Applying for a Job at Walmart

I am not interested in being a cashier but the help wanted sign states that our Walmart is looking for a sales associate. Would that be someone that does duties other than a cashier?

If I remember correctly (it's been over 10 years since I worked at Wally World)...a sales associate CAN work in one of the various departments, but usually ALL associates are trained on the cash registers and are expected to work them in *rush* periods.
