April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

How about an official note from Mickey Mouse welcoming young Tyler to the brotherhood? I've got some ideas -- something like a diploma but on special Mickey pirate paper (I think it came from the pirate night menu). Let me know if you're interested and I'll put something together.

I would greatly appreciate it - you know I love ya! :cool1: Thanks. No rush, I know your busy!

Hello all,

If you think you'll be participating in the Fish Extender Exchange, please make sure you have let Joan know so the spreadsheet can reflect the correct numbers

Okay, yeah.... so perhaps that size letter was a bit overboard. But I would hate one of the babies (yes, even the teenaged ones) to think that they'll be getting circey's (presents) and then not get them becuase they hadn't signed up and I didn't get enough for them.  I'm sure there are other folks out there that don't want the babies' feelings hurt too. (I can't be the only mommy with hyper feelings towards the kids out here :rotfl2: :rotfl2: ).

What, I can't hear you!? Your so - :crazy2:

Hi all!!

I have a question about the yankee swap...

My daughter would like to be a part of the yankee swap but can she give out something to another female teen?? could this be done or does she have to give something out created for either sex?? The day we exchange the swap,
where and when will this be done???

YES, she can bring a gift that is for a teen girl. Just make sure she indicates that on the package somewhere so that we won't have a teen boy getting it..........oh, wait a minute, that's part of the fun of a Yankee Swap isn't it???:rotfl2:

The swap is at our meet - 2 PM on Saturday in the Promenade Lounge

I never really noticed. My dd trades, but it seemed like on board you tend to forget about doing that. You might as well bring it though because I'm sure there are alot of people that have theirs with them!
Thanks again for the speedy graphics! I love them!!
Colleen

The CMs all seem to trade a lot on the cruise. We've found that they will ask the kids to trade instead of the kids having to approach them. There was a lot of trading going on with the officers at the Captain's cocktail party last time we were onboard. They all had on their lanyards with their dress uniforms. My DD ran back to the cabin to get hers when she saw what was going on. She got a couple interesting pins that night. There is also "Pin Trading" listed in the Navigators but we've never attended, so I don't know how popular that is.

I can just see Denise now - fancy gown, fancy hairdo, drink in one hand and pins everywhere! :rotfl:

Pin Trading - Pins run the same as the do in the Park usually $6.00 and up. Keep in mind that if the virus threat level is high they will not be doing pin trading onboad. If they don't have the trading at first and the threat level drops they will start it at the end of the cruise. Last April - buffets and drink station were not self service due to high threat level of the virus. That last about 2 to 3 days then everything was back to self service. The lines move very slowly when the cast members have to serve everyone in the buffet and at the drink station.

I just got back from Naples, Fl. The weather was great and I missed last week snowstorm! Now I have to go back and catch up on the thread to see what I missed.

Got another magnet done this morning.....

formal_night.jpg

Love your magnet! Make sure you put your stateroom number on the back of anything you hang on your door. That way if someone who has nothing better to do takes it and moves it(unfortunately this happens)The guest in the cabin who your magnet ends up on may bring it back if they know were it goes.

No... I'm so old I was in bed by 6:30.

Now I have to go google up Johnny Depp at the Oscars. :lmao: What was he up for? Sweeny Todd, right? Did he win?

He was and sadly did NOT win. I don't know what his peers were thinking! ;)

Did anyone want a T-Shirt done...? I will need to know soon, as I must pick up the transfer kit, and shirts.

Hi everyone!! My boyfriend and I just booked ourselves for the April 19th cruise and we are soooo excited. This will be our first cruise. We are HUGE Disney fans. We will both be 21 by the time of the cruise and have no kids. I will be flying in from Texas and he from New Jersey. We just booked this week so we don't have a lot of time so I'm doing as much research as I can before then. Any suggestions for first timers will be greatly appreciated. Can't wait to see everybody! :)

Hello everyone :dance3:

Thanks :)

Speak for yourself, Dave :rotfl2: :jumping1:

Welcome ScarletSue,:wave2: you're going to have a great time! We know everything there is to know about cruising Disney::MinnieMo (or at least we like to pretend we do!)
We hope that you'll join in on some of our activities - read back and see what we've got planned. Ask us if anything seems confusing or unclear. We've been posting for so long even we forget what we're talking about sometimes! What cabin are you in?

I will need to verify...
The shirts have to be lite in color... Preferrably white for what we are doing.
I will check on VNeck availability.

Hey there, hi there, ho there, fellow cruisers!

They put out a memo at work the other day about, among other things, use of the internet at work. So I guess I'd better be good and not go online at work. Ugh! Now I really need an unlimited data plan for my phone. This is like trying to hold my breath for eight hours at a time. :rotfl2:

Yogibigdog - thanks for the advice. Yes, I plan to put my stateroom number on every magnet. I've made some that I'm quite proud of and I hope they don't walk off. But with the number on them, if they do, I can at least check the back of the magnet if I see them on other doors.

Lilo - I haven't seen Sweeny Todd yet and don't even know what actors were up for best actor but I know Depp's caliber of work. It's a shame that he doesn't win, but then again, many deserving never did. I think Pacino or somebody was up like five times before he won? It's just a popularity contest sometimes.

