April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

While I appreciate Hypermommy's enthusiasm, I disagree somewhat with her tactics. [As I duck and cover....]

IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FISH EXTENDER SWAP!!

I won't even have time to think about FE gifts until April 16th, so sign up now, sign up later, WHATEVER!

The more the merrier - if it takes you until a week before the cruise to decide you want to participate - makes no difference to me! :thumbsup2

Hey there... I hope I didn't offend. Such was certainly not my intention. I'm just concerned that I'll not have enough stuff to make folks happy. Not that my stuff is going to be any great thing or whatever.... but I'd feel terrible if someone got left out. That's all I was going for. Again, hope no offense.

:thanks: Thanks to all who offered their thoughts. We're going to talk with the school folks this week and see what comes of it. She is 15, not 17 , a freshman in high school, so we are thinking that maybe this isn't the only opportunity she'll have to participate in this sort of trip. And whatever deceision we reach won't be easy in the end!

So what'd you guys end up doing? Tough decision, for sure, for sure.

Hey Everyone....

This is my families first Disney Cruise! We are DVC members and go to Disney every Spring Break. We have cruised before, just never on the Disney Line..
We are excited and not sure what to expect.
Is Palo recomended? Any suggestions you can offer I would appreciate!

Cant Wait!

Although the final decision hasn't been reached, after talking with the Sargent, it seems that she will have other opportunities to participate in similar trips in later years. They do just the one week-long trip per year, the week of April spring break, so that will have to be kept in mind. Now that she knows she could probably go next year she isn't so desperate to go this year. I'd say the chances are good that she will come with us. Thanks for asking, Denise!

Hey guys,

I just found that I could watch all the episodes of Lost online (not just the current season). I'm about 8 minutes into the pilot and dang! Talk about having an exciting opening!!!! I guess I know what I'll be doing for the next several free hours that I have (which won't probably be until this weekend). So how many season? 7? So I figure 13 eps per season so that's probably about 80 hours of tv I have to watch? Ugh!!! But it sure looks like it'll be good!! :-)

Hi guys, my dw is going to read this thread for the first time today. She wants a little brief info on things like the meet and greet on Sat at 2pm. We have a 9 year old son. Does anyone have kids close in age? I know some do. I've spoken with lilo62. Were can we get family cruise tee's or decals? I'll have her start reading. There are a lot of pages. Lilo62 started this thread right after they built the ship I think :rotfl2:

Too funny!

I had someone ask me this today about going on a Disney Cruise "Is a Disney Cruise good for kids or is it something only for Adults" :rotfl:
She was wondering if her 9 year old would have fun

If there was every a cruise line that kids would have fun on it is Disney!

I'm so glad it worked out for you. I hate when monkey wrench's get thrown in when something has been planned for so long and with much enthusiasm.

Pacdaddy- welcome and we have a nine year old son who is very social and the life of the party. He is very excited for the cruise and the kids club. I'm sure they will meet up.

Looking for advice on another planning issue: Our flight doesn't leave until 9pm on disembarkation day, we would like to do AK but don't know what to do with our luggage-don't want to leave everything in the car. Any ideas or experiences?
Thanks

as usual I am being corrected by my dw. She wants me to tell everyone that we also have two dd that are 3 and 18 mo. and are very excited. This is our 3rd cruise our son was almost 3 on our first, 6 on our second and our 3 yr. old was only 4 mo. so she will love this trip! Our 18 mo. old has been to the parks at 7 mo. and this will be her first cruise. We can't wait.

Welcome fellow Long Islander:) We have family in Holbrook. Did you book your flights yet. We are doing Southwest out of Islip on the 18th.

I'll bet a lot of you New Yawkahs are gonna be on similar flights. Wish I could be at the airport to give y'all a big ol' Southern welcome and hug!!!! Guess that'll have to wait 'til Fishlips, eh?

Oh, guess what, guess what, guess what! I got my formal picked out and bought. It's undergoing alterations now. It's a beautiful sage/celedon color (I was calling it puke green but all of my feminine friends told me I had to stop that). It's very pretty up top witha bodice that draws attention away from the size of my tummy. But the best part is that a coworker friend is going to loan me her daughter's crinoline slip so at the bottom of the dress it's probably at least 3 feet from side to side, if not more. I will definintely look the part of the princess, especially with the tiara I'm going to wear and the other jewelry. Hey... the last time I dressed up like this was 1991 when I got married so I figure every 15 years or so I can splurge, huh?

Congratulations :cool1: I'm hoping that the dressy dress I bought last year for a wedding still fits:scared: I really, really need to start that diet:sad2:

We are also flying the 18th sw at 9:40am ariving 12:20 Thats funny.

We got the later flight. 2:50 arriving at 6:00. Didn't want the kids to miss any school time. Middle school is a real pain in the _ _ _

I missed that morning the tickets went on sale for Southwest, so we had to
take what we could get. Sachem will have off if we don't use snow days :)

Have you ever used long term parking there at Islip Airport?

No, we have actually never flown on Southwest before or gone out of MacArthur Airport. We usually fly JetBlue out of JFK but their airfare was ridiculous for Spring Break. My brother-in-law is just going to drop us off and pick us up. How much was your airfare, if you don't mind me asking. I booked the minute they opened and got $295 rt. More than I wanted to pay but $400 less than Jet Blue. The flights are sold out for that day so I assume there will be no dings either. I wish our school district was off too. Probably would have spent the day at Disney then.
