>> April 1, 2012 - Disney Dream Spring Break Frenzy! <<

If money is no object go for it, however the Dave Ramsey in me just can't justify the expense. In my opinion go to a Disney water park, hit up a Kalahari resort, go to Wisconsin Dells, or that big water park outisde San Antonio.

Ah, another Dave Ramsey family! Big time fans here. We've been debt free (except the house) for over 2 years now, and when we were going crazy getting to that point, I used to tell people that a big motivation to do it was to be able to go to Disney whenever we wanted to! Two-time FPU coordinators at our church. Love it! :thumbsup2

We haven't been able to to take FPU, but we have read the TMM countless times and that book lives on our coffee table. Not to mention daily visits to Dave's FB page for little shots of encouragement. My only regret is someboday didn't give use that book when I was in college or at very least for a wedding gift. I guess better late then never to learn a life lesson.

A few friends and I went to Atlantis a few years ago and managed to just wander around there. We took a cab to the front door and looked around in the hotel and then did the outdoor aquariums, beach and the lazy river. We got caught on the lazy river for not having the wristbands that the hotel gives it's guests, but they just told us to go get them. I don't know if they've changed their policies and only let guests with wristbands in the lobby.

IMO, Altlantis is neat, but really not worth the price of the excursion. I'd do one of the other beaches someone was talking about a while back where you can pay the hotel $15 and use the beach and hotel facilities. Or a public beach. DF and I found a Pirate Museum close to the ship that we and a few friends are going to.

Finally completed
I'd not used T shirt transfers before so I've learned something! The ribbon down the sides has union jacks (British flags) on it.
I must get some more of my Maths assignment done before I start obsessing over door magnets!

VERY CUTE!! :thumbsup2

Hi Everyone! I just caught up on reading all the posts from the last several days. DH's beloved Aunt passed away last week :sad1: so we've been out-of-state for a while. Although it was nice to see all of our family and friends, it was also very sad because of the circumstance.

I wanted to take a minute to add my two cents to the refrigerator and water questions. :)

We were in a Cat6 cabin for B2B cruises on the Dream last April and did not have any "mini-bar" (for purchase) type items in our cabin. Way back in the early days of DCL, all of the "coolers" were mini-bars. However, as you can well imagine, this became problematic with all of the children onboard! So, DCL eventually pulled out all the "for-purchase" items. Then, for the next several years, the coolers looked odd because they didn't take off the old mini bar doors until the next dry dock.

As already mentioned, bottles of water are available for purchase onboard, (usually in packs of six) as well as in small DCL soft-side coolers (lunch box size) as you debark the ship on CC. It is waaaaaaaaay cheaper to bring your own onboard. If you decide to put them in your luggage, be sure to pack them inside sealed plastic bags to prevent accidental leaking. Filtered water is also always available at the 24-hour beverage stations on Deck 11 (dispensed from the soda machines into paper cups). If you drink lots and lots of water throughout the day, you might want to bring a regular water bottle with you because the paper cups are relatively small. Also be aware that CC does not provide lids or straws on the island because of their hazard to wildlife. Therefore, a water bottle is helpful in keeping sand out of your drinks. You can purchase DCL water bottles on the ship to use since they make great souvenirs, but they aren't pre-washed. (We always pack a little bit of dish detergent in a small bottle whenever we travel.)

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

. My mom swears the mid atlantic is going to get him with a huge snowstorm on 3/30, since we haven't had any snow this winter. :rolleyes1

Debbie

No snowstorms anywhere on 3/30, that is the day we are flying out and that has been my biggest fear.....a Michigan snowstorm, ahhh!!!! Once our plane has landed in FL the snowstorms can begin, even if it means our return flight is cancelled:-)

We've been fortunate enough to have spent a total of 60 glorious nights onboard the various Disney ships so far (soon to be 64!!!), so we've become quite creative when it comes to procuring favorite drinks and snacks. ;) I thought I'd share a few of our secret tips and tricks!

Ice cream - Eye Scream sometimes provides cones and sometimes there are just small cups. Whenever they have the small cups, we go get beverage cups from the 24-hour drink station to use instead! Typically, the only toppings they supply are chocolate and caramel sauces.

Ice cream sundaes - Okay, this requires some footwork, but it's well worth the trouble. We get drink cups first, then pick up a banana from Flo's Cafe (the walk-up eateries on Deck 11) and cut it up into the cups. Then we get our ice cream from Eye Scream and pour the provided chocolate sauce on top. We add our own mini-marshmallows and nut topping that we bring from home in snack-size baggies, and then we stop by the nearest bar and ask for a dab of whipped cream and a cherry!

Coke Floats - use a cup and coke from the drink station and then add ice cream from Eye Scream! If you have to have root beer for your float, I believe it can be purchased at the bars.

Sweet tea - We love :lovestruc sweet tea, but it is not provided anywhere onboard. :sad2: I've read where some guests have asked for it in the dining rooms and their servers have made it special every night just for them, but we've never been fortunate enough for that to happen to us. Fortunately, the 24-hour beverage station supplies coffee cups, hot water, tea bags, sugar, and ice so that I can steep my own tea, sweeten it, cool it down in ice, and then I stop by the nearest bar for lemon slices.

