April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

The other room for my other party is 6083...
I will reprint the FE list for everyone, and give it out at the Dis Meet
at the lounge on Saturday 2pm.

I'M GETTING SO NERVOUS, I HOPE I DON'T FORGET ANYTHING!

And if you do, I'm sure one of us will have something you can use. We're friends, remember? And friends help each other out.

I think the Cayfest ends on April 19th :sad1: We'll just have to make our own party :woohoo: :dancer: :woohoo: :drinking1 :woohoo:

EDIT: MAYBE NOT, I JUST FOUND A DIFFERENT WEBSITE THAT HAD DIFFERENT DATES. MAYBE I WAS LOOKING AT 2007. I NEED A VACATION!!!!!!!!!
Diane

Yeah, I was worried about that this morning. The first site I just googled up this morning said it ended on the 19th. So I went back to the email I'd sent hubby earlier when I told him about it and copied the links from there. Glad to hear I'm not totally losing my mind (yet).

We leave in 1 week and all of a sudden I feel completely overwhelmed :scared1: I keep thinking of all the little things I still need to do. Taking my son for a new suit today. :scared: The good thing is he can use it again in 2 months for graduation. He sprained his ankle last night playing soccer and he is limping around. He says he thinks it is broken but it is not swollen and he can put weight on it so I don't think so. I'll see how he does in school today :sad2: My husband is redoing the bathroom now because he has sinus surgery on May 5th and we want to get it done before then, but anything that can possibly go wrong is happening :sad2: Boy, I really need to get away!!

Looks like we definately need to get our DS together. Hopefully, his ankle will feel better today. NO CAST for my DS and its raining here for the next two days, which means no baseball or soccer or lacrosse for all three kids:yay: and we leave on Wednesday...Hopefully everyone will stay safe. Going out with the girls tonight, may start the Bahama Mama's a little early....I need it!!!:rotfl:

I keep buying stuff, boy this cruise is getting expensive. I had to go out and buy more fish extender stuff. What I did for that is put everything in snack size baggies and added a label.

And I still need my eyebrows waxed, pedicure and a manicure! And, of course, if I get a pedicure, my DD wants one too! My husbands going to ban me from leaving the house! We're not even allowed to eat out until the cruise!

See, see, KC... it's not just me! :rotfl:

I like the snack baggie idea. Think I'll have to run to Walmart and get some of those. Oh yeah... and while I'm there I might as well look at the summer clothes again

Hi all,

I've been reading but haven't contributed in awhile. I've been too busy taking care of all the little details (suction cups with hooks for bathroom, magnetic white board for door, multiple sized ziploc bags, over-the-door organizers, etc., etc.). Yes, I am very much a planaholic!

Can I ask some of the Castaway Cay members (or anyone else) what the dress code is like for dinner? I've heard different things. In passporter, they say no shorts, t-shirts, or jeans at dinner. Yet, to me resort casual includes shorts, especially on hot days. What does everyone recommend?
I can't imagine changing my kids out of shorts for dinner if it's not a formal or semi-formal night...

Also, can you tell me if there is a major difference between formal and semi-formal night? I plan to wear the same suit and just change my shirt and tie (for packing reasons). I have three girls (4, 7 & 10) and I'm wondering what kids (especially girls) wear to these dinners?

One last question, then I'll go back into hiding :-). Weren't we all supposed to go to Home Depot or somewhere to pick up some lime green paper to make name tags? I think I remember something like that discussed many, many months ago. If I missed something, how are we going to identify ourselves to each other on the ship?

Thanks,

Frank

As for the dress, it's YOUR vacation, dress how YOU want to.
Last year, I dressed in pants and golf shirts for dinner.
On semi and formal night, I put on a button up shirt, but no tie and no jacket.
I was more casual, but a bit dressier then the prior days.
Most people do dress up for both formal and semi night, but it's not like they are going to tell you to leave....
Last year, there was a family with party shorts and shirts on during formal night dinner. No biggie as far as I'm concerned.
This year I'll be dressing the same, casual every night (even at palo)

I see it as a trade off because I went all out on pirate night as you can see below. :)

All the dining rooms say "no shorts" for dinner. That being said, you will see a few people here and there wearing shorts. I've never seen anyone turned away. What my DH does is to wear khakis with a golf shirt or short sleeve shirt (not a t-shirt) for dinner and then go right back to his shorts after dinner. We did the same for our sons when they were younger and could go with us, (they're now in college). Our DDs wear capris, a skirt or a sundress, never shorts to dinner They also change many nights before heading out for their evening activities.

On formal and semi formal nights you'll see it all - tuxes, suits, sportcoats, golf shirts , gowns, dresses, sundresses - everything goes, I guess!

I thought someone was doing Mickey ear or Shower's of Happiness Cruise name tags, am I wrong?

-Joan

This would be SO MUCH better than my run-of-the-mill "Hello My Name Is" tags from Staples. Is anyone doing this or is it just a dream of ours???? If no one is doing it already, could someone do it???

I have to disagree about the casualness of formal night but only becuase it's such a big occasion for me. I'm really feeling the excitement I did as I headed towards the prom and even more so becuase now I'm with the true love of my life (and old enough to know what that really is). So I think it enhances everyone else's formal night if everyone were to make the effort to dress at least dressy and not casual.

Then again, my plan for a pirate costume for me fell through (although the guys are gonna look great) so you'll probably feel the same way about me on pirate night. Please just don't make me walk the plank. :rotfl:

I thought I remembered that too. Wish I did have time to go get them. I've got bunches of Mickey tags from Home Depot left over (remember my door?) but they're not all Dis green. I could bring them if you think I should. (King Charming... you're at home when reading this board... I'm often not. If I smile really sweetly would you get them off the old entertainment center up there near your pepsis and put them with our cruise stuff just in case we need them, please, please, please?)

Everyone should go to Home D and get the green Mickey paint chip. I took a whole packet in case anyone needs them onboard. :thumbsup2
Anyway, I had a friend make 4 pins with mine. I just wrote our names on them and then she made the pins. I have seen people do all kinds of interesting, crafty things with them. Last time we cruised I just punched a hole in them and hung them on our luggage and on our lanyards. Be creative, have fun. :yay:

I am heading to Mohegan Sun tomorrow for 1 night. Taking DD to see Avril Lavigne. I dont know what I was thinking getting tickets and doing an overnight so close to vaca. I am tired and have not even done a darn thing to get ready for this cruise. I do have our passports and filled out our online paperwork though. I told DD last night that I hope her bathing suits fit because we have no time to get new ones now. :hourglass
We both also need manicures and pedicures. I am working mon-thursday. Leave Friday am. :sad2:

I feel overwhelmed. :scared: I NEED a cocktail, or two!!!!!
Ant

The only thing about using the Mickey heads is that we'd need tape, too. At least the regular name tags would stick. I could get a roll of masking tape?

Or 3 or 4!!! :rotfl:

So how did your friend make the pins? That sounds like it might be cool. I put the green dishead on the front of our SoH shirts but it'd be kind of fun to wear it around other days too.

Maybe we should staple the kids nametags to them? :cool1: :rotfl:

Nahhhhh... might be misconstrued, eh?
