April 14, 2007 Eastern Cruise!

Thank you for the information and tips! We were talking about it some more last night and DH really does not want to drive, so I'll see what he thinks of the train. My taravel agent is working on flights still, but I'm not too optimistic.

I'm afraid to say it, but we may end up going another time. I told DH the only way I would consider cancelling is if we have another trip planned, I don't want to tell the kids we're not going without giving them someting else to look forward too.

There's been DING's for Christmas week. I would hold out for a ding, and Jetblue has had some specials for 79, which isn't bad. Maybe you could drive to an airport not in New England and fly from there? Flying home into New England is doable price wise, I think! I'd for you guys to have to cancel.

I've been keeping my eyes open too because I really don't want to fly out on the 10th and be there with the crowds!

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

3 months, 2 weeks, 6 days till our cruise :boat:

We should probably start getting organised about meets and perhaps some sort of fish extender thing. Are any of you planning to do door magnets? I have to admit I've already started getting mine organized :rotfl:

Do you think it would be a good idea to do a unifying door sign that we have on each of our doors, some sort of DIS sign (perhaps a lime green mickey??)

Since were getting closer, im assuming that we all probably know our stateroom numbers. If you could all post them I could add another column to our table on the website I created. This way if we plan to exchange anything our have some sort of meet, it will be easy to find eachother's rooms.

Incase, you've lost the link, here's the link to the website:

Remember to keep in touch and post often!

ETA: Wow, were on the first page of the cruise meets board. Yay us!

It has been a while since I have caught up with all the posts. So glad to see that there are a lot of people from New England and Red Sox Fans!!

As we get closer I was going to try to ask this question again..

We are looking forward to the cruise a great deal in April however, We are a bit nervous though...(He (my dp) and I ) We love everything Disney and are both looking forward to going on this cruise. We have second dinner seating. We are VERY low key and hope we might find some others to have seating rotation with.

Feel free to PM me if you would like....

We are new to this board and DCL although we have been to Disney many times in the past. We changed our date from Feb 24th to April 14th cruise which changed us from western to eastern...has anyone done the DCL in April before? our travel agent thinks we are nuts to go during this time as she said the boat will be packed and crazy...any idea how nuts it is going to be? I hope Patriots day helps us and it is mainly new englanders...at least it should keep the Yankee fans to a minimum. We are coming in on the 12th and staying at the floridian two nights and then staying at the yacht club or beach club (haven't decided yet) on Saturday night as we couldn't get a direct back on Saturday..we are so excited for the vacation and the cruise as I have only heard great things...the only problem now is my twin daughters (6 yrs old on Dec 27th) ask me every day when April 14th is? We are also thinking of bringing my mother and getting her a room but I am not sure she will like the crowded boat?

:welcome: Barrettclan!!!

So glad you'll be joining us!

You probably haven't gotten a chance to read through this whole thread yet, but I would do so if you have a chance. We also have a cruise website which is www.disneycruise41407.wetpaint.com The website should help give you an update of our doings.

We've done DCL in April before, and if you ask me, its not as bad as it seems like it should be. Besides the pools sometimes, it never really feels crowded. A lot of the Disers that have checked are New Englanders, so hopefully we won't have too many Yankee fans on board. Also, my DH's mother will be coming along, so perhaps if your mother came along as well, they could meet.

Again, welcome! Look forward to chatting with you!

ETA: I saw you added your information to our website! Fabulous!

Hello Everyone!

Can't wait until we cruise! I am really looking forward to getting to meet you all :)

I was wondering if everyone could post what dining rotation they have. I'd add another column to the List of Current DisCruisers page on our website, and it would help us keep track of who we can expect to see at dinner. Also, I know that some people are interested in linking up for dinner, so this would help those people see who their options are.

Can't wait for our cruise! :boat:

ETA: I have dining rotation assignments for those listed below, so, I need to hear from everyone else :)

Finalized all plans today so we are in WDW on the 12th at the Floridian for two nights then to DCL on Saturday then back to WDW at the beach club for two nights as we couldn't get a flight that worked on Sunday. I have some questions though..the first is we couldn't book a specific room on the eight deck but we are guaranteed a room on the deck and then they say they may even give us a free upgrade but since this is on the 8th deck they could only upgrade us to the suites which I doubt are available or that we would get. I know expedia had some rooms available that you could pick so should I push my travel agent to see if she can get a specific room or do I just have to wait? I keep hearing that it is noisy under the goofy pool does anyone know if this is true as there are rooms according to expedia available for specific picks? Has anyone heard of someone getting upgraded to the suite from the 8 deck before??

The other question is that we have been waitlisted for early seating and I called disney and they said that more likely than not the family would get the early seating...this is a concern as most days my three year old (by the time we cruise) and twin six year olds are usually sleeping by 8 so dinner after that may be a problem as most nights we wont be able to make the dining room...has anybody been waitlisted before and moved to early seating?? Also, my DW wanted to know what time pirate night is and do most adults dress up??

