April 17, 2011 on the Dream

:scared1: Yikes! We were hoping to do HRH for 3 nights after the cruise. We need 2 rooms to fit us all. That's way beyond the budget. Offsite is looking likely.

Do you think US/IoA will be really crowded since its Easter weekend? I thought less so than WDW, but I'm not sure with Harry Potter.

We were thinking of doing Universal before this 4 night cruise but after peeking over on the US board here, decided not too unless we got the FOTLP and paid for the extra money for the hotel. We are so used to going to WDW off season, I think my kids would die being in a huge crowd. :scared1: One positive that might offset next year is Easter is really late... and it appears many people have spring break earlier ??? not sure if that will "help" with crowds or not.

I would imagine that everywhere is going to be busier than usual due to it being Easter weekend. I know that our school vacation is that week...that hasn't happened over holy week for a very long time. I would expect there to be a ton of people from Mass down there at this time.
I may just have to bite the bullet and book HRH or Royal Pacific for the one night and then move over to WDW for the last two nights...I love the Flower and Garden time at WDW.

Hello everyone, Just found this message board and my family of 5 (which includes three 11 year olds!) is booked on the April 17, 2011 Dream as well!! Looking forward to it!!

:welcome: dmdietz! 3 Eleven year-olds? You didn't use the words triplets, I see. Are they DS's or DD's? I'll have 2 DS's in the tween area. Is this your first Disney cruise?

I wanted to do US/IoA after the cruise as well..but not at the prices US wants for it's resort rooms. I had considered paying for HRC for one night...Thursday off the boat..and then having FoTL ability but I'm just not sure it's going to be worth it. Ah well...decisions, decisions.

Even the Doubletree at the entrance is starting off with $199 a night for after the cruise. I know they have a business relationship with the Dis, but with Harry Potter the price could stay up there!

I'm thinking of either staying on Disney or trying Gaylord or Sheraton Vistana (I've always wanted to try those 2 but couldn't get the kids to agree).

They say on the Universal board that Front of the Line for Harry Potter just means a separate wait line for Hotel guests and maybe nothing at all for the express pass, so I'm thinking: stay at Disney, buy a express pass for one day for all the other rides, and pay for parking.

Pershing,
Yes they are triplets and we have 2 DS and 1 DD. This is our second Disney Cruise, we sailed in Nov, 07 on the Wonder and loved it. We are thinking of doing Universal after the cruise, any suggestions????

Welcome aboard

For everyone thinking of either WDW or US/IOA after the cruise, both places are going to be busy since it is the week before Easter. Also, hotels are going to be more expensive onsite at both locations.

Hopefully since Easter is so late that the crowds won't be quite as bad at WDW as they were this past April, the week before Easter. That week MK had to close, due to capacity, for all guests not staying on property several days - it was only left open for onsite guest and annual passholders. MK was the only park that I heard that was closed due to capacity that week.
We typically avoid MK the week after Easter and go to Epcot and the Studios.

We are booked on the April 17, 2011 cruise on the Dream. This will be our first Disney cruise. My aunt and uncle went for the first time this past March and loved it. So here we come! I am traveling with my DH,
DS(14), DS(10), and DD(6). My parents will be joining us as well as my aunt and uncle and their two children, 7 & 10.

Can't wait!

Welcome aboard dmdietz. :)

Are your children on the New England school vacation that week too?

I have a daughter who will be 13 and in the tween club. Some of the parents of tweens are trying to set up a way for our kids to chat and possibly get to know each other before the cruise.

I just checked the DCL site and this cruise is no longer listed. I guess it has sold out

How many people were you checking for and if you included kids what ages? I found that makes a difference when looking for this cruise.
It's still coming up for 2 adults and 1 teen, but only cat. 4A - 5D are available. For booking 2 adults and 2 teens there are only 3 cats. available - 4A, 4B and 5A. For 2 adults and 3 teens only cat. 4A and 4B are available.

I suspect it's just full for the younger kids age groups.

I did a search for 3 adults and 1 2yo. The cruise wasn't listed. That's true that they only allow so many children of a certain age group on board. Phew, I'm glad I booked when I did! :thumbsup2

Sounds like the teens are in the minority on this sailing since there is still room for them on the ship and not the younger kids.
There's going to be lots of disappointed people with younger kids when they look into this sailing and it's not available for them.

My DD will be 14 on this upcoming cruise. At 13 she really was a bit intimidated and not ready for the teen program which mostly had 15 & 16 year olds. Plus her brother is 23 months younger than her and she felt "safer" around him and his group. I think it is a great idea to try and get some of the kids together on-line before the cruise for this reason. However, since they have such a cool new club on the Dream I am wondering if this will cancel out such hesitation. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I think the new teen area will be great for those hesitant to go. It's great they will now have an outside area to hang out at, that's what my DD is looking forward to there.
