>> April 1, 2012 - Disney Dream Spring Break Frenzy! <<

For those of you in the FE on our list (Los Chavez) our cabin is 7500.

We still don't have our cruise documents. Is anyone else in the same boat? Craig (DH) left for Las Vegas yesterday to watch our New Mexico Lobos play in the Mountain West Conference basketball tournament. Go Lobos!
Venita

I just picked up my packet yesterday at the PO Box, so yours has got to be arriving soon!!

Just some questions I'm hoping to get answers for. I know I've seen some conflicting info online in various places, so hoping for some insider input.

Do you know if you need to take transportation to the Straw Market and Pirates Museum in Nassau? Is it a safe place to walk around? Do you need to take your passports with you or a copy? Do you know what time we’re back on board?

Thanks!

:hippie:

The Straw Market is an easy walk from the ship. I've never been to the Pirate's Museum, but I've also heard that it's within walking distance, too. :thumbsup2

Walking around Nassau is safe. However, you should take precautions to avoid being pick-pocketed. (Men - put rubberbands around your wallet and keep it in a front trouser pocket. Women - keep your purse slung over the front of you instead of hanging off your shoulder on the side.) If your children are carrying their own money, keep an eye on them as well. I know one DISer who's pre-tween daughter set her purse down to look at something in the Straw Market and it immediately disappeared into thin air.

If you're planning to bargain for cheaper prices in the Straw Market (which is very acceptable and routinely done), make sure you have small bills to pay with. You don't want to bargain down to $2 and then hand them a $20 bill. Also, be very aware of the "bait and switch" on items. We learned this the hard way. On our very first trip to Nassau and the Straw Market, DH wanted to buy t-shirts for his colleagues. He carefully chose the t-shirts he wanted and the "very helpful" lady at the booth insisted on bagging the shirts for him. What we didn't notice was that she was pulling shirts from the bottom of the pile, and that those shirts were very thin and very poor quality compared to the nice, thick t-shirts on the top. :sad2:

Also, be prepared to say "no" a thousand times from the moment you leave the port facility. "No" to the men who want to give you a ride in their cab. "No" to the women who want to braid your hair. "No" to the people who want to take you on a tour. No, no, no. And, don't be surprised if you are looking at items in one stall in the Straw Market and another stall owner comes over and pulls you by the arm to his/her stall! That has also happened to us!!

Tis a crazy place in da Bahama's, Mon! ;)

Passports - it's up to you whether or not you want to take your actual passports in Nassau. The only reason you would need them is if you don't make it back to the ship before it leaves. If you aren't planning to cut it close to reboard, just taking copies is fine. If you do decide to take them, I'd recommend an under-the-shirt (concealed) neck wallet to keep them safe.

Last year, the all-aboard time in Nassau was 6pm. The last set of Navigators that were available on the DIS Boards listed 6:30pm. We've also been on sailings where the all-aboard time was 11pm. (Sometimes the captain will set a later time as a treat for the cms who are aren't working that evening.) The Navigator we receive on Sunday night will have that information listed at the top of the first page. :)

Hi Everyone!

Monday 6:57am ~ 7:25pm
Tuesday 6:56am ~ 7:26pm
Wednesday 6:57am ~ 7:27pm

Hey All! I have been MIA for the past couple of days!! Sorry... Work has been crazy...state testing begins next week and we still have three full weeks until Spring Break. I was telling DH that if this pace at work keeps up I will REALLY need this vacation! How many kids can one person suspend in a day??????
I have to catch up on the recent posts. Deb T I am glad you were able to answer Shelli's questions. Christopher (D73) sent me an awesome map of the ship with staterooms from FE#1 mapped out. He is willing to do for FE#2 - I just need to share the room numbers with him - if you all are ok with that. Sorry about the mistakes I have made with the FE... Has anyone had any problems getting in touch with people in their group? Let me know, we may need to confirm participation for one or two people.
I will try to catch up more tomorrow. However, the trend continues...
Connor has his biennial (I think that means every other year) cardiologist appointment in the morning. He has a very mild aortic stenosis and they do a battery of tests to make sure it is growing with him. He has been diagnosed with it since he was 2 days old - so far so good! Then orthodontist in the afternoon and Black Belt Pre Test tomorrow night. I test for my orange belt on Saturday morning at 9am! I will never understand why the adults test at 9am and the kids test all morning after us! We are old, we need our sleep!! I am looking forward to Sunday...no plans after Church!
OK - catch up soon...

