Bret's article is GREAT reading!! And I wish all of you DADs applying for 2009 very best wishes.

If anyone wants more reading to keep them busy while waiting for Round 2, feel free to check out my articles here:

I wrote three separate articles that appeared in the PassPorter newsletter but the above link will take you to a forum where all 3 were posted.

Travel:
My husband accompanied me on the training trip. I had to book his airfare. But I was able to get my seat location that Disney had booked for me and then get him right next to me. If you read Bret's article, you'll know that it was a whirlwind. But my dh had fun playing in the parks and got to glimpse me experiencing some special moments. (My son was okay staying home with Grandma since we had just returned from Disneyland.)

Compensation:
i don't think the application makes it clear. It was the same for us. Once chosen (or was it before the phone interview?), you'll undergo a background check and after you are chosen some contractual obligations will be sent your way. You will have to read your contract to see if a family trip or other compensation will be included. If you are chosen, the training trip for you the panelist will likely be arranged and paid for by WDW, as will any Public Relations (PR) events/trips that you may be invited to attend.

In April, I flew down to Orlando by myself to attend a PR (Mommy blogger) event. Darcie (another WDW Moms Panelist) and I were put up at the Beach Club. It was another BUSY schedule but oh, so much fun. Including a limo to the California Grill for dinner and then to La Nouba!

wishing each of you a magical journey! And let's give a big :grouphug: to the Cast Members reading all 20,000 applications!

Thanks Kim, I am NO where near done reading, but am enjoying your article!

Gonna read more!:surfweb:

So when does everyone think that the 2nd round participates will be notified? Will it be after the Sept 19th or when they decide on each one?

I applied and then I saw this thread and people talking about the 12 month requirement (oops didn't read them that carefully!) Good thing I was at WDW in January!

and good luck to all of us who have applied :thumbsup2 and even better luck for those who have to read all the applications! :worship:

I didn't read the requirements at all. I only saw the 3 questions and answered them immediately. Then I went back to the site to try and read, feeling REALLY dumb:guilty: , and it wouldn't let me read the requirements-it said, 'our records show we have already recieved your application.....'

But after hearing them on the Dis, I felt better as we went in Feb and just evacuated there for Gustav for a couple days.:cool1: shhhhewwww.....:scared:

Bret & Kim -

I just wanted to thank you both for the wonderful articles you have written. I found myself smiling and nodding my head in agreement as I read them! All of my friends and family love going to Disney and look forward to our vacations there, but I have to say that none of them really understand my, dare I say, obsession?!?!

Have a magical day!

:surfweb: When was the first round picked/notified? And how about round 2? I can't seem to find the answer. I am sure one of you all know it off the top of your heads... And since I am at work, I should probably get some work done...

I believe that last year it was Oct 16 by email. People are saying this year the 19th. For Round I

Kim,
I read your articles as well as Bret's before applying the first day. Sounds like y'all had the experience of a lifetime. I hope to make it this year, but even if I don't, just the prep for the application has gotten me even more plugged into all that is Disney. Thanks for the magical wishes you sent out to the applicants and may I send you (as well as the other MOMS panelists) some Pixie Dust:tink: back for being such an inspiration to us WDW planning fanatics.

thanks for the answer... if the trip is paid for then for sure I could be there! that's it.. I'm officially going to enter!

one more question.. does anyone know if this is a paying gig? not that it really matters cause I would do it even if it wasn't. thanks!

This has probably been answered, but i didn't read this whole thread. From what i understand, your "pay" is a all expenses paid trip to any resort, any time for 5 nights and 6 days, for 4.

You get the training trip and last year they gave the current moms the trip that you mentioned above.

I would do the job for free just to be "part" of Disney. I am sure that there are others who applied who feel the same way.

Anyone know if the panel members get CM name badges?!?!?! That sure would be a fun perk for me ...

I so Agree! :wizard: Just being associated with the amazing-ness of Disney is enough for me. :goodvibes BUT a trip would be great too! It would make it feel SO real!! :surfweb:

No name badges. We are not cast members.

Although I sure would love one of those name tags.

Technically, we are independent contractors. The fine print at the bottom of the disneyworldmoms.com website reads
"The views expressed in the Walt Disney World® Moms Panel are those of the panelists, who are independent contractors, and may not be factually accurate. These views are not intended to reflect the opinions of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Online, its affiliates, its management, its agents or its employees. Panelists have received/will receive a trip to the Walt Disney World® Resort for their participation on the Panel."

This keeps our answers "authentic".

It's been a magical journey!:wizard:

I completely agree. When i was reading about it, at first i thought the training trip was what you got and thought that was good enough! The real prize is being honored being picked and being able to help newbies plan their trips.

Thanks so much for the response, and it makes complete sense!

Glad to hear what a magical experience you have had and have really enjoyed reading your posts and articles. Can't wait to find out about the announcement at 1:00 today ... did you get to know your Fed Ex delivery driver pretty well over the last year? Reminds me of the 4 months before my wedding and all the UPS deliveries I received, felt I should have invited the driver to the wedding he was at our house so often!

Thanks for posting (especially your link to your writing about the experience)!

Sounds like you had an awesome time!

Hi, everyone. I applied too and wish everyone the best of luck! Just curious, what announcement at 1:00 today?

Thanks so much for the response, and it makes complete sense!

Happy Birthday WDW guests.

Yesterday WDW announced their next promotion that will follow The Year of a Million Dreams. It was announced in NYC and 4 of the moms from the Moms Panel attended the media event. After the announcement, Mickey went outside in to the street to pass out balloons to children!!!

Part of the promotion is a gift to WDW guests allowing them in to the theme park for FREE on the day of their birthday.

WDW sent the Moms Panelists adorable note cards to promote and announce officially the new promotion.

See www.disneyworld.com for more info.

"What will you celebrate"?

Yep, I signed up last night! Woohoo! We are AP holders so I love that I can get a giftcard with the amt of a ticket. Just because of this, we will go for each and every birthday in our family in 2009 LOL. April 12, May 2, May 10, June 14, Aug 17, and Sept 24 (my moms). We won't be going for our youngest's bday though because we are having his actual party on his birthday (it's a tradition we do for first bdays LOL)
