Looking for some insight into the week of April 16-24, 2022. I know Easter is on the 17th, but I'm not sure if that means the week following will be super crowded still as I usually hear people talk about the week before Easter. We were planning a trip the first part of December, but there is a good chance I will be getting a full time teaching position which means I won't be able to take that time off. This is why we are looking at this week in April as it is my Spring Break. My elderly parents will be with us so I just want to see if the crowds will be unbearable. Thank you!

I’ve never been but I’ve heard it’s unbearable. I’ve read trip reports. I’ve seen pictures. It looks busy. A lot of schools close the week after Easter. Maybe second busiest week after Christmas ?

Yes, the week after Easter is very crowded. (Unbearable is subjective - some people like Christmas size crowds.)
In 2022 it will be even more crowded than usual for the week after Easter: the April school vacation week for Massachusetts (and iirc, Maine too) happens to fall that week. (MA public schools have the week off that starts with the 3rd Monday of April. We always go to WDW for April vacation EXCEPT the years it falls with Easter (which is approx. every 3 years.) Not just due to the much larger crowds, but airfare and hotel prices are much higher.) HTH.

The week before and after are similar. The next weekend after Easter starts the week where it comes down a bit.

We have been a few times for the week after Easter (always our spring break) and have noticed that the later in the month Easter falls, the less crowded it has been. Crowds have been tolerable for us-but we do tend to be in early and avoid the parks mid day. I feel like this year it will be more crowded due to the 50th, but we are going to brave it anyhow. Our oldest son starts high school baseball next year and they play games right through spring break:oops: so this may be the last time we can go during the year without our kids having to miss school (which they dislike now that they are older). I feel for you as a teacher planning! I miss the days we took them out for a week in November or December. Those trips were the best!!

I just wanted to say I feel your pain with the high school sports over (Every!!) school break!! We have so many unissued DVC Points, Cruise Refunds and an IOU trip to Italy we have to fit in when the world opens and this rule is killing me!!

I think that this week will be particularly bad because it’s also a full overlap with Passover - this adds more schools (especially NY!) to the group wanting to travel That week!!

Not only Massachusetts, but most New England states have the week of the 17th off. Patriot's Day is the Monday following Easter. K-12 schools have week off, many parents have the Monday off from work. New Hampshire schools have the week of the 25th off. The situation is unique in 2022, because Easter happens to fall on the same week as vacation. So, In addition to the regular crazy busy holiday crowds, you'll have the addition of even more vacationers.

I am a NYC teacher and we love Disney that week. Yes it’s definitely crowded but there are so many reasons we love it.. perfect weather, garden festival in Epcot. We were just in Disney our last spring break but it was the last week in March. Obviously the crowds were much less because of covid but I’d rather go in April 2022 then president’s week I think? That’s on going debate in my house right now.

Tour Plans (touringplans.com), shows that period being anywhere from 4-7 for crowd levels on a scale of 1-10. For comparison, the week before is mostly 8’s, the first 2 weeks in December in the 3-4 crowd level range and Christmas/New Year in the 8-10 range. Granted, these crowd levels will change as we get closer to those time periods. So, depending on your tolerances for crowds, that week is better than the prior week, but not as good as your original plans.

I checked touring plans too and it seems to good to be true.. but you never know. President’s week is showing 8/10 for most if the week.

anyone willing to post photos of just how crowded it is for an Easter week that coincided with all the school vacations? a picture is worth a thousand words...