Debbie

Would LOVE a copy of this. Will you be able to share?? :flower3:

I would also love a copy of this and also if Christopher is willing to do group #2, I don't see any issue sharing that list with him as well. Thanks Christopher!

Debbie, good luck with dr, ortho and with your belt testings!

You guys are so good! A map for group 1 is appreciated as I was planning on obsessing over that myself soon. :rotfl:

Deb, you mentioned something about "mistakes" with the FEs? What did I miss? If the room info for FE1 is incorrect, let me know b/c I'll need to make new labels. ;) THANK YOU!!

I can't believe we have 23 days and we'll all finally meet! Speaking of, have the plans for the meet/greet been finalized? I saw some chatter but I can't remember... Are we all supposed to wear something specific or a color as well? :confused3

TTYL!

I'd love this info, also. I know I saw something about 3:15-3:45, but I can't remember where. As far as wearing a specific color, we have certain clothes we're already planning to wear on the ship, so I don't know if we'll be in the chosen color, but we'll still hunt for everyone! My hubby bought me an adorable Sailor Minnie tee for my birthday yesterday! It's totally going to be my sail away shirt. :cutie:

If Christopher is willing to create a floor plan map for FE 2 - that would be GREAT!!!!!! :worship: I would like a copy of it.....:goodvibes

Thank you Christopher.........:woohoo:

I am in FE #1, getting my stuff ready, just wondering if anyone in the group would like their last name on it if I am personalizing. Just thinking if you don't have your real family name listed, you might like it better than me using user name here.

We are 6668 on list .....Burger Family.

If anyone else wants to add a last name, let me know:-)

Hey all
One appt down, one left. Cardiologist went great! Connor's heart has actually strengthened in the past two years. I attribute this to all the conditioning and cardio he does with Taekwondo, and competition team training. He continues to have a very mild aortic stenosis...a diagnosis I was very pleased to hear. Ortho should be a piece of cake appointment - just measurements and next set of tighter bands. Then onto his black belt pre test.
I will send the map that Christopher made to everyone in group #1. I am going to see how I can do this through PM, if not I'll use the email address people gave me in the beginning. If I don't have your email address I will PM you.
I believe the meet was the first day at 3:15. Deb T - were we going to try the same location we used last year? Or did we come up with something else. As far as color of clothes, we don't need to do that...the kids all did it last year, but not something we need to do.
Christopher I am going to forward you the information for Group #2...

Debbie

We'll add our last name. We're the Gorgas family. So excited to see what everyone is doing! Brookie, we're 6156...it looks like we're right around the corner from each other. We're a few cabins forward, opposite side of ship, but there's a set of stairs right there. Will be easy to find your cabin! :)

I am happy to do the Group #2 map as well. I am also fine with it being sent out in any way possible. Or if all else fails, I am happy to bring copies and make an early delivery of the map as I make the rounds.

3 weeks from mow, I will be on my way. Overnight in Paris on the way....what shall I do that night? If it is warm, perhaps a Seine cruise? Too bad it is too far to get out to Disneyland for the evening......then again....maybe!

Jackson is my last name of needed.....though it is just me so Christopher is fine.

FYI FE Group#1:
cabin 9008 Courtney and Nicky are the Riscica family, but my mother Ginny's last name is Carmon.

FYI FE Group #2:
cabin 9006 mom's last name is Marlow, the boys are West.

Sorry to be so confusing!

22 days till we fly out!

I believe this is what was decided a few days back per the suggestion of resident expert Deb T., so reposting to spread the word:

My suggestion would be to meet 3:15-3:45pm in the Family Zone on Deck 13 Forward (port side). In case of rain, we could meet in the vicinity of the Vista Cafe on Deck 4 (opposite side of the atrium from Shutters).