ScarlettSue -- :welcome: I hope you have some time to read back on the list and catch up to everything that's going on. We're quite an active group (some might even say crazy but that might be more a self-reflection :rotfl: ). Have you had a chance to read back about the spreadsheet and the hyperlist? Basically, Joan is keeping a spreadsheet that details things like when folks are arriving, where they're staying the night before the cruise, who's joining us at a restaurant called Fishlips for dinner the night before the cruise, who's particpating in the fish extender exchange and yankee swap (both of which are explained somewhere on this thread), etc. Then I'm keeping up with the hyperlist which is about who has what excursions planned when so you'll know if you're going to be doing an excursion with your DISer friends. It also lists Palo resssies and spa ressies. I would highly recommend you grab a cup of coffee, sit down and start back about a dozen pages or so and just read your way forward. Then, let us know what you'll be participating in (for the spreadsheet) and what your excursions and ressies are (for the hyperlist) so we can get you added. Oh, and again, :welcome:

Denise(MSDisney53) - :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I wouldn't yell... although I might have to figure out a way to give someone that "mommy look" online. But not you, of course. Nothing you do is wrong since you have the right name :cool1: :lmao: :cool1: :lmao:

DisneyDavO - "Buckle up, some folks on here are CRAZY!!!!" --> now just who might you be referring to, sir? I think everyone on this thread is a cool and calm model of sedateness, don't you? :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Well, I finally found a formal!! And it's only going to be $50. Now I have to get out to eBay and find the crinoline for underneath it. A girlfriend of mine who is in SCA said I should be able to find it on there for $20. And a tiara... I need a tiara. I don't care if it looks stupid or not... formal nigh is my birthday and I'm going to be a princess head to toe. :cool1: Besides, the only other time I've ever gotten this gussied up was my wedding (1991) and proms (1983 and 1984). But boy this is doing a number on my psyche.... me... ME.. being all feminine and shopping for dresses and feminine undergarments and the like.... ME - who is such a tomboy!!! :scared1:

But other good news... my boss was a pirate for Halloween and when he and the wife do something they do it up right! (and have the financial resources to do so). So I have the pirate shirt and vest and belt and sword and dreadlocks and everything for DH now. He's going to be a smashing pirate!!!! :cool1:  :cool1:

Okay, I guess I'd best go to getting my site updated with news. Can't do that at work either. Boy, I really need to look into getting an unlimited data plan for my phone :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Thanks Joan for adding me to list.

ScarlettSue-I just joined in too. Welcome. We're from NJ too, where and when are you flying from? We will be in Disney before the cruise and then going back late 4/26 to Atlantic City.

To everyone, you guys are amazing. We will be the lame ones on the cruise as all we will have is the Disney "Happy Birthday" magnet on our door, but I look foward to seeing everybodyelse's. They look like they are going to be great.

I am spending all my time trying to book and plan our two days at WDW before cruise. Apparently it is going to be crowded, as I have been trying for 2 weeks to book a monorail room and finally today got Poly:banana: .

Question for experienced cruisers-do the beaches at Grand Cayman have stands where you can rent snorkeling vests? We have our own equipment, but my youngest is not a great swimmer and I will need one for her. We will just be going to the beach ourselves, no excursion.

That reminds me, if anyone needs snorkeling equipment, Costco has US Divers sets with carry bag for kids and adults. On other threads people seem happy with them and my kids tried them out and they worked well. Will be much better than the rented equpment(and sanitary)

If anyone is looking for car rental, I booked a minivan with Avis to return to MCO for 59.00 with code K199060 from mousesavers. When I called Avis directly in Cape Canaveral as Shirley recommends, Jeremy told me this was great and to keep it as they couldn't do better than that. I am happy we can use Avis as Shirley speaks so highly of them.

That's all for now, hope this can help someone. Have appreciated all the info I've received from the thread and can't wait to meet everyone. Off to the gym so I might fit into my formal dress and bathing suits.

:welcome: to all the newbies!

crazed'boutmaryP: I've been to 7 mile beach on the last cruise (went on our own and not thru an excursion). DH is the snorkler not me - and he has his own equip. There were no snorkel rentals along the beach which I thought was odd but then it dawned on me that there are all hotels along the strip and they probably have the equip rental thru the hotel for their guests. The only snorkel stand if you will is a place called Eden Rock which is very close to where the ship docks. You make a right and just walk down the street and it's off to the right. DH likes this snorkeling hole - it's tame and there's even a small "beach" to rent chairs and relax. Hope this helps.

Cinderella1219 - Palo's is HIGHLY recommended. I tried to get in for the brunch in January and it was already sold out. I believe the dinner ressies are gone as well. I will say this may be applicable to on-line ressies only. They do hold a few spots open so you have a chance to book on board. My advice is when you board the ship, have your DH stay with the kids and you go and see what's avail. It works! Hope this helps you too! We live in CT also but closer to the Westchester county area. What is New Fairfield near? Danbury?

Hypermommy Denise - I didn't see Sweeny Todd either. Getting DH to go was just NOT an option. I think if they make any more Pirates movies, he's not going to wanna go either. I don't think he wants to see me drool! :rotfl:

Looking forward to meeting you all!

lilo62-Is Eden Rock a snorkeling beach too? Thanks for the info

Cinderella1219-Welcome and its our first Disney Cruise too and first cruise for my kids. Lots of info here and on the disboards that have helped me.