I'm starting to think any chance of major snow in Ohio this winter is slipping away. The long range forecast is looking warmer and warmer. I used to worry about that, but now it seems my biggest fear is someone getting the dreaded stomach virus that weekend. What a heartbreak to be sick in port and be denied boarding! I know it happens sometimes. I have to get this paranoia out of my mind, because I'm stressing about it, but this crap is going around the country right now and freaking me out!! :scared1:

Hi, I completely understand if my family missed the FE opportunity...just learned about this site and the FE's today from a friend at work..I have been missing out....Let me know if I can add myself, my husband and 2 kids to the list.....you might have to give me a few tips if I can be added....

We're flying out of Denver on the 30th as well, just in case the Rockies get walloped with a typical spring storm. Gives us some cushion JUST in case!

Fingers crossed!!

I'm worried about snow or storms on the way down because we're driving. I need to get over my paranoia!

Ha! It seems we all have some paranoia it looks like we need to get over! :lmao: Like I said earlier, I have no fear about snow, but rather about this darn stomach bug that is rampant across the country. Am I the only one that's this crazy?!:scared:

We've dreamed about and planned for this cruise for so long that it's easy to be worried about the things that aren't in our control, like weather delays and germs. :scared:

Planning to arrive a day or two (or more if you're lucky!) is a great way to build in a cushion for weather delays. For flying, did you know that if treacherous weather is predicted for your departure city, destination city, or any of your layover cities, you can call the airline and switch your flights at no charge? We've actually done this twice!

Someone asked a few posts ago about germ prevention strategies. In 2007, I was a bone marrow match for a complete stranger and had to stay healthy for the donation even though I worked in a middle school with 1,400 germ carriers that year! I started using "Wet Ones" wipes before every meal outside of my home, and still do! I also started putting our toothbrushes in the dishwasher after every use and still do that, too! I figured that I don't reuse forks or glasses without washing them, so why would I constantly reuse germy toothbrushes?!? I can tell you that it has made a huge difference!! Now, I will also say that the toothbrush companies don't recommend repeated washing, but all of our toothbrushes are still going strong after hundreds of dishwasher cycles. :)

Here's a double dose of pixiedust: Pixie Dust pixiedust: to everyone for no travel delays or illnesses!!! :goodvibes

I hope so too otherwise there will be a lot of stuff to fit in FEs! Is there a deadline if you haven't heard from them? What I mean is, if you haven't heard from them a few days before do we assume they aren't taking part? Or from experience do people that signed up months ago remember at the last minute?

Hi, I am super new to this...first post yesterday after I learned about this at work....was wondering if we are too late to be included in the FE's? Would love to partcipate!!:cheer2:

Welcome to our cruise meets thread! :flower3: We're glad you found us! :goodvibes Is this your first Disney cruise?

Unfortunately, the it was decided a long time ago that the cut-off for joining the FE Exchange would be March 1st so that everyone would have time to get their stuff together. Our organizer, guarn3md, has already sent out the final lists of participants to all those who already signed up.

However, I have extra FE gifts, so if you want to tell me your cabin number and ages of your kids, I would be happy to exchange with you! :) (You need to have ten posts on the DIS Boards in order to send a private message.)

We've all been sick - my daughter had the stomach thing, so my paranoia is diminished about getting sick. Of course, whatever I worry about - that's not what will happen, it's the things I don't worry about.

I ordered our TripTiks from AAA today. We have navigation on our phones and it's a fairly simply trip from here to FL, but I took DebT's great advice and got something for the kids to follow in the car. We're leaving in late afternoon and driving through the night - so my hope is that we'll have two sleeping kids for a big portion of the trip, but if not - they will have a map to follow.

I'm still waiting for my passport to arrive. It should be here any day. The kids and DH's passports arrived last week and I only submitted my paperwork two days after them. I'm not worried - I just want to check it off my list.

Oh my gosh, what a great idea! Wish I had thought of that with all the sharing of viruses we do in our house~ :thumbsup2

It really does eliminate the "are we there yets"! And, it's a great learning tool! :thumbsup2

It was this crazy lady who asked about the germ prevention stuff. :rolleyes1 Interesting that you used Wed Ones, because I just discovered info about them today. Since we're flying in the day before, I'm worried about picking up nasty stuff on the plane that would rear it's ugly head 24 hours later. I was looking up info on stuff like Clorox wipes, and those don't kill the noroviruses, apparently. The chemical that has been shown to possibly kill it is actually in the Wet Ones wipes! So I'm planning to get the travel pouches of those and used them religiously the week before and during the cruise, as well as wipe down the stuff the kids will touch on the plane. Also, some hand sanitizers now have this chemical in them, and the thought is they're more effective then regular alcohol based ones. The chemical is benzethonium chloride. I'll be getting some of this hand sanitizer, probably the Gold Bond version that has it. Here's a link to another thread that talked about this on the DISboards: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2617502 Hopefully this link works...

Anyway, thanks for the additional tips! I've heard about that with the toothbrushes, but have never done it. Will have to try that! And I promise...I'm not usually a germaphobe at all...I never worry about this stuff, so it's driving me nuts that I am now. Like Deb T. said, it's just that soooo much planning and dreaming has gone into this that I just want it to all go without this major hitch...can't even imagine being denied boarding for something like that after surprising the kids. WOW! Okay, breathe... :goodvibes

Erin :)

For those of you in the FE on our list (Los Chavez) our cabin is 7500.

We still don't have our cruise documents. Is anyone else in the same boat? Craig (DH) left for Las Vegas yesterday to watch our New Mexico Lobos play in the Mountain West Conference basketball tournament. Go Lobos!
