i think I finally found a great use for the apple watch. If Disney it gets it together down the road with having push notifications come to their app it would make using an apple watch actually kinda helpful. U would simply get a ping when a fast pass or adr is coming up. That's it. Nothing else fancier needed. Would also be nice if any events we load into the app pop up too even though u can do that urself in the colander or reminder app.

I mean u can do it now if u copy all ur fast passes into the calendar but when u change me in the app u have to update them in the calendar which would be a pain.

It's kinda pain looking in on the app at times because it's just a very slow app in general.

I just got my watch, finally, on Thursday. I'm punching them in the calendar for now. We aren't big plan changers so it should be fine. I like the idea of just glancing at the watch for an ADR or FP time. It sure would be nice tho if they linked it with MDE! I like AA app with the countdown to our flight. 130d 10hours lol.

Did you know the technology is also in place to use the Apple Watch as a Magic Band? It has RFID technology.

It would be great if they linked that also. I do know WDW uses apple pay so I've linked my Disney Visa to the watch to play with while I'm there. If they do link the RFID to were you don't need a MB my wife will be decorating our watches instead of the bands lol?

How common is contactless payments now at WDW? Specifically, I'm hoping that Apple Pay will be common. My Apple Watch and iPhone 6 Plus are ready with Apple Pay.

If you're already wearing a magic band, what would be the purpose of using Apple Pay? I guess you could choose which card to use but other than that it seems an extra step in the process.

That being said, everywhere at WDW takes contactless payments including Apple Pay now.

I just got an Apple Watch as a gift. I haven't quite figured out what it is good for yet, other than the fitness tracker (which I am still trying to learn about).

Might have to look into Apple Pay though.

That would be very cool if you could use it for FP redemption. I always find myself looking down at the MagicBand to see what time it is, so it would be nice to combine all of those functions into one.

I think you'll like Apple Pay. For me, it's more secure than a MB for purchases because it requires Touch ID. In April, I paid for an $80 lunch using my MB at Captain's Grille and the YC MB reader didn't even require my pin code. Doesn't seem too secure to me.

For the fact that not everyone with a MB is staying on property, therefore can't charge to the room

Apple Pay is more private than anything else out there. The merchant doesn't know your personal information and the card company doesn't know what you buy.

They don't have to open the MyMagic technology up, they just need to add the feature to MDE. Starwood Hotels have an app that lets the watch unlock your room.

We have run into a lot of CMs who do not understand Apple Pay or how to take it, all over but especially in World Showcase.

+1. Ya band would be quicker and more seamless to keep track of charges

Disney isn't going to want to open their in Hosue technology to anyone if you already think about the paranoia that people around here have just wearing the bands...
They wouldn't be opening up their in house technology. The watch just gets info pushed from the phone. There is nothing on the watch really. Kinda like the bands. All the watch is doing is acting as a screen for the phone in ur pocket. The watch doesn't really do anything except tell time and show a few pics stored on it if ur phone is out of reach. So Disney really isn't allowing anyone to do anything except allowing their own app give info to the watch as a second screen pretty much.

I just received my Apple Watch last week and I was WISHING that there was a MDE app for the watch! It would be awesome. Hopefully down the line it will happen! There are so many awesome options that could work at WDW with the watch!

That's kind of strange.
Each time I've used my Magicband to make a purchase over several trips, it required the pin code to complete the transaction. That was even for small purchases under $10

I thought it was strange as well especially because I asked if he needed my pin. His reader supposedly froze and when he returned said that they didn't always need the pin. Not reassuring at all.

I don't ever wear a watch, but I must look at my magic band 20x a day when I'm in the parks thinking I will see the time. I am always saying that magic bands need a watch in them! With the money they spend sending new bands every darn trip we take, they could afford to just put a little digital watch in there. Lol. It would be convenient.
