What an amazing story. You are so lucky to have recovered. I am upset that you were not supported by your union in terms of getting your job back--I thought the FDNY has a good, strong union? The stories coming out about the ill health of people that worked rescue operations at ground zero are really disturbing. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

thank you for sharing your story.....thank you for putting your life on the line, almost losing it in the process, and yet you still go back, and put it on the line again because, you are the true definition of a hero....i am sorry for the loss of your fellow brothers...i am sorry for how you were treated after you were so ill, i am sorry for how much you saw and have suffered........you humble me.......may you have many more disney moments, cups of coffee and sunsets on your porch with the ones you love............have a great day tomorrow!!!!!

Just when I think my life has gone to he** I read a story like yours and it puts things in perspective for me. So what if the light turns red and I have to wait a few more minutes.