Thanks and we can't wait...

Hi and Welcome,

Considering the ship sails full on most sailings it really doesn't matter which date you go because the crowd level is usually the same. I just went on The Wonder over Thanksgiving and the ship was completely sold out. The crowd levels felt the same as on my prior two cruises (one in April and one in December)
My mother and mother in law are also coming this is there second Disney cruise and they loved the last one.
I don't understand why your Travel agent thinks your nuts? It is mostly Massachusetts that celebrates Patriots Day. Parts of NY have that week but NH has the next week. Most of the colleges and other parts of the country have a break in March. April is really a nice time to go unless it falls on Easter week than that is a different stroy.

The time will go by quickly now. Time to start getting this thread going.
I currently have late seating but I am on a waitlist for early.

Hi Everyone :wave2: Hope you all had a great holiday. For Christmas, we gave our 8 year old son a cute Mickey box from the Disney store and filled it with Mickey p.j's, underwater disposable camera, pirate shirt, mickey photo album, a disney t-shirt to be signed and a mickey scrapbook photo set. He loved it. Thanks Disboards for this tip...it was a great idea. Now that the holidays are over, I can once again think about our up coming cruise. :woohoo:

We have early seating but I'm not sure what rotation we have. As soon as I know, I'll post it. I'm also thinking about how to decorate our cabin door. Are you all decorating your doors?

I know some of you were having a difficult time finding flights.....is everyone all set with their plans getting to Orlando?

Our 75 day advance reservation day is coming up and I had a quick question regarding signing up my son for the Oceaneer Club. Is the sign-in a general registration, or do we have to determine specific days and times when he will be checked into the club.

Do the children's clubs ever reach capacity to the point where a child can not participate? Thanks for any information you can provide.

Looking forward to our cruise!

Brad

You register online then after you check in at the port you go over to the children’s desk and they put wristbands on the kids or put stickers on there Key to the world cards(depending on age group) you then get your pager. You can check the kids in and out of the clubs. No signs ups. The only time you have to wait to sign in or out is if the club is in "transition" i.e. leaving dinner, going to and from the movies, switching club. These transition times are usually only 15 mins up 30. They are listed on the navigator so you know when they are. I have not heard of the clubs filing up. The last two Disney cruises I have been on have been sold out and we have never had a problem.
Last cruise my son was having such a good time in the club but I needed one more picture for a Christmas card. We ran up checked in out - he had his picture taken and then he went right back up. They are very flexible.
Hope this helps.

Howdy everyone. For those of you who are castaway clubbers we can book Palo and excursions at 3 am Eastern time on Sunday. We loved the dinner we had at Palo on our 4 night and are excited about trying the brunch as well. Can't convince my hubby to do tea, oh well. I have gone into high plannning mode and am on the boards lurking almost every day, trying to find out every last detail.
What excursions are people planning on doing? We are going to rent cars on St Thomas and St Maarten and do the stingrays on castaway cay.
We finally found affordable airfare but had to fly Albany(about 1 hour from our house) to Jacksonville(about 3 hours to port). Much better than driving straight through the Thursday before. Now I just need to book rental cars and a hotel the night before, my hubby wants to stay in Daytonna Beach but I am pushing for driving straight to the port that first night. Either way we'll be happier than if we had drive!

I am so glad you found airfare! I am getting excited. Remember castaway club members must be paid in full in order to book 90 days out. It can't hurt do call now and make sure your reservation has you marked as a castaway club member.
I would drive right to the port and skip Daytona Beach. I would be too excited knowing I was so close but so far.
We haven't decided on excursions yet.

Yogibigdog- We are paid in full as of yesterday or at least our credit card was charged!! Getting airfare took a huge weight off, the thought of the drive and what it might do to my marriage(we started cruising on our honeymoon because we were concerned about our ability to stay marry and drive any long distances together!!!) was a big worry.
We should start thinking about setting up a meet for this thread> I have been reading trip reports and some groups are really well organized with matching shirts and everything!!! I would settle for name tags to ID each other in port or on the ship. Any ideas?
Tyna

We had matching shirts on the Thanksgiving cruise thanks to one of our fellow Dis'er who own an embroidery company. Since several of us had the shirts on in the terminal we actually had a mini meet before we even boarded and it gave us the chance to have lunch with some of our group. It really worked out great. Name tags or some type of sticker would be a start.

I think the idea of matching t-shirts is a fun and great way to spot our fellow Disers at terminal and on board. What do you all think? One question though, do we have to go with the lime green or are other colors optional?

We've got early seating for dinner (6:00pm) LAP. Do any of you have this time also? For you repeat cruisers, is the LAP rotation good on formal nights?
