April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

We haven't booked our flights yet or decided what we are doing before and maybe after the cruise. We have done Cocoa Beach the last 3 times and loved it with a stop for lunch at Beaches and Cream but it's been awhile since we've been to Disney so we're thinking a day before and after the cruise is what we need.DH isn't happy with that so we have to work on that.

Denise

Have you ever done the Kennedy Space Center? We were thinking of doing that the day before but I don'e want my DD 8 and DS 6 to be bored.

Hi all. We have been in Florida on a :sad1: :sad1: NON-Disney:sad1: vacation visiting relatives for the past week and I never got to a computer. But when I got back home to NY and was waiting for our luggage I saw/met some fellow DISers. They had the lime green mickey head on their luggage.

Hello to everyone. Thanks for doing the spreadsheet Joan. It looks great. It is nice to see all that info all in one place. Other interesting things to add (if you are so inclinded...but not necessary...and it is just a suggestion..cause I am not doing it....and I certainly don't want to appear bossy or as take charge person, although DH would say that I can be at times...but this isn't the time...but I am rambling...and I will have to admit to doing that...just read my posts!!!!)...a special celebration column, like 10th wedding anniversary, 40th birthday, family reunion etc..and a seating time column, you know early or late. But like I said...just a suggestion!

And also I am VERY SORRY about all the spreadsheet confusion. It seems I may have started it with thanking Joan for volunteering. I just following up on something Joan had said way back on page 15.

I'm pretty proficient in Excel and have the program. I can work on that, no problem. :surfweb: I'll go back on the tread and gather as much info. as I can. I'll just be asking everyone to fill in the blanks!

Joan: regarding the dune buggy tours...we are doing it on our own...not with Disney..since Emily can't go on the Disney sponsored one...I have found that the cruise line tends to be more conservative with the age restrictions...another example of this is with the Disney Jetski rentals I think you have to be 10 as well. Our daughter had jetskied in the past when she was 4 and then again when she was 5 so we rented them privately on our last cruise. Join us. It would be very fun to do it with someone else we know.

Good night all!
Michelle

Well, I know I haven't been on the board much lately. My life completely turned around during the month of June. My husband went to work one morning and was told that it was his last day. The company was letting about half of their staff go because they had run out of money. We were starting to feel like something was going on, but they kept assuring him that things would work out. They did continue to pay him through the end of June while he was job hunting.

After sending hundreds of resumes out, he got a call an offer for a great job. After much consideration and thought, he decided to take it. However, we will not be able to go on the cruise and have had to cancel it. The good news is that the job is in Germany and we will be touring Europe for the next few years. My husband flew out today and I will be following in August. We are all excited and looking forward to it. Of course, we will take another Disney cruise as soon as we return.

Have fun, sorry I won't get to meet any of you,
Carrie

Carrie: :sad1: Sorry we won't be seeing you. Things always popup when you least expect it. Sounds like you've been through a lot! It's good things are looking up now! Don't worry, maybe we'll be seeing you on a future Disney Cruise. Take care and good luck in Europe!:wave2:

Michelle: your suggestions for the spreadsheet are great!

I'll add a seating column and special celebration column - I'll need everyone to PM me with their information!

Also, tell me what Dune Buggy Tour and jetski rental place your using. It's funny, my DH was totally bummed that he couldn't take the kids because of their age. Now, he'll be so thrilled! :goodvibes

Hello Carrie
So sorry to hear you can´t go on the cruise but wonderful that your husband has got another job so quick.
Where in Germany will you end up?We are in Bielefeld, maybe you will be somewhere close. If you have any questions or if I can be of any help, please feel free to contact me.
Everybody else, have a great weekend and take care

Joan: The dune buggy excursion is at this link http://cozumelcruiseexcursions.com/CozumelDuneBuggyTour.htm

I believe the price is the same as the disney one. Haven't figured out if we are going to need transportation to get to the start point..but I have time to figure that out..and there are cabs everywhere. It does sound like a lot of fun! The jetski rental I was referring to was on our last cruise in St. Maarten. But I am sure there will be jet ski rentals in any of the places we go. I am thinking we might do that on the beach at Grand Cayman. Most beaches have them..cause tourists = money. We paid 90 dollars for 2 waverunners for 1/2 hour...which really was plenty. My daughter sat with my husband in front of him. Unfortunately, she curbed his need for speed that day...lot of splashing in the face and she didn't have sunglasses on.

