I would go nuts if I waited that close to the trip. I guess I am a bit neurotic when it comes to packing. I am always afraid I am going to forget something. I am always packing and re-packing and debating about what I should or shouldn't bring.
I am a chronic overpacker. For our 4 day cruise for 4 people we had 9 pieces of luggage!

I just make lists - :thumbsup2
like - next week I have to visit my mom all week - so I am leaving my dh and his sister(who is visiting from out of town) in charge. I leave a list for everyday, who does what, what to eat, who has to go where... one of these days I am going to go away and not leave a list and see if they make it through! LOL

I already have lists started for the trip...

I can't imagine packing this early. I am the night before packer. If I packed this early, I wouldn't remember what I packed. I will get everyone's clothes ready in my head now, but nothing goes into suitcases until the night before. Call me crazy! LOL!

This makes me nervous - we ordered a town car for our trip to the port... how much luggage can we fit?

Last time we went they put 2 26" suitcases, 1 24" suitcase, 1 21" suitcase and a rolling duffle full of shoes. So they squished that on top. We had to take the duffel with bathroom stuff into the car with us and any other carry bags with us. They barely got the trunk to close. We almost thought we were bringing one piece of luggage into the car, but who wants to ride for an hour with luggage in their lap.

This time we are swapping the smallest suitcase for one more 24", so I didn't want to chance it.

Welcome!
My kids are around the same age as yours as well! They are getting interested in all of the folks I am meeting on the board, but are curious about how it is going to work making friends on the boat. I can not wait to meet you all!

If you want to pm me their email addresses, I can add them to the "group" emails that each age group is doing as we speak. We set it up so they could get the "shyness" and gitters out of the way early. They were having fun, but I haven't checked in a while. There is one with 12-14 year olds (has 2 boys) and another with 9 - 11 year olds (all girls)

Well I expect my daughter Tabby will meet up with Gabi as they are exactly the same age! We did a trial run of a Disney cruise (just a 3 nighter) 3 years ago - I wanted to do it but hubby and kids weren't keen. However they all absolutely loved it, especially Tabby - mainly because of the karaoke I think! They both just loved the kids clubs which was sucha great bonus! There was only one other english family on board that time.

We did the same thing ... a 3 nighter on the Wonder in October of 2006 and it was awesome. We all loved it. My husband promised me that if I didn't ask to do any cruises in 2007 that we could do a 7 night in 2008 so I had to make him make good on that promise!!!

My son in law, Megan's husband had a car accident last night. Thank God the kids where not in the car. The car looks totaled. But he is ok, sore but OK. Kim my other daughter slipped last week and almost damaged her knee. She is still in pain. I am putting everyone in bubble wrap.!!!..
NO MORE ACCIDENTS!!

:rolleyes1 pirate: :wizard: :lovestruc

ROEIO -- Glad to hear your Son-in-law is OK. My nephew-in-law-to-be, who will be on the cruise, totalled his car a couple of months ago, but also walked away from it. We are so blessed!!

But I'm with you on the bubble wrap. I'm afraid one of my boys is going to break something in a soccer game, now that the season is in full swing. NO BROKEN BODIES BEFORE THE CRUISE!!!!

I keep telling our daughter no broken bones for the cruise! Well when I walked into the ER room last night I said that broken bone rule applied to him too :rolleyes1 (we thought he may had broken part of his hand but he just jammed it on the wheel)! So I told him if it was broken he better ask for a waterproof cast! But all is fine, he's just sore, although he was losing his balance for a little bit, but when they released him he was fine.

So now when we get back I get to go shopping for a car-fun fun :rolleyes1

Megan, sorry to hear about the accident, and glad to here that your DH is ok. Vacation will be just what you need.
Vickie

I am not in fear of broken bones---you can still go and have fun. It is the flu that I am in fear of interfering with the vacation. I have felt like doodoo the past week. Not enough to be the flu, but body aches and stuffed head. Yuck! Everything from pink eye to strep to a stomach bug is going through our schools. The Feb break didn't do much about it either.

