My niece in San Diego starts her school break on Good Friday while we over here in the Northeast have it the week before Easter so we're leaving on Good Friday. It's supposed to be packed while we're there too but there are hotel rooms available lots of places.

I just went through and updated everyone onto the list in the OP. I will try and get ride closures and events listed at some point today. Has anyone discussed any mini meets?

I think someone else might have mentioned it, but Minnie's character meal doesn't last that long unfortunately. The Plaza Inn opens for regular counter service for lunch at noon.

Thanks Bella, we went with Goofy's brunch because I was able to get a noon reservation there.

We're going to Disneyland for the first time April 10-15. We'll be staying at the Disneyland Hotel. We can't wait!:thumbsup2

I don't know if anyone is interested in an early April meet. We could all take the Lillie Belle tour together or grab a dole whip. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Heading back to DLR April 6 and 7 for my 26th bday and my cousins 7th bday. I got my mom a ticket to fly down here- ouch that was painful.

We'll be there 4/22-4/27, so over Easter as well. I honestly expect it to be wall-to-wall people, but eh, what are you going to do? Its a holiday. We do have 5 days in the parks, so I hope that will be enough. We aren't trying to do the big rides, since I'll be escorting my 5 year old around, so I'm hoping it won't be too bad. But even crowded Disney is better than no Disney!

My best advice about crowds is GO EARLY! :thumbsup2

We went to DL during a very busy December holiday weekend last year. We got to the park 30 minutes before park opening everyday. The park is a ghost town before noon. We got plenty done. We focused on rides that typically have long lines without fastpass, picking up fastpasses along the way for later in the day.

It worked great.

Hi Everybody.
8 of us are taking the train to Disneyland April 21-May 1. tired of the rush, rush, headache of flying. we're staying at the Quality inn for something differant as well. usually stay at Fairfield.
Bye Don

We are planning a trip april 25-30 and are staying at the Fairfield...since you have stayed perviously is it as close as it seems? We usually stay at the Carousel or Tropicana.....Also does anyone know it that is a good week to go??/(small crowds and good weather)

I hope you enjoy GK! It's definitely a favorite of mine.

I'm updating the OP right now to get in all the new additions!!

Yes, disney is disney..But for our first trip and the $$ I don't wanna leave in tears!

Marlana, my girls have pretty much outgrown the whole meet/greet/eat with a character. We are staying at the Park Vue :)

 My best advice is to in expecting crowds. Not dreading them, but just expecting them and planning accordingly (knowing to grab FP's and such). That way you can focus more on enjoying the time there and not being stressed about it. I remember my stay for New Year's Eve and I went in expecting the crowds to be horrrrrrible and was pleasantly surprised by how much fun I still had and was able to still get done (which was everything I normally do on a 'regular' day). It's probably easier said than done, but don't let crowds spoil it for you.

We'll be traveling to Disneyland April 14th-April 17th staying in the Grand Calf villas. Then we're taking the 10night Disney Wonder to MR. SO excited!!!
