April 18, 2010 - 4 night Wonder

This time next Sunday I will be chomping at the bit to get on the road headed to Port Canaveral as we will have about a two hour drive from Tavares, Florida to the port. At least the traffic should be light with it being early Sunday morning!!! :goodvibes

We now have piles of clothes starting to build as DW is busy with her packing list. The suitcases will be coming out in a few days!!! It won't be long now folks!!! :goodvibes
This time next week, I will be herding the kids to the airport to catch the DCL shuttle to get to the port.....does anybody know what time it leaves Orlando Intl.? I need to start packing TODAY!

Sorry, I can't help with this one, we have never used the DCL shuttle to get to the port from MCO.

Carrie--I was trying to do some research for you about the shuttle. I believe I read the shuttles start taking people to the port, from the Orlando Airport around 9:30am.

You are correct Andy - we've done the shuttle from MCO a couple of times, and they start leaving between 9:00 and 9:30. As one bus fills up and leaves, another one pulls in and starts loading. The best idea is to get to the airport early so you don't end up waiting in what can sometimes be a very long line a little later in the morning (got caught in that one time - not fun).

Plus, I've been reading lately that if you are at the checkin desk by 8:30, you can check in there for your cruise so you don't have to wait in line at the port. Not sure if they'll be doing that for our cruise, but it might be worth trying.

Carrie - make sure you have your DCL luggage tags on your bags when you go back to the airport. The last couple of times we've used the shuttle, they had us take our luggage to another drop off point (50 - 75 feet from the bus) and they loaded them onto a truck, instead of loading them on the bus and having to deal with them when we got to the port.

I am glad we don't have to get up early this cruise. Since we're staying at the Residence Inn at the port, we'll just roll out of bed, grab some breakfast and head over to the terminal. :thumbsup2

Thanks Andy and Ed! I really appreciate the info:thumbsup2 Now I need to print out directions to and from our hotel to Downtown Disney. I called the T-Rex restaurant and made reservations for dinner the 17th, I am hoping that the kids really enjoy this, I think it will be great fun :goodvibes

Bryan just stopped by to pick Angelina up on his way home from work, when he came in I said to him, "This time next week we will be at the muster drill." He just smiled :) and said, "I can't wait!!!"

You're welcome.

It's a pretty easy ride to DTD from the airport area. Be prepared for toll booths on 528 (I think there are three between the airport and I-4), one right after you get on 528, another one a few miles later and then one more before you get to the I-4 exits. I don't remember the exact amounts, but I think it was around a dollar or so at each one. Just keep a few dollar bills handy, and you'll be all set.

I've been in packing mode tonight!! I will admit that I am probably overpacking so some of it will probably come out of the suitcases last minute. It's our first cruise and don't know exactly what to expect and we will be doing a couple of days at WDW too.

I have a 7 year old DD too! So glad to see there are already a few that will be on board. We also have a 10 yr. old DS.

I made our matching t-shirts today! It was my first attempt and am very happy with them! I only did one set this time around. If you see a family with camouflage mickey shirts on - that's probably us! It's our pre-deployment cruise. :( I did our door magnets last week!

Soo excited!!!! :woohoo:

I did our door magnets....they do look quite amateur, but we had a lot of fun, so I s'pose that makes them that much nicer!!! I didn't think about matching tees, hmmmm....I have a 9yr old DS and an 11yr old DS, they will be thrilled to know that there are definitely other boys their age on board!

great, I thought the route looked pretty straight forward, it's good to know ahead of time that there are tolls so that I will be ready for them. I tend to be nervous when driving around unknown places, so the more prepared I am, the better I will feel.

Yay!!!!!! The Wonder looks so handsome!!!

Carrie,

As a man, I'm not sure I could get away with calling a woman handsome........ :rolleyes1 ships are almost always referred to as feminine. So....... I would say...... she's beautiful, just like her sister the Magic! ;)

Ok folks, we're really getting close and I know some people are heading to Florida at different times this week. I have info for the DISmeet list from the following DISers: Verandah Man, CherylA, RachelQ, LovingMyKids, McDisney6, rsbeacon, Nightowl78 and KarenFL.

If anyone else wants me to add info to the list, please send me a PM or email (ersimpson@charter.net) with first names, ages of kids and anything else (special occasions, celebrations, etc.) that you would like me to include on the list. If you send email, please include your DIS name.

Thanks, and wishing everyone a safe trip.

See you all in only SIX days!!!!