OMG - bubble wrap sounds like a great idea! Glad they are ok. Tell them to take it easy, will ya!

Deb, if you're going to feel like doodoo, do it now and not three weeks from now! I've been popping Vitamin C and B-Complex for weeks now. It probably doesn't do anything physically, but perhaps the psychological effect is working!

Meanwhile, for you DCL veterans -- what do you do about letting kids charge on their KTTW cards? Can you set a limit? I think our teens will be pretty responsible, but do you let the tweens charge smoothies and such, and still limit how much?

How many days now???????

I don't think there is a way to "limit" spending through DCL. It would have to be honest system.

I don't really use vitamins, etc that much. They can interfere with my thyroid meds if I don't take them at a certain time of the day. I also never understood the combo thing. Did you know that Calcium (I think that is the element) interferes with your absorption of iron? How does that work when they are both in the same pill. My dh uses everything. He tells me all the time to use them, but I'd rather get it all the natural way. Drinking OJ or eating more fruit. Did you know broccoli give you "vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, iron, magnesium, potassium, and zinc" as well as the calcium equivalent of a 4 oz glass of milk? We eat it raw here with a little salad dressing dip. Who needs a multi-vitamin. LOL!

My dh loves that airborne. I enjoyed showing him the news article on the lawsuit against them because all their claims are false and all they are is a multivitamin. So, if your taking airborne and a multivitamin, then you are doubling up.

I just try and eat right and get enough sleep. It is the sleep that is the most important to me. When I get run down, I get open to all kinds of things.

I did get really sick one cruise. I haven't gotten sick that violently in a long time. My body was purging itself of something---I think it was food poisoning. No one else got sick in the family and it only lasted less than 24 hours. I hid in my room and managed to talk to a crew member who brought me dinner ---barely. As soon as that door closed---you get the picture.

Ok---a little off topic for Disney.

Deb--who leaves in 23 days and cruises in 26.

26 days!!! I can't wait. Three weekends before the cruise. The first one is Easter weekend, so I am busy getting ready for a dinner for 16 people. (well, I should be, but instead I sit here on the boards!), the following weekend will be my free weekend and the weekend of the 4 & 5 we will be away for my nephews Communion. So the cruise is around the corner. I think I am almost done with shopping and figuring out what we need, and then I just need to pack it into suitcases.

All I can say is 26 more days!!!

We were able to get moved to 1st seating. I know it rushes the afternoon, but my parents who have never cruised before (and are treating the family to this cruise) want to eat early and then enjoy the shows.

FYI, I don't know if you've been reading the regular cruise boards, but there are changes in the dining rotations that Disney is experimenting with. For our Eastern cruise, the schedule is now (per my agent at Small World Vacations):
Day 1-Casual
Day 2-Formal
Day 3-Casual
Day 4-Casual
Day 5-Pirate
Day 6- Semi Formal
Day 7-Casual

Also, the new rotations are as follows:
5:30 and 8:00 LAAPLAP
5:45 and 8:15 APPLAPL
6:00 and 8:30 PLLAPLA

On the good side, we no longer have to wake up early for immigration on St. Thomas day after being up late at the Pirate party(still early, but not after the party). The bad news, for us, is we booked Palo for Day 5 which is now Pirate night. I checked the reservations and all that is open is Day 5 so...I'll take my chances at the port since anything can happen between now and then with their experimenting.

Off to shop for Easter.:)
Gina

gfolchick,

Thanks for the info on the seating. I've contacted our agent to see what's up. I hate it when they change things just when we think we've got them figured out!!! :headache:

Bev

Does anyone know if the change in dining rotation will impact the show schedule? I had scheduled Palo for DH and I on Pirate night because I did not want to miss a show, so according to the old schedule, we were going on day 4. I just signed in to my reservation to see if I would be able to change to day 5, there is nothing available. Our current reservation is for 8:30...maybe we could go to the early show that night. Any input from more experienced cruisers would be appreciated.

Thanks,