Also thanks for not thinking I was being bossy or ungrateful with the spreadsheet thing...oh and if you don't mind...ok, here I go again with a suggestion..While I was awake in bed last night unable to sleep at 2am I thought of adding others...an arriving date, a 4/18 GRILLS meet column which would be a yes or no answer and a group Palo ressie (don't have date yet though) column which would also be a yes or a no. As we get closer to the cruise, I will spearhead the Grills dinner ressie for the friday before 4/18 and I will also do the Palo group brunch too.

Carrie: good luck  in your new home. Although it must have been nerve wracking to say the least (my dh lost his job 5 months after we bought our first house) it sounds like it will provide you and your family with a wonderful experience. Hey, you can do the MED cruise without airfare if they are there next summer! How cool would that be!:thumbsup2

When can prior cruise passengers make reservations for spa, excursions etc...

Have a nice day. It is a beautiful day in NY and I am stuck inside doing catch up with vacation laundry and grocery shopping:confused3 Oh well.

Michelle

Joan; we did Kennedy space Center when my DDs were younger but made the mistake of doing it after the cruise. They were miserable, tired and cranky, so as long as you do it before I think the kids would enjoy it. It was pretty cool.

Michelle; We rented Wave runners in Grand Cayman at Seven Mile Beach.

Our group may be growing. we may have another family joining us

Denise :beach:

Joan,
The linky doesn't work.
It brings you to a generic spreadsheet page.

Carrie,
Sorry to hear, and congrats on the new job so soon.
Hope you have better luck selling your house than I'm having.
Has been on the market for about 4.5 months with not a single offer.

Jeff

Now it works.Great job.
My Info:Early Dinner,Arrival 4/16,´Palo yes,Grills yes.And I will celebrate my 41 Birthday on the day of disembarkation.

Have a great weekend everybody

Joan,
you did such a great job. Thanks again. We were early seating, but now have changed to late. We are flying in on the 18th and will be at Grills. No special occasions, and of course yes to Palo. Are we planning a group brunch there? Is that what the Palo column is for? I am assuming it would be on a day at sea? :thumbsup2

Hey Joan, the spreadsheet is great! It actually inspired me to do one for our...SSSSHHHH...it is a surprise..trip to WDW during September. I had no idea that google had a program to do it! Thanks.

I thought I could add/revise my own info to save you the trouble...but I was unable...if it is possible, please put me in the right direction and I will be happy to do so. If it is not possible, here is my info

Late Seating
4/18 arrival
Yes to Grills and Palo
No special occassion
and I think our cabin is 2611, I will have to double check..I know we are almost right across from Anty.

Anty: Yes, the Palo column is for a group brunch. I think it maybe limited to a certain number..I will have to call and double check how that works..

I forget when returning passengers can make ressies for palo, spa, excursions etc...is it 90 days? I am confused since I have been doing things for WDW and their time line for advance ressies is certainly more giving. Anybody remember..I am thinking 90 days for returning and 75 for first timers...Am on on target?

I will spearhead the Grills Pre-cruise dinner meet for 4/18 and do the Palo group brunch ressie as well.

Have a great weekend all.
Michelle

Ooops.I didn´t realize the Palo Colum was for the Group brunch.
Then it will be a NO for us.We did the Brunch on our first 2Cruises and were not planning on doing it this time. We´ll be trying the DInner instead.
Hope,i didn´t cause too much trouble.
Take care
Conny:)

I think it is 75 days for returnies and 90 for 1st timers. Repeaters get first dibs.:cool1:

Wdhinn89: I thought those were the amount of days....but wouldn't it be the other away around?

90 days before the cruise for repeaters and 75 days before the cruise for newbies...that way repeaters would get first dibs...right?!? Or is my brain on summer mush mode?

No it's mine that is on mush mode. You are right.

I even read it over twice:confused3 :lmao:
