>> April 1, 2012 - Disney Dream Spring Break Frenzy! <<

Well my friends... two weeks down, soon we will be counting the hours, then minutes before we are "Living the Disney Dream"

Have a wonderful Sunday... and for all the basketball fans, I hope your team wins. :cheer2:

My kids woke up this morning, sprinted to our room and said in two weeks we will be in Florida!!!

We can't wait and I really hope I'm cheering on Marquette in the Final 4 as well!! I am one of those crazy over the top college basketball fans, my wife is slightly less passionate about it. However if any husbands are looking to watch the championship game from the sports bar i'll be there flying solo as well.

Oh and my son is sitting next to me as I type and thinks the banana guys is a riot.......so thats from him!

Finished the FE gifts and preparing a package to mail to the ship. Does anyone have a great packing list they would ant to share? I have the WDW ultimate packing list, but that seems like overkill for a cruise.

Does anyone know when the meeting for DVC members might take place? What date and location, if anyone has already done this before on the Dream?

For some unknown reason, there never seems to be a regular day, time, or location for the DVC Member Celebration on any of the sailings. :confused3 The November 6th Dream 4-night Navigator listed it as being on embarkation day, 2:30-3:30pm, in Evolution (Deck 4 aft). The January 30th Dream 4-night Navigator had it listed on Day 2 (Nassau day), 10-11am, in Evolution.

Usually on Embarkation day from 2 30 to 3 30 in Evolution.

I did find Navigators from mid February that confirmed this is still the practice. But I also thought others might like to see what could be possible for our sailing. TO FIND THEM: Google the following: dream navigator February 2012 to find them.

Christopher, your link didn't work. Maybe it was from a competitor's website?

I guess so. I have edited my post with ideas of how to find it via google.

There tend to be DVC meetings nearly every day but the member meeting is on the embarkation day with free Champagne.

After reading everyone's response, at least if it is at 2:30pm in Evolution that gives us time to get there and then get upstairs to the Family Zone on Deck 13 by 3:15pm for the every so important DisBoards meet and greet.

I guess we will have to read our navigators on the first day to figure it out... can't wait to see them. :3dglasses

In addition to the usual clothing items (including pajamas and bathing suits) and toiletries, here’s a suggested list:

Passports (or original/certified birth certificates)
Signed cruise documents
FE
FE Gifts
FE Participant List with cabin numbers
Zip ties
Scissors (to cut the zip ties)
Over-the-door shoe organizer (to keep odds and ends like sunscreen, hair things, etc.)
Dollar bills for room service tips
Waterproof container
Glow sticks to use as nightlights and to add some fun to Pirate Night
Disney Rewards Card (if you have points from a Disney VISA charge card)
Sea sickness meds (Bonine and Ginger Pills)
Binoculars
Disney Pins to trade
Autograph Book and pen
Hairdryer (if you need a strong one)
Pirate wear
Princess costumes/Character costumes for your little ones
Flip Flops, Pool Shoes
Baby Powder to help brush off sand (it’s a great trick!)
Wrist watches for everyone
Sunscreen (and maybe some aloe in case you miss a spot)
Sunglasses
Addresses of people you want to send post cards to, plus cash for purchasing stamps
Extra batteries for your electronics
Camera and Camcorder, plus chargers
Highlighters to use on Navigators
Small flashlights for moving around the cabin at night
Earplugs if you are a light sleeper (like me!)
Beach bag to haul whatever you plan to take on Castaway Cay and/or your Nassau excursion
Shout or Tide Stain Wipes/Stick

I called and pre-paid gratuities today. Nice to have those out of the way. I know that they will be earned and I don't have to worry about it during the cruise. Trying to get as much out of the way as I can.

Trying to get myself motivated to pack but having difficulties doing so. I have to go searching in the basement for the boxes with summer clothes and also for the smaller sizes that became too small but will be needed since I have managed to take off some pounds for this trip. Blessing and a curse at the same time.

Well it is 11 PM here so off to bed. 2 weeks from now we dream on the Dream.

Christopher I also heard they do a drawing for $200 onboard credit... how nice would that be.

When I was on the Dream last year, the OBC drawing was for $300 and all members got some really cool gifts. I got a nice ball cap, a small tote bag, and they sent a reall cool hinged wooden box that had DVC lanyards in it. With those plus all the Castaway Club gifts, it seemed there was something new each night when I returned to the cabin.......and now there is the FE as well.

woohoo

WOW couldn't sleep this morning, just keep thinking that in 2 weeks I would be waking up (if I slept at all) in sunny FLA getting ready to depart on this amazing adventure. :cloud9:
As a first time Disney cruiser, part of the excitement is not knowing what to expect, from checkin to lunch, the sail away deck party.. looking at our room for the first time.. all these things.
Then the additional excitement of finally meeting all the wonderful people from the DISboards, these amazing people who have been giving advice, sharing bits and pieces of our lives, really becoming friends virtually... can't wait to put faces to names, have the kids meet, have others to share the same feeling of excitement. :tink:

 Loved, Loved, Loved your post!

I have to admit that I'm just as excited - especially since I know what to expect!!!! :goodvibes I can picture it all in my mind already, and I'm getting almost impatient about being back onboard. :cool2:

For us, the only unknown is who we will be seated with at dinner. We've had good and bad luck with tablemates. Fortunately, we've had fantastic luck on our longer cruises. But on the shorter cruises, our dining experiences have been... shall we say... a bit interesting. ;) We're hoping for some fun dinners this cruise. :flower3:

And if you don't win at the Member event, you're always welcome to attend the other DVC information sessions for more chances to win the cash drawing! :thumbsup2

My luck is so poor that at one of the Member events, everyone in the room won something except me! :rotfl: The family I was sitting with felt so badly about it that they offered to give me one of their prizes. :goodvibes At least I know I'll end up with a hat and lanyards. :lovestruc

These next two weeks are going to go by v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y. :upsidedow

Workingforvacation - I am trying to finish up my FE gifts, can you plz give me your last name initial! Thanks so much!!
Amy

Thanks Deb for the packing list!

I have heard the dvc members get lanyards during the cruise, is that at the meeting or are they left in cabins?

The DVC lanyards are placed in cabins during the first nightly turn-down service, usually inside something else. For the last few years, they've been inside a very nice wooden DVC box. You can also pick up extras at the Member meeting. :)

Deb, do you only qualify for the lanyards and the nice wooden box if you are using DVC points to pay for the cruise??? We didn't use points for the cruise and are DVC members... or do they know after you go to the meet and greet??
It's all new to me...;)

Good news... :thumbsup2 We've never cruised on points and have always received all the DVC goodies. :goodvibes If you don't get anything by the second day, stop by the DVC podium to tell them your cabin number. (Check your Navigator for the DVC podium hours - they're not open whenever the ship is docked.) But, please be advised that the wooden box could be discontinued now and there could be a new DVC gift instead. (I wouldn't want you to be disappointed if they weren't giving out the box anymore.)

It was a good weekend for the Spartans in basketball! My brackets, on the other hand are not looking so good. I don't care much as I can't pick against my Spartans and have them winning it all. We hope to be cheering them on in the championship. My DH and I were in Vegas in 2010 when they were last in the championship game.

I am pondering moving our dining to late dining from early. Should I do that now by calling orjist take a chance on embarkation day?
